Stark based technology. I should have known.

[Those are the first words from the brunette's mouth as she examines her way through the interface of the device with an eyebrow cocked up. A sardonic grin rests on her lips as well. She's getting a hold on it quickly because... well, it's actually kinda like being 'back home'. She didn't have the money for this kind of tech back then but she had used some of it in school so--

Anyhow, she sighs out after she's assured the thing is broadcasting. The next bit is muttered to herself.]

What am I even supposed to say?

[Back to the device now. Her voice is a touch singsong here.]

Oh hey guys, it's great to meet you! Boy I can't wait to help win a war I didn't sign up for because some jerks aren't being... well... jerks.

[Now her hand goes back to her forehead. Okay, April, try to do this without being a complaining bitch maybe.]

I understand everything that's going on. You're all from different worlds, I'm from a different world, there's the Initiative and some people going to other worlds to take resources. What I want to know now is what do we do.

[Her brow is furrowed when she looks back up, gesturing a hand and looking off to one side.]

Do we simply sit and wait until these people need us?

[A pause. She frowns.]

Or train and wait? Is that really all?

[The voice that speaks is hollow, computerized.  To anyone that doesn't know otherwise they'd think there's a robot on the other end.]

I guess now that things have calmed down and I've had time to dig around on the network so graciously provided to us by our kidnappers, I should introduce myself.  I am Ghost.  No, that's not my real name it's a codename.  No, I will not tell you my real name.  You only need know me as Ghost.

I have noticed a number of undead running around, I do hope none of you will pose a threat.

[There's a pause as she lets that hang in the air a moment.]

I guess that was it.  I'm really not much good with these kinds of things.

Medivh
08 November 2012 @ 04:39 am
[When the video clicks on, it's from a ground view point. Obviously whoever owns it has put it to one side. All that can be seen are the standard initiate walls everyone finds themselves staring at to begin with, and a pair of legs clad in brown boots.]

If it's not one thing it's another, and even when you keep your eyes on the "another" something else will sweep you off your feet. Literally.

[The voice is that of a male, sounding almost bemused at the situation as Medivh talks to himself.]

This device though... it's not of Azerothian fare.... Even I don't recognize this place.

[The feet start pacing back and forth as Medivh mulls over his current predicament silently. Suddenly he picks up the device, glancing briefly at it to show a middle-aged human. It's not clear if the sorcerer is talking to the device or himself again. Anyone who knows their Azerothian history will recognise the staff of Atiesh in his hand. For those who don't, it's a gorgeous staff with a bird perched on the top.]

I'm sure it'll make itself known before long. They always do. I am Medivh and it appears I will be in room 409 if the person here is to be believed.

The Doctor
08 November 2012 @ 07:59 am
[When the video comes on it's showing Ten's face, and he's looking amused. And somewhat disturbed. It's a strange amalgamation, but he's managing it.]

You know, when they said I'd be sharing an apartment with a "night elf half-demon" brimming with energy, I thought it would be hilarious. I mean not everyone can say that they live with a "night elf half-demon" brimming with energy.

Sounds like a good book title. I should write it.

And I won't deny it's going to be interesting. Makes for great research even if I can't seem to pin that fellow down. I have, however, found one downside.

[Ten turns the device around so the feed now shows the floor of his apartment. And from the door all the way out of the room is a trail of footprints. Not only are they large and shaped like hooves, but they're burning with bright green fire.]

Yeaaaaah. Uh. I do hope that this isn't tied in with the mysterious disappearance of the couch. I needed that couch. To sit on.

[And, like any good Doctor, the feed ends with Ten attempting to prod said flames with one finger. Just because he can.]

‣ utena tenjou.
08 November 2012 @ 09:50 am
[There is not much that outright startles Utena nowadays — she's fairly accustomed to the unusual and bizarre (and more importantly, used to rationalizing it), but the weeks since her arrival in this place have been a trial by fire, so to speak.

But she's adjusted, the best she can, and so when her comm device video flickers on, she looks to be in good spirits, all things considered. That is, if her viewers can actually see her. The video appears to be moving erratically. Often, Utena dips out of sight, only to be seen again. It's at an odd angle too, as if the device has been set on the ground, and is tilted slightly to the side.

It probably has a lot to do with the fact that she's doing lunges. In her assigned room. It's not a lot of space, but apparently she's making due. She stops long enough to address her (assumed) audience.]

Hi, everyone. [The device is lifted, and for a moment there's nothing but flashes of bright pink hair before her face appears — friendly, but a little tired.] I've met some of you already, but I haven't said hello on this thing yet. There's a lot of people listening to this, right? Um, I guess not everyone's "people," though, so maybe that's not the right word. Is it rude to say "people" then? If there's a better word, I want to know it. [She frowns, befuddled. Interspecies communication is a new thing for her, obviously.] My name's Tenjou Utena — er, Utena Tenjou. That's the order most of you would say it in. I'm from Japan; is anyone else from there? Or...er...Earth? I've been here for weeks now, and I'm still sorta getting used to this place. Those monsters from before...I've never seen anything like that.

[She looks troubled and shifts into a contemplative silence, but something else comes to mind that makes her brighten up.] I'm pretty glad it's over. Say, is there anything to do around here besides training? Does anyone play a sport?

[A sigh. She stretches an arm behind her head.] I could really go for a basketball game...or baseball.

TARDIS | "Idris"
08 November 2012 @ 11:45 am
[ A scruffy woman appears on the screen. Her hair is a wild mess and her eyes are darkly blotted with eyeshadow. She rather looks like a girl that got trashed and passed out with her make-up on. Hold onto your pants - it doesn't get much better. ]

Hello! Hello? Pleasure to meet you, I'm Sexy.

No, no, that's not right. That's his name, not for you.

TARDIS! I'm Time-And-Relative-Dimension-In-Space.

No. Wait. Yes, but no. What was she called?

[ The woman ducks her head, thoughtfully, one translucent nail furiously tapping at her lower lip. Nevermind liquor, she's chattering away way too quickly. ]

Ah! Idris! You may call me Idris.

Where's my thief? Thief! Yoohoo! I know you're only ten. I know we've not met yet, but you know me, surely you do. Will. Have. Tenses! Thief? Has anyone seen my thief?

[She’ll tap the tablet VERY loudly for a while. If anyone asks it’s because she’s not used to using the video function, but really it’s just to get others’ attention.

AHEM.
]

In a few days we will be having our second defense meeting. I realize they have dragged in several new people and I would say welcome but I highly doubt everyone feels that way.

For those new, however, I’m certain you’ve discovered the issues some may have with the Initiative. I’ll be honest when I say they could hardly give a damn about us. We are weapons to them and nothing more. Although there have been some improvements in their leadership they still leave us on the battlefields to fend for ourselves with little guidance and with little warning beforehand.

In the past months our issues have been with organizing ourselves into a unified force. We are here whether we like it or not, the more we fight the issue the less likely we will survive.

This defense group is meant to be our unification, it will defend those who cannot defend themselves and provide a more tactical offense.

I encourage you to join us and just see what this group is capable of doing. I don’t expect everyone to agree with any unification but I hope most will understand its necessity to at least try and do so. We may not agree with our predicament but there is little to fight otherwise.

The second defense meeting will be held just outside of the botanical gardens, we’ll be starting in the early morning on… [Stupid earth calendars, have a pause] Saturday.

Thank you and I hope you consider coming.

[There’s a long pause. And. Oh. Almost forgot.] And… I’ll try and answer any questions that others may have, concerning the meeting or otherwise. For the moment I am leading it, but there will be a nomination and vote come the third meeting of which I hope everyone who is able attends. At that time we will be deciding which people are suitable to lead smaller groups and should that go well, an overall leader will be decided come a later time.

[OOC: Here are all the OOC deets and guide to scheduling - Or a better explanation than Fiona's. HAH. THANKS GUYS YOU ARE FABULOUS.]

Alright, I've been here over a month now and it's not the apocalypse I'm used to. So things aren't as scarce as back home.

[Kicking an addiction back home only to go back to it here.]

Anyone know where I can get a pack of cigarettes? I feel like I'll want them a lot more the longer I'm here.

[ the image appears shaky at first - a sure result of complete ignorance on how to actually handle the blighted device - before it is moving to show an elf eying it with suspicious distaste. ]

I've questions. For those who've been here longer than I. [ he shifts, a subtle frown over his otherwise unreadably solemn expression; his tone is level and steeled, albeit sharp. ] What does this - Initiative expect us to do?

Fight their battles? I do not know what manner of magic - [ there's a twist to his lip that can only mark disgust. ] - they posses that was used to trap us here but -

They cannot win this war of their on their own without forcefully involving others. Yet some of you are quick enough to trust them, to think they will send us all back. Why? [ He sighs, bright olive eyes narrow, harden. ] They seek nothing but power to further their own gains. A situation I have seen far too often where I am from.

What have they made all of you do in your time here, I wonder?

[ There is a pause, then. A break. If he knew how to make a filter - if he knew what that was- he'd be making it right now.

A new expression passes his brows now - reminiscent of pain, though it appears as a flinch. his hand curls into a fist on the table he is sitting at.
] Hawke. I need to speak with you.

[ because pride stops him from openly asking for help he secretly may need. ]

Koltira Deathweaver
08 November 2012 @ 06:25 pm
[Koltira's at his lake, seated comfortably on a frozen platform in the center of the water. He's half-dressed in armor--no breastplate, pauldrons, or gauntlets, but he's got greaves on his crossed legs. Otherwise, he's wearing a simple, black tunic with a high collar and long sleeves. Byfrost is visible behind him, stuck in the ice and surrounded by a black, animated miasma. His bright, cold eyes are intensely focused on the tablet and whomever he might be reaching with it, and his manner and bearing are as stoically formal as ever.]

In Azeroth, there is a celebration called Hallow's End. I know similar events are common on Earth and perhaps elsewhere, but the holiday had specific, unique meanings for us. Recently, for example, free undead used Hallow's End to commemorate breaking the Lich King's shackles on their souls.

[he grins here, though it's slight and pained, before continuing.]

But prior to that, the humans of my world took it as a period of reflection. They built an effigy, a wicker man, and they participated in a simple ritual. Each of them took up a torch, lit it on a bonfire, and then tossed it onto the dry straw. The burning torch represented the past: memories, anxieties, worries, burdens. By throwing the torch onto the effigy, they let go of their troubles, so as to more easily face the future.

I am not suggesting that the past is so easily cleansed. I know full well that it is not. But I find the ritual worthwhile. It is a moment's peace. A meditation. And it is something I could well use. Perhaps some of you feel the same.

In any case, though the traditional days for this event passed while we were preoccupied, I intend to build the wicker man. If you'd like to help with the burning, you may visit me in a week's time.

[Directions to an area somewhat south of his lake, but still in the clearing, follow. After that, there's quiet for a few moments, then some irritated button-tapping ... this guy just doesn't know how to use his tablet. Finally, he sighs, and adds.]

Chloe, I shall begin work on your necklace shortly. Please bring me a hair tie.

First things first - Initiative? Really? Come on, couldn'tcha be at least a little original? I mean I'm having a serious case of been there, done that. And for the record? Not really looking forward to doing it again. I've had the tour, I've seen the shinies - and I'll say again. Not interested. Opposite of interested. Me and freaky government strongholds go way back. We had a very hot and heavy relationship, but we're seeing other people now, and both of us are better for it. So, second thing? If you could just, you know - help a girl out and point me toward the nearest exit? That'd be real peachy. Failing that? I'm not your strong-arm. You can't control me. Don't even try.

[ WELL, he was going to have to post to this network thing eventually, but only after some forethought and a lot of paging through older posts to find the guide about posting. In particular, the part about how to keep someone specific from answering posts. Sorry, Prestor, he's not sure what he's going to do about you yet.

So, here we have it. Welcome to the world of intranets, Caesar.

[ Filtered from Lord "Deathwing" Prestor ]

So is it common for people to drop into this place and start recruiting for armies or is that just the in thing to do lately?

[ He's new. For all he knows, maybe it is normal! ]

One, I could see, but there's been three or four and that isn't even counting that defense meeting someone mentioned earlier.
