[ If the Initiative ever wanted proof of how well they expanded their network's range, this would be it.

Normally Caesar isn't prone to using video, but this will be one of his few exceptions. He's sitting in a large metal chair, one with all sorts of technical whatzits and doodads that he'll never ever fully understand on his own attached. For those more future-inclined, it looks an awful lot like the captain's chair of, say, a spaceship's bridge. He waits a few beats until he's sure the tablet, either held by someone else or propped up on something across from him, is broadcasting.
]

Good evening, Exsilium.

If someone would be kind enough to go wake the Initiative up for us and let them know we have something large, space-faring, and very high up above the island right now that we'd like to bargain with them for, that would be really great.

( OOC note: Feel free to threadjack! This is totally a threadjackable post. )

I'm thirteen today... I think. It's hard to keep track. Maybe I was really thirteen a while ago but today the date's right.

[Rue can't be seen on screen, she can be heard though, walking around the room.]

I'm not saying it to ask for anything. It... it's just important for me to acknowledge it somewhere.

[As a record, to believe it, to look back and say she survived another year since the reaping, since the arena.]

That's all really.

[And the video ends.]

[So Sollux thought it'd be a good idea to see what Earth movies are like. And with Crank as his only basis thus far, he's 1. not impressed, and 2. confused on a few things.]

Hey.

That movie that was shown last night, used a lot of words I don't know. Human vernacular ith really stupid and weird. Tho everyone should tell me all the thwear words they know and what they mean. There were like twenty onesth I didn't know in that movie, and I thtill don't get what they meant. Thith ith for educational purposes, of course.

[Charlie usually prefers to post text to the network, but he's in a hurry and talking is faster than typing. He sounds to be a bit in a rush and the announcement is hardly polished.]

Hey you lot, we've got a movie theater up on the run and we're screening our first-- [It's not really a film, is it? More like a carnival act. This is the last time he lets Collette pick something to screen without intense supervision.] --uh, movie. Admission's a flat rate of one marque for any transport to cover operational costs, no fee for civvies. I've attached coordinates and a blurb about the-- movie we've got running to this message.

Come if you like, though I warn you now that minors are probably in for a bit of a shock.

[There's an attachment to the voice message that contains both the coordinates of the theatre - "The Usual Place" - and a description of the movie. The latter reads:]

CRANK (2006)
Rating Information: R for violence and saucy language as well as some extremely adult situations and some truly godawful camerawork as well. Not recommended for anyone under the age of 16 or over the age of 65
Summary: Professional assassin Chev Chelios learns his rival has injected him with a poison that will kill him if his heart rate drops
Director: Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor (god help them)
Starring: Some git, Amy Smart, some other people as well

Okay, wait, no-- no, I can do it!

( Possibly there are sounds of other voices, but Ellie is being stubborn because she's Ellie. The complaint is undermined by the laughter running rich through her voice; a new sound, maybe, for a fair few on the network. )

Come on, it can't be difficult. ( But her voice drops, as she grumbles. ) iPod, what the hell happened to walkmans-- ( Oh! Wait, gentle listener: ) It's working! Steph, I made it work!

( And what is playing? Why, the finest compilation of eighties classics, of course, with the dulcet tones of a few teenage girls and glasses in the background. Sorry, Bones - the unit has been invaded. )

Sami, this is the one you need to hear. ( Because, as we all know, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. )

This is Comm-- [There's an awkward pause before Lee clears his throat and starts again.] My name is Lee Adama and I'm looking to get my hands on some basic supplies.

Where's the best place or places to get any of the following? Thanks in advance.

[There's a text list attached to his video transmission. It reads as follows:

- first aid kit including sterile bandages, pressure bandages, alcohol, blood stopping agents, scissors, sutures, splints, etc
- multi-tool
- flashlight (rechargeable preferred)
- MREs
- flares
- hunting knife
- compass
- matches
- magnesium (fire starter)
- anti-radiation meds
- paracord
- small mirror

Yes, he's assembling a survival/tactical kit, for anyone who might notice the theme of his request.

[The network contains no shortage of complaints about problems in this place. Who the Initiative chooses to pull in, uncertainties and angry demands for purpose, even complaints about the weather. But there's one problem that has, as a whole, received very little attention.

Until now.

When the feed turns on, it's clear that the video function has been activated, but the camera isn't aimed at anything particularly interesting (just a wall). All that's really noteworthy is a constant sound in the background, something between a growl and a low-pitched meow. Clearly identifiable as being of feline origin.

Yes, from the sound of it, someone is now a victim of Exsilium's stray cat problem. Or, at the very least, of one particularly persistent stray cat.

This persists for a few long moments until a female voice, carrying a distinct hint of exasperation, adds to the soundtrack.]

Does this [A yowl of protest later, a cat, a skinny, orange, mangy little thing, comes into focus] belong to anyone?

[Going once.... going twice....

No, seriously, someone claim this cat or she's probably going to cook it B'|]

Has there ever been a case where someone who has disappeared from Exsilium came back?

[ Brows furrowed, it might be too much to hope for that. ]

Nevertheless, if you have any unfinished business with Miles Edgeworth, you will now report directly to me.

[ Her voice was strained, trying hard to subdue her anger. She ends the feed there before her feelings get the best of her. People familiar with the police force's office set-up might be able to tell that Franziska took over Edgeworth's desk. ]

[ Anyone scrolling through the network will come across a video feed of this brunette preteen humming to herself as her eyes focus on the right side of the screen. After a moment, she sighs in frustration and rubs her face with both hands before speaking. ]

And I thought my teacher gave me a lot of homework. At least these people don't test us on all of this stuff.

......they don't, right? [ She huffs, muttering to herself. ] They better not. Anyway, is anyone else new to this world like I am?

[ Hey look! It's the resident giant robot. He smiles so warmly it almost seems fake. ]

Greetings! Since it seems we have some new people since I last spoke on the network, my name is Drift.

For those of you who do know me, there are a few matters I need to attend to.

The first being, I'm moving! There's an abandoned warehouse down the way so if anyone would like my new location, please don't hesitate to ask. On a related note it uh, It's a bit of a fixer-upper. I don't have much to offer in return, but if anyone would be willing to help me strip it down and patch a few things up, I'd be very grateful.

On the other note, I was considering starting some self-defense classes to be held at my new location. I've had a job for now as a transport and delivery service of sorts, but I think, if anyone was interested, I'd enjoy teaching that on the side.

So! If you'd like to learn basic hand-to-hand or swordplay, please let me know!

[ It's not video this time for no apparent reason. The reasons are not apparent because you can't see him. It's like a catch-22, just without the catch, or maybe the other twenty parts involved. Maybe even twenty-one. Who knows. ]

Friends, transports, exiles, lend me your engineers. [ Appreciate that stunning wordplay for a moment. ]And your scientists, assistants, researchers, mechanics, and technicians. Anybody who can function in a room filled with things that they sort of understand and not break each one systematically. And pass a basic skills test. You have to actually be able to do the job.

And speaking of that - I'm employing people. Contrast Mechanics is starting up and I need basicaly everybody. So, Exsilium, what've you got?

[Cedric appears on the screen, waving hello.]

Hello! I know we've all had a rough time of it lately and we've got some newcomers again, so I was wondering if you might be interested in trying the virtual reality system with me? I really like football, it's been going great, but I miss my own game. So I'd like to try us with a game from my world, Quidditch. That word probably means nothing to most of you, so I'll explain the game. Just try to follow along with the picture.

[Cedric holds up this crayon drawing, adjusting the tablet's position so that it can be seen more easily.]

[On the screen is a blond woman, to all appearances human and doing a not-quite-perfect job hiding the kind of resigned annoyance only seen in those for whom getting hauled across space and time is just a bothersome day at the office. She's instantly recognizable to people from a wide number of related universes—it's Susan Richards, the Invisible Woman, visible for this conversation and wearing a black-and-white version of the Fantastic Four's classic blue uniform with the distinctive "4" logo on the chest. It's been almost two days and there's no sign of her teammates, so it's time to cast a wider net.]

Hello. My name is Susan Richards. I'm going to swallow my pride and assume that doesn't mean anything to most of you. [The necessity of doing so doesn't seem to bother her, even though the idea of not being known on sight is strange. Sue laughs a little, and lets go of her irritation. The only real problem here is that her family isn't, and that's always been a self-correcting state of affairs.]

If it does, however, do me a favor and check in? Avengers, X-Men, SHIELD—I'm not picky. [Sue's already run into two people from home. Maybe there are more. She'll even take villains, if only so she can keep an eye on them.]

Everyone else, nice to meet you. Lovely weather we're having, isn't it?

[OOC: Fourth-walling is okay as long as your character's not going to be a jerk about it. Canon fail post is thisaway.]

Time!

[ the screen flickers onto a scene in the training rooms; there's a complicated systems of fabricated heights and landscapes, all metal, but changing. it's for terrain training; so people can understand and utilize the things around them. it's simple and made of clean metal, and riku stands on one side of it, breathing heavily, eyes focused ahead. the camera itself is wobbly as intense flapping can be heard--it's most likely that the device is in the hands (well, claws) of one stellaluna the dream eater, especially in the way he glances towards the camera with a little smile.

the timer blinks on a screen above him; he turns his head to watch it blink 2:03, and he narrows his eyes, obviously displeased with that. the terrain changes again, and he yells start before he's set to run.

he just... doesn't run normally. he jumps from edge to edge where he should probably topple over the edge, tucks into a roll when he makes a slightly clumsy fall so he doesn't injure himself, climbs back up, slides and pitches himself suddenly forward, grabbing onto a ledge and hurtling himself backwards onto another one. nothing is purely decorative, not even the flips he does that seem a bit like showing off, some aspects purely gymnastic. either way, if he isn't doing an essential move, he's booking it straight to the other end of the course, head dropped low and tucked against his chest.

when he finally hits the flashing button on the end, he turns sharply. ]

[ For once, Cairistiona's not found in her traditional armor when addressing the Transports here. Her blond hair is still in a ponytail, but she's opted for a simple t-shirt and a pair of pants with boots. When she's ready, she smiles brightly at the camera, followed by a wave. ]

Hello everyone! I hope everyone is having a good day here.

I've been gathering some materials - mainly pieces of scrap metal here and there, and well, I'm not sure my apartment can hold it all! Not to mention I don't think they'd appreciate it... But, anyway--!

I'll be beginning to build a blacksmith shop for people to have a means to get weapons repaired and built, as well as offering to repair armor and build new ones for you if you would like. I haven't had a chance to scope out how much ore there is in this world, so I plan on doing that sometime soon - just so I have some materials to smelt.

However, I don't plan on doing this all alone, either! If we have any other blacksmiths like myself, I would love for you to join me! I'll be finding an area for us to work, so just look for me in the hallways. I also will not turn down apprentices who would like to learn or even offer to help out. Just let me know if you're interested and we can work something out!

( OOC: I'll be putting up a log following this as Cair's gonna scrounge around for supplies to fortify the shop! If you have any questions, feel free to shoot me a PM or ping me on plurk at [plurk.com profile] advancing! )

I noticed that quite a few children are taken here as well and I was wondering.

Is there any safe haven for them here? Like an orphanage or such.

If not for the children taken, then surely at least for the ones victim to this war.

[ A simple question brought to you by a comm that's registered to just 'Leo' and he . . . just leaves it at that. ]

Good afternoon, fellow Transports! [Coby stood in front of his tablet and saluted, the back of his hand facing his forehead rather than saluting in a flat, horizontal fashion. This was the kind of salute that his navy practiced. For once, he was wearing his full attire--his long sleeved collared shirt, his medals and his mantle. Clearly, Coby felt a need to dress at the nines on a Friday afternoon. His stern expression maintained itself with practiced ease.]

As some of you may be aware, my name is Coby and I'm a Marine from a world you may not have heard of. I'm at the rank of 'Captain', which usually exempts me from a number of periodic physical, psychological and mental tests, though as an officer capable of running one or more vessels, I'm still very much responsible for practicing good behavior! [Coby kept his back straight, arms behind himself and his legs perfectly spaced apart to look one hundred percent the part of an officer.]

I have missed a formal evaluation and as a result, I find it imperative to conduct it in the form of a survey to those who have encountered me and interacted with me on a social and work-related basis. Now, for the survey! Ahead of time, I must thank my employer for helping me program this into my post.

Attached to this video post is a document which you may fill out and send back to me. At the bottom, there will be an interactive field in which you can sign your name with your finger if you so desire; however, you're absolutely free to take this survey anonymously. The survey itself will consist of a few basic questions which will be answering numerically from 1 to 10, ten being your highest approval and one being your lowest! Thank you ahead of time for your cooperation!

[ The feed clicks on. All that can be seen is from the mouth and down. The suit might look familiar to some - Conner is more than familiar with the well-known R symbol himself - and to others, maybe they'll know who the faceless person appearing is by his voice alone. ]

So this... really happened, huh? If you have my body, I want it back. In one piece. Until then - try to be careful with what you touch.

[ Dryly he then adds: ] ... definitely feeling the aster with this one.

[ And the feed ends. ]

08 March 2013 @ 02:42 pm
[There's a scoff. This is really laughable at this point. Arthur's body appears on the screen, and he's definitely not wearing anything, but his precious jewels aren't flashing about. Ygritte's too amused at this point. Merely because Arthur seems so upset about being in her body.

And let's face it, Ygritte's far better than he is.]

So this is what it's like, aye? To be a male, to have some worm between me legs? [Another scoff.]

Oh, pardon me. A royal prick between m'legs.

[She's a prince now.]

My people'd laugh at the notion. Just because my father is some so called king. Well not my father. Wonder if I've got any sort of servant to wipe m'arse.

[Snort.]

And this is some big deal?

[Yeah, right.]

[A video feed begins, displaying a small girl sitting on her bed in her apartment quarters. She's fiddling with the placement of her netbook as it records, but she doesn't seem to realize it's... filming upside-down. When she's erroneously confident it's pointed in the right direction, she crosses her arms and grins.]

Hello, everyone. My name is Toph Beifong! I'm a new person here, but if you're from my world, you've probably heard of me. Greatest earthbender who ever lived, pioneer of metalbending, celebrated war hero. Not to mention a wanted person for a while, too. And the star of a smash-hit play.

[she straightens up and tips her head, apparently pretty proud of all that.]

Anyway, I wanted to let everyone know that I'm blind, so I can avoid having to explain it to each of you every time we meet. But - don't think I'm asking for your help or anything either, I can get around fine with earthbending. Basically, just don't bother coming at me with any pictures or books or papers or whatever. I can't see them or read 'em.

[she pauses as if about to say something else, and then suddenly brightens.]

Oh! I was gonna say not to bother sending me text messages either... but actually, I was messing with this thing earlier and I found out it could read them to me! [As she says it, she waves her hands in the air excitedly.] I mean they gave me one with special buttons just for me, so that I'd be able to use it, which is so cool already, but I never thought it would read for me on top of it! How awesome is that?!

[very awesome, because she's all smiles now.] So, I guess that even though you basically kidnapped us right when we were ready to start relaxing... I should say thanks to you Initiative people, too. I can't really think of anyone ever giving me something like this! You know... something that I normally wouldn't be able to use, but it's fixed so I can. It's kinda nice.

Anyway, uh... nice to meet you all! [she reaches towards the camera again and the video ends.]

06 March 2013 @ 10:46 am
[When the video feed initially comes on, it's pointed slightly too high and catches only the upward flip of hair on the person trying to use it. However the angle is quickly corrected and Tintin comes fully into view.]

I've been doing some digging since my arrival; is it true that the network is the only information delivery system here? No papers at all? [The question's clearly a bit hypothetical, as he barrels forward regardless.] With the network being so active, it seems like it would be easy to misplace high priority information. Or is there a way to break how it's sorted down a little more specifically? By the sound of it, most of us are out of our depths here and it might be a good idea to have some kind of system that's a little more-- [He waffles a moment, looking for the right word.] --well, 'focused' I suppose.

On that note, I'd appreciate any information you might have regarding a few statistics: how long the average Transport stays in Exsilium, any census data on hand, how common the missions the Initiative sends us on are and the like. Any hard fact is a good one.

--Oh! [He sharpens, suddenly serious.] And if anyone knows where to find dog food, I'd appreciate that as well. It comes in a can.

[The feed clicks off.]

PRIVATE to DICK GRAYSON )

PRIVATE to ZEVRAN ARAINAI )

I don't suppose anyone remembers, but back in December I came across an old synagogue here. I've spoken to the citizens here who use it for shelter every now and then and they also thought it would be a good idea to help clean and fix it up. I'm no contractor and I can't offer anything in return unfortunately... I've only noticed a lot of people asking if there's something to do around here.

If you're interested, I figured helping out the people here would be one small step forward. Someone's got to eventually help with some of these buildings, hm? I also imagine there's got to be a few people who know a thing or two about repairing interiors. I noticed there was talk of building a greenhouse a few days ago.

[ A lengthy pause. ]

And a question since most on the network apparently enjoy them: do you think there's such thing as too much information? [ It's been on her mind for a couple of weeks now. ]

now more importantly i have a question for the masses. most of you guys are from all kinds of places like places i aint even heard of with all sorts of different rules so theres something i need to know. what makes a monster? and what makes a normal person or being or whatever? just say men to make it simple here. dont muddle the damn question with semantics and shit.

[It's late, but apparently tonight is a night Lacus is having a harder time sleeping. So she's still awake, trying to keep Haro from being too loud and waking Cagalli or Sheryl. She decides to check the tablet, maybe others are in a similar position, being friends from home but from different points, like she and Kira were. Maybe they might have some advice that might help. She never had particularly thought of it as an issue, not until Kira had brought it up with the fireworks earlier last month.]

I don't suppose....any others here have friends from home that are from different points? I have one who remembers two years more than I do. I didn't really think anything of it initially, but I'm just wondering how others might have dealt with it, that might help. Two years doesn't seem like that long, but a lot can happen.

[Well. That and, she figures things get more serious and intimate between them over that time. For her, they had only recently started dating, but for Kira they had been for a good while by the point he ended up here as well. That is probably her main concern, though she knows Kira would never push her on it, and that he had assured her it was okay to tell him if she wasn't comfortable. But she doesn't want to upset him either.]

hi, looking to get rid of the following. prices negotiable, or make an offer and ill consider it. First come first serve.

- book, "the planet of cakes". Mint condition. Really good read, i can only recommend it if you're into philosophy and interested in tales of cakey life struggles. 5✥

- two healthy houseplants, one's a cactus, not sure of the other. Leaves are kinda velvety with pink flowers. 5✥ each

- folder with farm animal porn. You can have this for free because i definitely dont have any use for it. Perfect for trolling people or something. Or whatever you wanna do with it.

- A funky toaster with a matching desk lamp. both work fine. 30✥ each

- almost fully stocked soda vending machine. various flavors including coke & coke light. seems to have a minor defect, if you push the button for orange it gives you lemon-lime for some reason. Otherwise working fine. Comes with the entertainment of wrecking it after its empty so you can get your money back, perfect stress relief alternative if a punching bag just doesn't do it for you. 150✥

- surprise fridge, fully stocked with various things, including but not limited to food items. Buyers must be of age. 200✥

- complete tea set for two persons. Has seen some use but still in pristine condition. Includes a number of flavors but the majority of teabags are earl gray. 25✥

- a painting of... i dont even know what that is so here's a picture. too deep for me to get it i guess. 20✥ if you want it.

- the best plush ever in good condition. just personally washed it too. not sure yet if i want to give this one away so if youre interested post an offer. if i dont like it i'll keep it, sorry.

[ she almost made this anonymous, but in the end concluded she could figure out a way to ask what she wanted without incriminating herself. ]

I have two questions for everyone.

1) Are there people here who have more than human abilities that can affect other people's minds? And if so, are any of them willing to help others train in resistance of mental interference?

2) How many people here have no experience fighting?

Oh actually 3 questions, I guess. I wouldn't mind finding a few people to spar with, if anyone else is looking. I used to do martial arts as a hobby, so I'm not entirely inexperienced.

[ ooc: if anyone wants to log out / action sparring encounters just let me know! ]

[The video opens up to a teenage girl. She might look pretty normal at first glance, but there are horse ears on top of her head, and she happens to take up the whole couch she's sitting on because she's a horse from the waist down. Her horse half is also fully clothed and covered, which might explain in advance her question.]

Um... Maybe someone can help me. I don't have enough clothes, and I can't find any that will fit. These won't last forever either!

[She hides her face in her hands for a moment, burning with an embarrassed blush, then she lowers them again to wring them together.]

No one I've talked to knows how to make clothes for centaurs and I-- I just really need clothes.

[And her embarrassment at asking this publicly gets too high so she hurriedly shuts off the tablet.]

[Hooray, Jesse is finally awake and home after his half-week holiday with hookers and meth. This of course means he's looking extra groggy, red around the eyes, and not exactly the most cheerful. Which makes the following message a little dissonant:]

Hey, so... - Hey, hi, I'm Jesse. If you're new.

Anyway, um, I know I talked to a few of you earlier about maybe some baking lessons? I was thinking probably, since in a couple weeks we'll have a whole 'nother shipment of new guys, we'll practice making cookies for 'em.

Some of you saw me this last time, right? I had like this whole setup with a tent? I was thinking we could do that again, but bigger this time. Or if you don't wanna be out in the cold all day, we could set up in the lobby downstairs, like right when people come in to find their units? I dunno. I'm just thinking out loud.

Anybody into that, though? Like on the 28th or something we get together and make some cookies? Assuming nobody bombs us or anything.

[An anxious Cedric appears on screen. He looks from left to right, his mussed hair flying just about everywhere. He taps the screen to ensure that it's turned on---in his mind this somehow serves a purpose. When he's sure everything's working, he waves.]

Hello! This is Cedric again. I've talked about this with one or two of you before. I'm sorry if I'm repeating myself or it's something you've all heard before, but this is something I need to sate my curiosity about. It's just that this world is so different from what I'm used to and there are so many different types of people. If that's even the word you prefer. And sometimes we have conflicts with one another.

So I have to ask: what do you think of people who are capable of using magic? Witches, warlocks, sorcerers, casters, wizards, or whatever you choose to call them. Are they all right, do you think? Or not?

By way of some odd notes about feet, it's come to my attention that yesterday was some sort of a sex holiday. That is, a holiday about sex, not a holiday from sex.

This morning, then, would be the morning after.

In a week or two, you should know whether you've picked up any unpleasant souvenirs of the holiday. Please see the attached document for some information on the subject, unless you are a small child.

[ ATTACHMENT: HELPFULINFORMATION. It's a comic entitled "Capt. Veedee-o and Ms. Wanda Lust in VD CLAPTRAP." Anders doesn't know to mark it not-safe-for-work. This is his work! ]

If you are a small child, you don't know what I'm talking about, and that's as it should be. You ought to go do something fun that doesn't involve listening to grown-ups discuss boring things on the network. Run around! Do you know how wonderful it is that you've got the freedom to run around outdoors whenever you like? I'm telling you, you really ought to take advantage of that. Don't take those freedoms for granted.

If you're a healer or a doctor of any sort, and you are not a small child, the transport clinic could probably use your help. The coming month may bring an explosion of nasty rashes or worse. Contact me, or our co-director Ashraf Salib, or Adrasteius who doesn't want to have a title. We'll put you to work, whatever it is you do.

Oh, and since Merrill's gone home ... [he won't admit he misses her, but: ] I suppose we could also use a receptionist. That's what it's called, yes? We didn't need receptionists at my clinic in Kirkwall. People would just come right in shouting about their wounds, and I'd see to them eventually, when I wasn't hands-deep in something else. Apparently having more than one healer in this Transport clinic means we need to be better-organized, therefore having someone in the front room is nice and useful.

[Ollie's usually a little bit paranoid parrot about showing his face, considering everything that's going on here and how wonderful it was having his face plastered all over the news back home, but if he wants a few answers, well, he figures having a name to a face right now might get better feedback.

First, you'll see him turning on the tablet and squinting his eyes. Yeah, that's a good angle. His tablet is propped up in such a way on a table in his room, so during the feed, you'll see him crossing in and out of the room, arranging things.]

So! Since we're all basically forced to live here together an upgraded version of Survivor [look at him, using references he knows that are probably kind of outdated], I figured we should all get to know each other. We're all from different places and different times, right? Tell me a little bit about it. What you did, what it was like, what you miss...

[He might be new, but hey, he might have an idea or two up his sleeve.]

Oh! Collette. Think you're ready to give me the grand tour?

[ This is delivered via network notification to roughly everyone in Exsilium at the same time. It's posted anonymously, but that's really more to maintain a semblance of vague professionalism, because he's not actually put that much effort into being anonymous about it. Feel free to reply to it - you'll probably get a reply. ]

Lonely? Feeling the pangs of depression, isolation, and/or general malaise for life? Or perhaps your hormones are simply feeling the pull of long nights, hard days, and the lack of anything that should be both adjectives combined.

Fill out a moderately quick dating profile for ConnExsilium today and you'll be one step closer to finding that special someone, whether it's fated for true love, or simply to tide you over until the one you really want arrives.

Matches based on math and personal judgement. No getting mad at me for whichever responses you get that you don't like, and no badgering for things faster than I can actually sift through them, unless you actually want everything about you potentially handled by the network.

[The camera clicks on to reveal a skinny kid with a mess of brown hair. He's holding the tablet in front of him, so the view's a bit shaky; it doesn't help that he's fidgeting and gesturing with his other hand as he speaks, first and foremost being a quick and awkward wave hello.]

Hey. Hello? This is on, right? You know, they should put a light on these things to show they're transmitting. Maybe they do, I didn't really - [Barely a pause as he checks himself, gets back on track.]

Sorry. Hi, my name's Peter. Peter Parker. So I got the welcome tour, and I guess my big question is - where can we get decent food around here?

[Priorities. He got most of the relevant info the other day, anyway. He almost looks like he's done, but then he abruptly remembers something and speaks up again in a rush.] And I made a thing. I mean, I didn't really make it, I just re-made it. I probably messed some of it up, but I guess nobody here's going to know any better, right?

It's for Collette, but I figured anybody could use it. Let me know if you have questions, or just type "help" and it should cover the bases. And don't forget to use your lanterns. [And Peter out - no wait, just kidding. He's half a second from ending the transmission before he stops.]

It's a game, by the way. The thing.

[He's done for real this time, pending an attachment:]

What moron's in charge of the machine that's bringing in the new people.  It's like they decided to say the hell with trying to win this war, we're just going to keep throwing bodies at it till something works.

Anyway.  Back to normal, blah blah.  I'd apologize for what an asshole I grow up to be, but I can't really remember too much of what he did [ He's lying. ], so there's not much point.  Just be glad I'm back to my regular charming self.

[Filtered from Collette (as useless of a gesture as that may be) ]

But uh.  There's a reason for this besides the not-apology.  I don't exactly have anyone specific I can ask, because.  Well, because.  So I figured I'd just kinda throw it out there.

So, uh.  How does dating work?

I mean, I'm not a total social reject, I know how it works normally, but for like a specific girl.  And okay, the last date I went on back home didn't go too hot anyway.

[ He's just going to disconnect before he digs himself any deeper.  SMOOTH, JASON, REALLY SMOOTH. ]

Continuity- kinda just-

[ -scuffles in the background. The video feed clicks on, though for a few seconds there’s not much to see other than a few broken shingles and a small-fingered, bright green glove. The voice is young enough not to crack, and probably – probably – male. ]

Yeesh. Okay, that’s not it. You know, you guys should’ve just said if you were looking to upgrade this stuff. I mean this thing... this thing is just kinda...

[ With a click he figures out where the input is and tilts it away from the rooftop he’s perched on. The face peering down into the feed is masked and frowning. ]

Okay. I think... that does it, right?

So I didn’t think there was gonna be much of a reason for me to use this thing, but since the welcome wagon left out the part about everybody forgetting who they were I thought I could… um. Help. I mean, if anybody’s still confused about stuff. I didn’t get a chance to write down everything before this place went haywire, but I think I still remember all the same things I did yesterday. So that’s something, anyway.

[ The first giveaway that this isn't the person who normally uses this particularly tablet is that it's a video post. The second that she looks not only younger but lighter and more cheerful, if also a little uneasy. The last is how bright her voice is when she talks. If they were running into her in person, the sort of aura of warmth she exudes would be another giveaway, the effect of being an empath who hasn't had a reason yet to learn to shut it down as much as possible. ]

Hi, so, I don't want to take up too much of everyone's time, people seem really busy with this whole - deaging thing? Except some people are going forward in time? Time mixups thing?

Anyways, the whole thing. I know you're all busy with it.

[ cough. yeah, no, this is not the best introduction she's ever made. ]

I'm just - I'm curious, I guess, so if anyone who's talked to the person who was using this tablet before I apparently took her place wouldn't mind telling me what they know about her, I'd really appreciate it. Her - our? Her name's Max Kearney. I could hack through her - my - locks on content, but it would take a while and I like knowing what's up.

And if anyone knows where I could buy some clothes? I didn't have winter clothes with me and wearing hers feels... weird.

[ Really weird. She grins and waves as she signs off, a little bit forced because seriously, confusion is reigning here, but still friendly enough. ]

[ ooc: She'll be wandering around the Hold for a while, so running into her in person is also totally an option. ]
