Leliana
02 September 2012 @ 08:01 am
[ The feed turns on. Leliana looks closely at the notebook and waves her hand in front of the video feed. It mirrors her movements. There are other people in other windows and they are all watching her! She wonders if this is what the other side of the mirror feels like. ]

This… communication device is so interesting! Is it some sort of, um, ancient magic? I don’t know much about those, I am afraid, but it is certainly useful, no?

This place is really grand. I don’t think I have ever been anywhere like here. Not in Ferelden. Not in Orlais. Not in Orzammar. I am sure these walls and windows have a lot of stories to tell, and these grand spaces have a lot of adventure to uncover. [She giggles.] I am going to find out, soon enough.

I still can’t believe I’m here! I can’t tell if I’m dead or if I’m dreaming. I hope nobody pinches me awake soon, at least.

Oh. But I have certainly babbled enough, I think. I am Leliana! It’s a pleasure to meet all of you!

[ ooc: psst, mods, it's Leliana not Lelania in the tags. :D ]

[After some short bursts of static- someone has clearly been having a very good poke at the workings of this thing and seems to be continuing to do so- the picture clears enough to reveal a rather dishevelled looking face cast partially into shadow by a distinctive green and white hat. The careful observer might catch the movement of hazel eyes blinking once, twice, then an endearingly lovable grin lights up the man's unshaven face.]

Good afternoon! I do hope I’m coming through loud and clear, I’ve been informed that these are communication devices and I thought that it might be in my best interests to test that theory.

[And suddenly, from nowhere it seems that this scruffy, innocuous looking man has produced a fan and is tapping it thoughtfully against his bottom lip.]

This is quite an interesting turn of events for me, I dare say it's not every day a man finds himself transported centuries into the future and told that every person here is suddenly in possession of a sentient weapon of all things!

[There's a quick snap of his fan as he opens it and begins to fan it in front of his face, so anyone looking can't see the very slight smirk that tugs at his lips.]

Who ever heard of such a thing~? Ah! I don't suppose anyone happens to have seen a black cat wondering aimlessly around on their travels? I seem to have misplaced mine...

[ The controls of the netbook are clumsy at best, but eventually Gamora gets the video feed to switch on. There's a displeased green face with blank white eyes staring into the video for a second or so before she starts talking. ]

I'll assume this thing is working - here I thought everything on my 'things I don't want to ever experience' list had been crossed out already. Turns out that there's always something else. Who knew?

[ While her face might be settled on something termed 'neutral dislike' her tone implies a level of discontent closer to scathing contempt. ]

For the record - I quit all this way back. No one cares about 'we need your help or we will all die' when it's not your own universe. Planet, whatever. So if anyone's going to try and stop me from getting out of here, good flarking luck.

[ And with that, the feed ends. ]

[The feed turns on to a pair of large golden eyes. They pull back just far enough to reveal a dark-skinned face framed in black hair--a woman who looks to be in her mid to late twenties. A large bowl--about the size of a mixing bowl--rests on the seat next to her, the tips of a pair of chopsticks barely visible over the rim; she’d wasted no time raiding the fridge after her arrival]

[Frowning, she reaches out to hit a key on the netbook, clearly not yet at ease with her new communication device.]

They could have better explained how to use this... [She mutters, giving the computer a narrow look as she decides whether or not it’s actually working. Finally, she shrugs, figuring she might as well try.]

I assume everyone got the same story upon arrival. I can’t help but wonder at the fact that people with the power to pull us from our homes without warning aren’t capable of winning a war without our help.

[Her voice is even, with a clear sardonic edge that suggests she’s not quite ready to jump in and be a team player just yet. Still, she’s not rushing to judgment just yet, preferring to gauge the attitudes of others presumably in her situation.]

So, tell me--assuming you all cooperate with our [abductors] hosts--how did they convince you to do so?

[pauses]

And on the off chance there’s anyone here from Seireitei or Karakura, I’d appreciate you contacting me.

[Frowns again, and reaches out to tap the screen.]

Shit, this thing isn’t on, is it?

[She sighs and stands up; might as well go out in her cat form and gather information that way, until she can figure out how to work this stupid thing.]

[That decided, she hooks her thumbs into her waistband and draws her pants off in one smooth motion.]

[Luckily for those more squeamish, her shirt hits the tops of her thighs, keeping this PG-13]

Kallen Kouzuki
02 September 2012 @ 06:35 pm
[The feed shows a bench and the walls of the training facility. It's simply that for a few moments until a young woman in workout shorts and a sports bra falls on to the bench and exhales heavily. Judging by her state, she's been training in some form for quite some time now. She remains there for a minute just relaxing. Soon enough, though, she turns to face the camera.]

I've been meaning to ask some things for a few days now. If we're expected to fight back, go on missions, rebel or something, is there any organization in this place? Teams, classes, trainers?

There's no common denominator anyone's found, right? We were randomly picked from millions of others and dropped here. It makes no sense.

[The redhead sighs and rolls her shoulders before continuing.] How many of us even have experience with resistance fighting like this? Military training? Hell, even basic self defense. For those that have none of that, are you learning?

I just want to know if anything's being done.

[Kallen looks like she wants to say something else, but refrains. Instead, she lets the feed run despite leaving the video to go train some more.]

King Cailan Theirin
02 September 2012 @ 08:45 pm
[It was something he would never admit, but Cailan didn't know most of the weapons that they were allowed to choose from. Something called a gun? Another one called a machine gun? Even the explanation of what they were was unsatisfactory, but there was a large group of weapons that he knew.

And finding his father's blade helped narrow the field down considerably. What he didn't know was what he was supposed to do now. They said they would send him on missions, but he wouldn't get to plan them. He couldn't go home, even though there was long awaited glory waiting back home, and his kingdom needed him.

Plus he had no idea what to do with this little book thing. What was he supposed to do, look at it? Read it, in some way, or communicate with others like he was told? This would all be exciting if he knew what was going on. Well. It was pretty exciting, anyway. Being sent to the bank, he was in full armor, tapping at the screen of the "book" and ignoring the stares of people walking by, most of whom were going on the other side of the street.]

Hello? This is King Cailan Theirin of Ferelden, I require information. [He keeps tapping at the screen.] I admit, I'm more used to books back home being less complex then this.

[He gives a roguish grin, something he isn’t even sure if anyone can see.]

Is someone there? There will be quite a bit of gold involved if anyone is able to help me understand this thing, I can assure you of that. I’m a king, after all, I’m sure I can afford a bit of help, even in... such a strange place as this!

[The video is dark at first and there’s only a faint outline of a silhouette before a hand reaches out to turn the lamp on.]

Forgot about that. So – can I go home now? Not that this place isn’t cool and all, but it’s pretty much just like home, but it isn’t actually home, and I have important things to do back at my actual home. I’m sure everyone does. Kind of rude to just yank me out of there, messed up my sense of direction and everything. Where even am I.

[He flops back on the bed, curling up in his coat, and drags the netbook along with him.]

I mean, they told me, but it didn’t really answer my questions. Honestly? This is stupid. I’d like to be back in my own dimension now where the things I do actually matter. I don’t live here. I’m not entitled to help these people do whatever they’re doing. Rebel? They’re pretty damn tight-lipped about it if you ask me.

Anyway. [He waves his hand dismissively.] Anyone out there?
