Okay, now that people have the hang of doing supply runs, question:

We're probably going to still be here through the end of November at least. Anyone up for making some kind of Thanksgiving-like celebration? People can give suggestions for their favorite kinds of foods from home, and if we set some aside from each supply run until then, we might have enough to have something nice for each other to eat and give thanks for. It's not really like the American tradition, but like... I don't know, I had fun with this last year with my friends, and I thought it might be nice? Something to look forward to!

We'd need people who can cook, or those who can set up tables, or do dishes, and clean up, and those on supply runs to see if they can handle bringing in a bit extra when they go out.

Anyone else feel up for this?

Thanksgiving? The American holiday?

I know very little about it except that it's a variation on a harvest festival and there's lore about it. Tell me, tell me about Thanksgiving, all you know, Collette.

Presumably the holiday is about giving thanks, though I don't really have much to give thanks for at this particular juncture. If I go on a supply run I will certainly get extra food?

I don't know what I could call my favorite food, though. I haven't really tested every food it is possible to eat. I enjoy Fuuto Ramen, though. Ramen in general is a food I enjoy. Noodles are something that is very homey. I would offer to cook but I am very easily distracted from such tasks and do not often successfully make food.

I think we can figure ramen out! There're enough people here to have someone know how to make it. The suggestion's enough, on your end!

Thanksgiving is also supposed to tie in wiht the pilgrims that went to the East coast on ships like the Mayflower, and how they almost died the first fall into winter because all their crops failed, and the natives bailed them out. I'mm not sure if turkeys were really involved then or not, but they're a big part of it now! You get time off from school and sometimes work and everything, for Thanksgiving!

As for picking up extra on a supply run, thank you so much! Every bit helps, doubly so!

[Thanksgiving, hm? They don't celebrate it in France, of course, but there's more than a few Americans who are overseas that get together around that time of the year. They even have a market open for them around then in Paris!]

I have culinary experience, so I'd be happy to help out with the cooking and I'll stick around to clean up afterwards too. Just give me a list of suggested dishes and I'll do what I can given the ingredients gathered - though my specialty is French cuisine.
