[ Dean's seen this code before-- years and years ago, but it's something there's no way he'd ever forget. No, it's hard to forget something that used to be such a big part of your everyday life, of when you were growing up and the role models in your life had such a drastically big part in shaping who you'd eventually grow up to be.

But it's been so long, so, so freaking long. If not for all the messes back home, then being stuck in Attollo had only made that stretch longer-- and Dean's not sure if he's suddenly just making this all up in his head, freaking out over a code someone else from any other kind of world might know just as well.

He switches on the video feed carefully, wiping off any white-faced shock as best as he can in favor of a cautious reply; ]

Keysmashing isn't gonna get you the answers you want. [ He should be saying this all haughty with the smirkiest smirk but just comes off as sort of...quiet. ]

[Dean. He doesn't know if he should be happy or devastated. He's still not sure he's buying any of this crap, still not sure of this is even real. If Dean got dragged down with him - there's gonna be hell to pay.

But if this is really true...if he's really alive and Dean's here alive as well...that means the deal wasn't broken. They might be in some messed up universe, but if it's a messed up universe that can keep them safe from hell's fury...

No he still doesn't like it. And he's gonna need a hell of a lot more than his son's face on some fancy piece of technology to get him to divulge himself on the network.]

[ He hesitates visibly because this is such a fragile moment, even if he's not sure if this person behind the text could really be one John Winchester. But after a beat he nods, voice more sure than before. ]

Yeah -- yeah, no one is gonna hack this, or anything. Don't worry. [ He wants to just ask but the idea of being wrong would be such a letdown. So for now he just stares expectantly. ]

[For a long moment he keeps radio silence. If this isn't Dean, revealing himself to him would be suicidal. But after what he's been through, he can't stay away. He can't figure anything out through this network anyway, he has to see Dean in person to test him, and the son he raised wouldn't agree to meet him because of a text, not when he should be dead and gone.

So after a few minutes he finally switches to video.]

Is there somewhere secure for us to meet at?

[ The radio silence weighs on him more heavily than anything else in a long, long time. He doesn't expect the video reply-- honestly expects John's face to greet him even less. But boy, if that doesn't leave him a silent mess.

How the hell is he supposed to deal with this. That's-- his dad and fuck, how many years has it been since he's seen him like this, like how he honestly remembers him instead of the younger version who didn't even know him? Too long. ]

I -- yeah, yeah-- anywhere you want. [ ; ~ ; ] Dad- [ Because he has to say it, has to test that word out. ]

[He looks different; older than he remembers him. It could be a trick of his memory, or it could be that a lot happened on earth while he was in hell.

The sound of that word is music to his ears, and it's difficult to keep himself composed. He draws in a shaky breath, his lips curling up ever so slightly, his eyes glistening just the slightest bit.]

Sure do. Been here for some two months now. [ It's given him more than enough time to poke his nose around everywhere. And yeah, he realizes having been here for two months and still having no exit is kind've a poor performance sticker on his forehead. ]

I have answers! But maybe not the ones you're looking for. If anyone knows specifics about the machine or whatever that brought us here, I haven't heard about it, not in detail. The weapons are pretty neat, like the one they asked you to choose when you got here? They get stronger as you get stronger, which to me honestly makes a lot more sense than having to alchemize new weapons all the time, right? Anyway, you can use regular weapons too, if that's what you're worried about.

[ She stops to take a deep breath, then goes on. ]

I don't know how many civilians there are here, but I would guess that there are about a hundred imports at any one time! It changes from week to week though. Sometimes people go home, but I don't know if there's any pattern to who or why or how.
