This is really quite seamless, isn't it?
These handheld ta8lets, I mean. They're very streamline and quite convenient! I can see why they would have such a large appeal, even in a place as desolate as this.
Since everything appears to 8e in working order, I suppose I should introduce myself.
My name is Aranea. While I am new to your world, I have take ample time to prepare myself 8efore em8arking further into such an initially confusing environment.
I admit that even I was a little overwhelmed 8y the sudden change in surroundings, and while the aesthetics aren't particularly something I think anyone would wish to 8ecome accustom to, there is a certain charm, perhaps? In the sense that 8eauty can come from the maca8re, or something of the sort. The situation we've found ourselves in is not too far from others I have watched, truth 8e told. 8uilding a civlization out of ruin is no easy task, and while I wouldn't necessarily call this the pinnacle of industry, o8vious improvements have 8een made. It feels to 8e a very functional environment.
Actually, this might 8e the perfect time to have made my appearance! Only 8eing a8le to witness such events and not take part in them was a little frustrating. I am not discounting the value of o8servation, of course, only my own wish to 8e an active mem8er in the historic process.
It is an unfortunate 8eginning, to 8e sure, 8ut the resilience to continue despite hardships feels to me to 8e a very human characteristic. I must express my admiration for this species that I only can profess to knowing in passing. I hope this will not only 8e an opportunity to take part in something truly fascinating and consequential, 8ut also to learn more a8out other 8eings.
Not having the pretext of imminent and eternal annihilation is certainly a perk.
8ut I digress!
Though it may seem a 8it off considering the circumstances, I look forward to taking on this struggle together!
Although, 8efore I forget, I have heard rumors of some local feasting and festivities to 8e taking place this time of your solar sweep. If you don't mind satiating my curiosity as I am nota8ly unaware of the significance, what exactly is happening? What is 8eing cele8rated?

[There's a fresh face on the network today. Although she's never used anything like it before at home (this looks way too expensive for her mom to get her), Mei's had experience with computers and with operating mult-connected calls before. It's sort of like an XTransceiver in that sense.

Which is why she'll be greeting the feed with a wave and a smile, and looks hardly perturbed by the looming giant and intimidating green Serperior behind her. A Serperior that's quietly curious about this little device.]

Hey there! So I guess I'm considered a new Transport here, and if nobody minds, I've got a question or two that wasn't answered by our lovely guides.

First off... [Her smile fades a little bit. It's something that's been bugging her since arriving to the city, and as much as she's trying not to let herself get upset over it, it's hard not to worry.] ...has anyone else come with... without a couple things that they should be with? I know it's a bit hard to explain, but I'm missing some of team. I only came with Hibiscus here, and I'd reeeeeeeally like to know where the rest of my Pokemon went to since they were with me last time I checked...

And... [Perking up again with a little nervous laughter.] Sorry, I didn't mean to be so rude. My name's Mei and this is Hibiscus here! [She points back to the Serperior who merely nods in recognition.] I suppose if we're really stuck here, then a "it's nice to meet you all" is in order!

|_・) ヾ(^∇^)

Ah, this... this brings me back. Both to my ridiculous and foolish youth and ... the travesty of the future... “ψ(`∇´)ψ

Still, it is in those moments that ones find clarity and I indeed find it now upon looking at these ruins. What could it be? You what to know? Well... I have but one simple question... ( ´△`)

... does this island support any means to transfer data? I know it has no Internet, but it's just too much trouble to go through the usual channels for these things. I want to download some new crossword puzzles. I have a feeling this world has some interesting ones to solve.

(#/。\#) Please, any help would be appreciated. Even if you can't acquire me means to download some puzzles... at least, point me in the direction to find them. (ーー;)

[The video clicks on to show one of the streets scattered around Exsilium, the camera panned slightly upward, and it is half-covered by an oily black hand. After a few seconds it tilts down to reveal the owner of the hand, a woman with very blue skin, her eyes slightly narrowed in thought but her expression amused, her black hair half falling over her face and half held away by a series of small red clips. Behind her head appears to be four oily black tentacles that writhe faintly as she moves. The top of her clothing, visible around her neck, appears to be shifting against her skin as well.]

[She’s gliding along, but she slows to a stop as she studies the camera, and after a few seconds seems to realize that it’s transmitting.]

Hmm. They did say people could hear me…[Her voice is absent-minded, but when she speaks again it is stronger, more direct.] Hello out there, people of the future? Or the past. Whatever.

[She shrugs and her gaze shifts away again, looking at the buildings she’s passing, and she speaks as she begins moving again.] Eddie told me about his time, but I was expecting something…grander, I guess. I know there’s a war going on but this place looks like it was designed by someone who never even heard of music. I mean, really, narrow buildings, straight streets, everything is so…utilitarian.

[She says the word like she doesn’t even like the way it sounds.]

Where’s the soul? Where’s the music? This place is supposed to be awesome, it’s not even managing boring. I’ve barely arrived and I already think most of it is tedious.

[The background changes as she enters the apartment buildings, hunting for the one that was apparently 'hers.' She's never had an apartment before, this could be interesting.]

Anyway. I'm Ophelia. The pleasures all yours, trust me. I'd tell you about myself but apparently nothing from back home matters here. A clean slate. It's sort of appealing. And a little depressing. And kind of boring.

But hey, free reign to do what I want, right? [She glances down at the camera again and smirks an almost malicious smirk.] This should be fun.

Elmer C. Albatross | the Smile Junkie
09 December 2012 @ 03:36 pm
[The feed pops on to show a young man smiling pleasantly, and looking fascinated with the gadget in his hands.]

This computer is really amazing, isn't it? I thought things this far in the future would be so far advanced that it'd make my head spin, but this is quite nice. It's so convenient.

I figured I should use it to introduce myself! [He waggles his fingers in a hello gesture.] My name's Elmer C. Albatross, and I'm fairly certain these Initiative blokes got mixed up and meant to choose someone else over me. They don't seem to believe me on that. But now that I'm here, I'll try to make the best of it.

So what's this place like? What all do you do? I'd like to hear all about it.

Kratos Aurion
09 December 2012 @ 05:37 pm
[As the feed comes on, an somewhat intimidating redheaded man standing somewhere outside can be seen eyeing the device. His expression, though relatively indifferent, is slightly annoyed. Getting thrown into a second warring world after having ended a war back home? Yeah, it isn't particularly enjoyable.

Upon seeing the communicator function as it should, the irritation shifts into a look of mild approval. If nothing else, their technology was simple enough to use.]

I am Kratos Aurion, one of those among the new arrivals in Exsilium. [Introduction aside, it's time to get down to more pressing business.] The technology within this world must be substantially advanced to permit for time travel. What do their devices use as a fuel source?

[Bad experience with overuse of an energy source to the point of the world nearly being destroyed make one cautious about such things. Hmm on the note of their technology....]

I've another inquiry, one pertaining to the Initiative's transportation capabilities: is it commonplace for them to be able to bring in those who have already been thrown into a world which is not their own? On that matter, is there anyone present who is aware of any of the following: Sylvarant, Tethe'alla or Death Ci--

[Kratos gets abruptly --and painfully-- cut off with a brick falling from the building behind him and hitting him square in the head. The communicator gets dropped, landing face first on the ground. Though nothing but darkness is visible for a good couple seconds, a few rather colorful choice words can be heard coming from off screen.

It takes a moment before the device gets picked up and a very displeased looking Kratos can be seen rubbing the back of his head. If one were to pay close enough attention, they would notice the hand is covered with a fair bit of blood.]

...If someone might provide directions to an infirmary, it would be greatly appreciated.

[Thrust into yet another warring world and dealing with a potential concussion. Great. Just Great. The feed gets flicked off.]

GUINEVERE ❖ ❝GWEN❞
[ as the feed opens, you only hear a voice. A rather anxious voice, if you want to get specific. ]

It might be working. She said I should only press down on - perhaps if I asked her again - might be magic - oh!

[ and suddenly, video! The background is the familiar sight of the farmer's market and in addition, you get one young woman who is currently busying her bottom lip between her teeth who is holding a sword in one hand and a vase of flowers in the other.

Both are weapons of a sort, if you're wondering. She eyes the vase of flowers, uncertainty written on her face. ]

I don't suppose they might come in use here. Not that – they do at Camelot, not to me anyway as they're not mine. Not that I'd want them to be.

[ rambling, she is. ]

I'm not even sure if this is working. But she said to speak regularly into it.

[ a small sigh as she presses a hand to her forehead. Ok, start over. ]

My name is Guinevere, handmaiden to the Lady Morgana of Camelot, if she is here – not that I'd want her to be –

[ because she'll be so angry being trapped, she was never good at being told what to do. Not that this is the subject at all.

Maybe she should put the vase down. ]

And I do not want you to be here either, if you do not wish to. But if I can do anything or assist in any way I would gladly do so.

[ a beat, a smile. ]

It's nice to meet you all, truly.

Souji Seta
09 December 2012 @ 10:21 pm
--sort of like a folding iPhone or something... Oh, it's recording.

[Promptly, the feed spins around, shifting its focus from its owner's feet to his face. The young man on the screen sizes up the device for a moment, then clears his throat.]

Hey.

[After a beat, once more, he clears his throat. He's more of a listener than a talker, really.]

My name is Souji Seta. It's nice to meet you all. [A bow.] To the Initiative, while I admit this is all a lot for me to take in, and I would've liked a little more say in the matter, I can at least appreciate what you're trying to do under the circumstances. Hopefully I won't let you down. If anyone else needs help with anything, I'll be happy to do what I can.

...While I'm at it, if there's anyone from Inaba watching this, contact me as soon as you can. I just want to go over a few things before I settle in.

Ionae
09 December 2012 @ 10:39 pm
[Ionae has been even harder to find than normal lately. If it were up to her she'd just vanish from society entirely, but some things demand you leave your bedroom, and her notebook never stops pinging her with notifications of new network posts. Feel free to run into her on one of her few errands. She's even more withdrawn to the point of eying total strangers suspiciously or crossing the street to avoid people, so it may be tricky.

Plan A: Hide forever. Clearly it's not going to work. Maybe it's time to actually try to think like a human being...]

[Filtered to Blaine]

Can we talk? In person, preferably?

I can't believe this place. There seriously aren't any horses? At all? And I mean normal horses, not weird ones. [ Like ones that talk. Figuring he really is out of luck there, he sighs. ] As if finding everything for a trip like this on short notice isn't hard enough as it is...

[ But now he's just whining at the network. Time to get to his real point here. ]

This island used to have horses, though, didn't it? Is there anywhere that might still have saddles sitting around or am I going to have to get creative?

[ See, this is what happens when he complains too loudly about being bored. Especially where Collette can hear him. ]
