Alice Liddell

[The video starts out with nothing out of the ordinary, just Alice looking like she has something to say and indeed she does. Even if, like typical, she doesn't look particularly healthy. Pale skin, dark circles around her eyes... Some of you have already seen her like that. Others might be a little confused at the drastic change in appearance.

Still, that's a story for another time.]

It certainly has been a rather trying number of days, hasn't it? I must say that-

[... or not. Her pendant quickly begins to glow more and more brightly, much to Alice's surprise.]

What in the name of...?

[Brighter and brighter it gets, until a blinding flash hits the screen, accompanied by an audible "boom" and the sound of her device being dropped. Everything is silent for the next couple of minutes as the camera continues to record nothing but white. Finally, the brightness subsides and the view goes back to normal. But where's Alice?]

Blasted thing. Would it be asking too much for a warning next time? Your timing is as inconvenient as that mangy Cat's.

[She sounds alright at least, and her words are no less sharp. That's good too.

Viewers now hear the sound of approaching footsteps as someone steps in front of the fallen communicator. Striped stockings and knee-high black boots...

The device is lifted back up and, and the legwear from before was actually Alice's! In fact, she looks rather different all around, and considerably healthier. Though some might actually recognize this form of hers more than the disheveled girl they saw moments ago. Despite what happened, she looks rather calm.]

My apologies for what just transpired. I've yet to fully master usage of my so-called "weapon".

Is... [wait. 'hem.]

Is Chloe not here anymore? At all? I've looked, but... [but yanno. no dice.]

I forgot to thank her.

[The setting: The camera is currently facing towards Lucifer, who is standing in some particularly dreary-looking ruins. There's some semblance of a roof here though, so both the camera and the devil are both dry. Also in the shot is an overlarge raven, to whom Lucifer is feeding raw chunks of meat. He continues doing this as he speaks.]

Given as this war seems to be in the scale of every other war I've ever seen, it's not really that exciting to me. However, the fact that these people are actually pulling folks without their acknowledgement through dimensions is very interesting. I have some questions on it that I'd like to put to the intelligence of the masses. This is going to be a little long, so get a sandwich.

[He feeds the last bit of meat to the raven and pats its beak. The thing flies off. Then, he takes the camera in his bloody hands and sits in a corner.]

So far what we know is that this device they have can take entities of any strength, shape or species, from any time period, from any universe. It can take multiple people from the same universe, and people from different variations of the same universe. In short, to the best of our knowledge, that one creature is here has no effect on any other creature. Additionally, while some people randomly 'go home,' this has no effect on creatures close to them from their home universe.

If you have some kind of power in that universe, you'll likely to keep it, even if it's from an external source, like a god you pray to a magical force, like the Light. Can worshipers here feel the touch of their gods on their backs? Can the gods here listen to the prayers of their followers?

The Initiative claims it takes people with the possibility for heroism, but unless I hear some actual specifications I'm hesitant to include that. Especially because I'm sure some people here would disagree on the heroism of others. What qualifies 'possibility for heroism'? What happens if I've helped an old lady across a street and started a hospital fire by pouring gasoline on the neo-natal ward?

My other question is, why aren't there repeats of people? Given the circumstances, it seems unlikely to not pull multiple copies of the same person with slight variations in their universe.

My guess would be as follows: when they boot the thing up, it has a certain amount of... pulls, we'll say. However, each pull of a repeat, it doesn't take that person. However, you don't get another pull. That's why there's waves of people, but a different number every time. But the question is why? Repeats would help. It would increase body count and some repeats would obviously be welcome. But... none.

That's all. Feel free to contribute.

[timed after this. Because this is just.... not alright and -- ]

I can't be the only person who comes from a place, where for the most part... elves, fae, bogarts, and all such manner of creatures are something that you hit over the head with a poker before you befriend? Honestly.

[No, she's not afraid to admit, doesn't care who reads it. They're empathy lacking monsters as far as that goes for home.]

Not that that applies to all worlds, obviously, I'm not an idiot -- and was raised with better manners mind you. But I doubt that I'm alone in this.

[Says the governess related to Death of all things -- but that's different. Death is supposed to be a killer, and she's also fairly sure he's capable of more empathy than most people would ever imagine. He spared her father for her after all.

But she's worried, all the same. Just because their worlds are round it doesn't mean it can be that different. It was an oddly isolating feeling when the things you knew to be true were turned upside down. Again.]
