[Nothing like a rude awakening at 2:30 in the morning, right? Well, you're in for a treat fellow refugees. It seems like one just flew over the cuckoos nest. Not that you can tell initially. At first this just looks like some inconsiderate kid with rings under his eyes and messy hair, breathing down the camera lens a little too up close and personal.]

Yo. If we haven't met yet, hello. I'm Yosuke. But...but if you're new, you should count to three and then stop listening. Okay? One, two...three. Alright, go away. It's for your own good.

[For emphasis, he clicks the lamp beside him off, and the video goes dark. Nothing to see here, apparently.]

Listen. Guys. I'm curious what people do here for fun. Because uh-look. I've tried sleeping, and training, and then I tried going outside. And talking to the people in the market, and you know. Looking for animals. And I found some, but they were really creepy and mutated. You know? So it's impossible to forget this place is so...

[The light comes back on with a soft click. The phone-roll-up is on the bed table now. Yosuke smiles down at it tightly, and shrugs. Then something thumps in the other room and he jumps at least a foot, gesturing wildly and knocking the device off the table. Someone get the kid some decaf.

He hangs over the side of the bed and gazes at the mobile, his image now fractured like a kaleidoscope, and gives a rather put-upon sigh for a guy who was just trying so hard to be personable.]

Damn it. I'm cracked...

[so he had been pondering about how to interact more over the course of the event, and well, he decided one of the first things to do would be to actually interact with his closest person before anything else, therefore-]

Hey, uh, do you have some free time right now?

[Smooth, Athrun.]

[Right, that over and done with, he's going to just ask the general public a question he's been meaning to ask for a while now.]

If you don't mind me asking, would you mind telling me your world's technology? I've been thinking of other worlds for a while, so if you have the time, feel free to answer.

[That said, he's going to turn the feed off a few seconds after finishing the sentence, considering there's nothing else to be said.]

02 March 2013 @ 07:12 pm
[Bloop. The video turns on to show a shiny new face, a teenage boy who's apparently not completely sure he's doing this thing right. After a moment of scrutinizing the camera he apparently realizes it is in fact recording, and starts talking, the busy market place bustling in the background.]

Uh, hi. I'm Toji. I just got here.

[Yeah, okay. Even he can tell that was basically the lamest intro ever. He grits his teeth a bit and decides to just lay everything down.]

Okay. I'm not gonna pretend I understood halfa what they just told me, but they said they bring a lot of people here, right? From different times and worlds and all that. So that means maybe it's a long shot, but there could be someone here I know.

[Hold on. Someone might misinterpret that. Touji decides to clarify a little, looking just the tiniest bit flustered.]

Not that I need anyone here holdin my hand or nothin, I'm just sayin it'd be nice to see a familiar face.

[A few more moments of deliberation, and Touji changes his mind entirely.]

You know what, forget I asked. Can someone tell me where the best place to get some clothes in this market is? Ones that don't make me look homeless. Wearin this plugsuit everywhere is gettin embarrassing.

[ Text to Lacus; ]

Lacus, this is Kira.

I know this is sudden, but I was wondering if you were free tomorrow. I finished most of my work. I'd really like to go out and explore a bit more.

Would you like to join me?

[ Text to Public; ]

My name is Kira Yamato and I am working on a project, to replace a civilian's leg with an artificial limb.

But I am lacking parts. The most important one is a microcontroller that serves as a brain of my project. If you know where I can find it, I would really appreciate it and it would really change this man's life. It would be much more convenient than making my own from scratch.

[It's late, but apparently tonight is a night Lacus is having a harder time sleeping. So she's still awake, trying to keep Haro from being too loud and waking Cagalli or Sheryl. She decides to check the tablet, maybe others are in a similar position, being friends from home but from different points, like she and Kira were. Maybe they might have some advice that might help. She never had particularly thought of it as an issue, not until Kira had brought it up with the fireworks earlier last month.]

I don't suppose....any others here have friends from home that are from different points? I have one who remembers two years more than I do. I didn't really think anything of it initially, but I'm just wondering how others might have dealt with it, that might help. Two years doesn't seem like that long, but a lot can happen.

[Well. That and, she figures things get more serious and intimate between them over that time. For her, they had only recently started dating, but for Kira they had been for a good while by the point he ended up here as well. That is probably her main concern, though she knows Kira would never push her on it, and that he had assured her it was okay to tell him if she wasn't comfortable. But she doesn't want to upset him either.]

[ This anonymous message will be posted for everyone in Exsilium's network to see. It is simple and easy enough to understand. His wish is simple enough actually. He just wanted to know what drove these people to fight.

What was so attractive about a war that wasn't theirs to begin with? ]

Are we expected to fight simply because we have the weapons to do so?

For those who are fighting, what are you fighting for? How certain are you that you are fighting for the right reasons?

[ Action; ]

[ A few hours after sending the message, he can be found taking apart his tablet. He was studying it and searching for anything that would resemble a bug. Kira is understandably very cautious by nature and takes his privacy very seriously.

Whoever enters the unit will notice messily arranged parts from the tablet and tools on the floor and Kira in the middle of all that chaos with a serious look on his face. ]

[The first thing visible when Lacus turns on the device is her Haro a round pink robot companion that rarely ever left her side. It flaps and bounces as Lacus tells him to shush and catches him, holding him in her lap. She has apparently managed to find her room at least, sitting on the bed after finding she is apparently sharing with a friend from home, Cagalli.]

Haro! Oh, there! Is it working? I think so. Hello everyone. I guess I am one of the new arrivals here, my name is Lacus Clyne. It looks like there were quite a few of us that were brought here from our homes, though I gather this is apparently all quite normal here. I can't help but wonder what might happen back home without us, but I guess it doesn't really seem like there is much choice but to do what we can. As far as I am aware there seems to be no way to get back, at least voluntarily. I am willing to do what I can to help, and unfortunately do have some experience in regards to war back home. Though I admit I am not entirely sure on how these...weapons work, exactly. If anyone could explain more to me that would be great, I know I was a singer back home but even so my voice as a weapon seems...a little strange still, I guess. I don't suppose anyone else has something similar as their weapon that might be able to help? I think I understand the general situation for the most part from when I first got here, but that was one thing that still confused me a little.

Lacus, feeling fine? [Haro piped up, rolling a little in her lap.]

Yes, I am, now please, quiet Pink, or we won't hear if people have replied or not.

I won't accept that!

Come now, Haro. Go to sleep.

[He does, the lights in his eyes going out and he stays still, quiet in her lap for now. Lacus sighs, biting her lip and looking out the window for a moment before turning her attention back to the tablet.]

[...]

Oh! It's still on?

[And she leans over to turn it off. Not that she is clueless with technology, but she had been distracted with Pink.]

[ There's a brief fumbling of the feed before a dark-haired, dark-eyed, dark-skinned face comes into view, countenance stoic and lips pursed thin. When he speaks, his tone is low, stern, and straight to the point, almost cuttingly so. It seems this person doesn't have much patience for beating around the bush. ]

This message is intended for members of the Initiative. I am currently seeking information regarding an organization known as "Celestial Being". If any of you have details regarding their current whereabouts, please contact me immediately.

...in addition, if you've happened to see [ hesitating ] sparkles of some kind in the sky, or anything else out of the ordinary, let me know. Thank you.

[ Yeah, that totally wasn't conspicuous at all. Going to be shutting that feed down now and definitely not muttering tersely in the process. ]

[ a sneeze; acough, and a creak of a door. ]

Ugh.

I knew going out in the snow was bad news.

[ a quiet, affectionate cry echoes, animalistic in origin. Stellaluna's a bit worried about her human. 8( not like him to be so lethargic for a few days.

However, Riku's been spreading a bit of cheer--some of his presents might be a tad late, but they're delivered carefully. And random transports were given pies or torts, even if he doesn't know them. ]

Hope everyone had a good Christmas. Now we just--

[ achoo! Groan, wobble, worried scree. ]

... have the New Year to worry about.

25 December 2012 @ 05:04 am
[Good morning, transports! Mahdi is still in his matched pajamas in lavender flannel, printed with a design of bright blue and purple owls. A glimpse of silver jewelry can be seen beneath the pajamas' unruly folds. His long, dark hair is loose and bed-tangled, a rare glimpse of it not pulled back. He looks a bit nervous and confused, and points to an adorable mini snowman on his nightstand.]

Um, someone was in my room?

Maybe it was Santa? I'm a little bit fuzzy on the Santa thing. I'm not sure I've been good enough to warrant a visit from such a big celebrity.

Anyway, it's a really cute snowperson. I think I'll name hir Snowball.

So thanks, I guess.

[Mahdi sucks in a deep breath. He doesn't mean to be rude...] But please don't come in my room when I'm sleeping, okay?!

[The tablet shows a blonde teen sitting on a couch by a window, clearly inside one the apartments. As usual, the window's home to many raindrops obscuring the view of the outside, but that's okay. It's pretty depressing anyway. A clear view might make it worse.

Said teen takes a drink from a mug with steam coming out of the top. Probably coffee or tea. After a moment, she scowls and looks at the screen.]

For being dragged into a war like this, things seem [pause] stagnant. Maybe it's because I'm still new... but maybe things are still unfolding for these people. If it's a waiting game, I doubt either side benefits much. Resources can't be easy to come by, can they? [she sighs] Thinking on this too much won't help anyone.

[Her gaze goes back to the window.]

The rain really gets old. Has there ever been a break from this weather?

[The feed turns on to a serious young man as he examined the tablet in front of him, though that scrutinizing look quickly disappeared when he noticed that the video feed has turned on, in fact looking quite impressed at the device's speed before speaking.]

I don't know if this could be seen by everyone, but it's worth a shot.

[There's a short pause before the male continued.]

How many of you here received a weapon that's out of the norm upon your arrival, and can someone point me out to someone who is experienced with that type of training?

[Before he introduced himself, as per the usual protocols.]

My name is Athrun Zala, it appears I'm as much help as a beginner when it comes to information right now, so any more in addition to the Initiative's words would be welcome.

[ hello, Exsilium. Larsa carefully adjusts the camera before he gives a little nod to himself, and pulls back. he looks a little worn, but content nonetheless. ]

In the recent weeks I've found residence here, I've grown to learn that the medicines of the Initiative are not explicitly trusted by many of us.

My homeworld has a variety of medicines meant for both wounds and illnesses in the battlefield, and in my time as a student, I learned these recipes carefully. [ his gaze now goes to the small variety of bottles; the liquids inside differ in color and shimmer with ethereal light. ] Although many ingredients cannot be found here, there are reliable substitutes that work just as well.

[ and reminded of his rather... eventful gathering of ingredients, the corners of his mouth quirk up. ] To everyone who helped me collect, thank you. I am in your debt.

Its test run ran smoothly. Should anyone find themselves in need of a medicine and prefer not to turn to the Initiative, they are welcome to stop by Unit 304.

[ a brief nod to the camera. ]

Thank you.
