Coby
23 June 2013 @ 02:45 am
[Coby was facing away from the communicator. His eyes were tightly shut and reddened at the lids and just underneath them. Despite this, he was looking very much pleased with himself.]

For those who need assistance in their efforts to rebuild their losses, I'm absolutely available. As I don't get out terribly much and to those of you who may be fairly new to this island may call me Coby. I'm a captain of the marines.

If you'd like hand-to-hand training, I'm absolutely available!

[Raising one hand promptly, Coby saluted the empty space that definitely didn't house the camera of his comm.]

Have a pleasant afternoon!

Sango
23 June 2013 @ 11:22 am
[Sango doesn't waste much time once she gets the feed on.]

A few things.

First... I would like to have some sparring partners and some teachers. While I'm good with my own weapons, it's pretty clear that they're not advanced enough to take on the UE's technology. If someone would be able to show me how to use something more effective, maybe some sort of gun, I'd be grateful and would do something in return. I think other people have already offered, but I'm also open to instructing in swordsmanship and related combat things.

Second, I wanted to say thank you to those of you who have been concerned or helped me out lately, both in arriving here and in... well, recent events. It means a lot.

Third. [She hesitates, wondering how to phrase this.] Say that someone from your world, who's... from later in time, tells you something bad happens in your future. You don't trust the person who says it, but they don't exactly have a good reason to lie about it at this point. What...

[Where is she even going with this? Sango stops abruptly and her frown is nearly palpable on the feed.]

You know what, never mind. Just sparring partners and teachers and thank-yous are all, I guess.

Ashelia B'Nargin Dalmasca
23 June 2013 @ 04:00 pm
[Ashe sit on top of a flat broken slab of concrete, she's been helping out with the cleanup efforts as evidenced by the layer of sweat on her brow and the debris around her. She dabs her forehead with her sleeve, and sets aside her drink. A heavy sigh escapes her lips as she begins to speak, she doesn't face the camera, rather she looks away. It seems that recent events have taken a toll on her bringing forth her most painful memories.]

Surviving is the easy part, rebuilding from the aftermath is not. One knows that no matter what it will never be same, it will only remind one of those who have perished and of the unspeakable horrors one witnessed. It matters not what one does it will always be there, like a phantom pain or the unspeakable guilt of living while your loved ones dies.

Jesse Pinkman
23 June 2013 @ 06:54 pm
Yo, hey. This is Jesse Pinkman, for you guys that ain't met me yet.

[And for those who do know him and saw him down in the catacombs: he's looking infinitely better now. Bathed and trimmed his facial hair and everything, no longer appearing like he's at death's door.]

I know people are still sick and we got a lotta rebuilding to do, so I totally get it if nobody shows. But if you been here a while, you know we do this thing were we get together at the end of each month to make cookies for the new guys who show up on the 1st. You know, set up a tent and feed the hungry and answer questions and whatever. Even with it being a shit month, I don't think it'd be fair to let those guys down. So I'm gonna be out there, and you're, um, welcome to come and help bake and give stuff out, too.

I'll be baking all day on the 30th, the door'll be open and you can just drop in. Unit 409.

Hope everybody's doing okay.

(( No baking log again this month because what is time, so handwaving that, but here's an example of what the newbie log thread will be like. No need for permission to participate! Jesse lets everyone help out and teaches anyone who doesn't know how to bake. ))

Berserker (Lancelot of the Lake)
23 June 2013 @ 08:05 pm
[This is Berserker, standing in one of the training halls. Shortly after the feed comes on, he prompts himself to stand back from it and take his shirt off, immediately confusing his intentions for the message he's about to send. He's not wearing a little collar and bow tie, so there's a low risk that a Chip n'Dales show is about to break out, though. A little off camera, a younger man stands there, holding a roll of duct-tape.]

My Masters. I have little understanding of how to send private messages, so I will simply ignore the necessity. As I understand, you both have been distracted. The benefits of my binding to your wills has provided physical benefits to you both, yet little has come of it. I suppose it's time to change such a thing. Just the same--no, I am not embittered by your refusal to allow my death. I have gotten past such a petty discrepancy.

[He raised his left hand and then set it behind his back horizontally. The young man approached and began duct-taping Berserker's arm to his back.]

Given my perfect mastery of weaponry and incomparable swordsmanship, I cannot teach you in the conventional way. I would recite the saying, 'I can beat you with both arms tied behind my back,' but that would defeat the purpose of you observing my technique. Instead, I will have one arm fixed behind my back to create a semblance of hope for you both.

[The young man finished rolling the duct-tape, heavily rolling his eyes as he listened to Berserker. When he was done, he sauntered off, the sound of him scraping money off the ground heard as he hunched over a little.]

I will remain in one of the training rooms, practicing my conservation of energy. Please arrive at the same time to minimize your injuries.
