First things first - Initiative? Really? Come on, couldn'tcha be at least a little original? I mean I'm having a serious case of been there, done that. And for the record? Not really looking forward to doing it again. I've had the tour, I've seen the shinies - and I'll say again. Not interested. Opposite of interested. Me and freaky government strongholds go way back. We had a very hot and heavy relationship, but we're seeing other people now, and both of us are better for it. So, second thing? If you could just, you know - help a girl out and point me toward the nearest exit? That'd be real peachy. Failing that? I'm not your strong-arm. You can't control me. Don't even try.

[ It sounds like she's done, but then there's rustling, and she comes back. ]

Oh, neat um -- neat weapon thingy. By the way. Looks like it might be stolen tech from someone very unsavory. But you almost had me drooling. I'm watching you.

Yikes. That had to be rough. But, I mean -- how do you deal? I can barely handle the non-medical saving of lives sometimes. Stress, stress, and more stress.

[ She snorts. ] I don't heal instantly. Just... faster than usual.

[spongetastic]

It's hard work, but I love doing it. Even with all the stress, I couldn't imagine being anything else.

You're not alone in that. Just out of curiosity, could you heal from anything?

[defending]

Yeah, I get that. It's a thing. Destiny, blah blah... Thing.

[ What are you talking about, strange boy. She quirks a brow. ] Anything meaning...?

[spongetastic]

Destiny. Exactly.

[a casual shrug of his shoulder] Like, say you fell twenty stories. Could you recover from that?

[defending]

[ Wow, okay, that escalated quickly. Her brow furrows and she looks at her feet as she walks. ] Probably not. But knowing my history, I've survived a lot of things I shouldn't have, and somebody would find a way to bring me back from it.

[spongetastic]

[hey he had to ask. The other healers he know can do it] That must come with the whole "destiny" thing, too. Coming back.

[defending]

Or, y'know. CPR once and magical resurrection the next.

[spongetastic]

You sound like you would fit right in with my world. ... Unless you mean that "magical" part literally.

[defending]

I mean literally. My best friend is a witch.

[spongetastic]

Okay, that part isn't anything like my world. [he chuckles, pausing as they have come to the clinic]

Well, in case you have someone else injured, this is the place to go. I've been on the night shift, so you'll have a friendly face if you come in.

[defending]

So, what, you have tiny girls that can one-hand benchpress couches, but no magic? Sounds kinda lame. [ She's teasing, of course. She gives the clinic a once-over. ] I'm a nocturnal kinda girl. Maybe I'll just swing by with coffee occasionally. As a thank you for the tour.

[spongetastic]

I'd like that. It'll be a nice break from teaching my co-worker how to play paper football.

[defending]

Paper football requires teaching?

[spongetastic]

[he laughs] Believe it or not, there are some worlds that never heard of it.

But speaking of coffee, let me show you a good place to get some. This way. [he gestures for her to follow]

[defending]

I'll believe those worlds when I see them. Until then, I choose to remain skeptical.

[ O HAY COFFEE, cool, she's going to be so hyped up on caffeine by the end of this day... ]

Always need to know where good mochas live.

[spongetastic]

[smiling, he takes her there] I'm guessing those mochas will have very short lives now that you're here.

[defending]

Oh, extremely short. But very delicious. Their deaths will not be in vain. [ She grins over at him. ] So, Peter the EMT who's met healers that can heal from really long falls... What's your world like?

[spongetastic]

[not only met healers, but is in fact one himself. But he'll leave that piece of info for another time. If he mentions it at all]

A lot stranger since I learned about the super powers. There are people who are born with a genetic marker that gives them special abilities. Not just healing; there's flight, telepathy, telekinesis, controlling time, shape-shifting, dreaming the future... You name it and I've probably encountered it.

Everyone else that was from my world went back home. There's just me now. [it fits into his "maximum potential" thing]

[defending]

... Wow. Long list of stuff. The only person I know who can do all that is my best friend. Y'know, the witch one? And it's all Magicks. Not genetics.

[ Oh. That has to suck. She frowns. Lots. ] Yikes. It's bad enough being stuck here alone to begin with, but... I'm sorry. About your -- they were friends, right?

[spongetastic]

If she can do all that and keep in control, I admire her.

[he waves off the apology] It's okay. One was my niece, but I feel better knowing she's home where she belongs. The other two... It's better they aren't here, either. They weren't exactly people friendly.

[defending]

She couldn't always. [ SORE SPOT. OUCH, PETRELLI. ] She's lost control a few times. Almost destroyed the entire world, too.

[ Oh, huh. ] You're so not old enough to have nieces.

[ people friendly. uh. ] ... Not people friendly how?

[spongetastic]

... That sounds familiar. [and that's all he'll say on that subject]

My brother's twelve years older than me. He also has two boys.

They were both willing to murder back in my world. I was keeping a close eye on them here, but it's still good they didn't stay long.

[defending]

Familiar, huh? You'll have to tell me stories sometime. [ Because what is not being intrusive and nosy. ]

... Oh. Well. That... Explains it. How old is she? Your niece?

Good thing for them, they left before I got here. It's my job to stop that. I mean, if they're not just human... That's kinda my job.

[spongetastic]

Sixteen. [because what are timelines in this canon]

They were human. Incredibly powerful, but human.

[defending]

... But dangerous human. Not normal human. Could be considered supernatural.
