I'm curious. How many of us here are below the age of 20? Of those, who have served officially or unofficially during war or fighting in some capacity?

I've had some success in the field.

I planned a mission that was waylaid by the zombie incident. Most of my focus is on having as complete an understanding as possible on this war, since it is being fought very differently from mine.

I don't understand why it is that people seem to insist on classifying those things as zombies. Beyond being reanimated dead, they honestly didn't have much in common.

[blondtactician]

I apologize for my lack of knowledge. I did not know there was more than one kind of reanimated dead.

[Armin thinks again of Eren, coming out of the titan's neck, though he's not quite sure why. When he tried to tell Eren about the zombies, 'like titans' was the first thing he said, because they were barely alive, yet so hard to kill. Ugh.]

The more proper short and sweet term would be "undead". It covers things once alive which died, but are behaving as though alive even though they are not actually alive. There are a few types, but even so it would take a long time to explain. As it is, the things that were on the moon base were a type I'm unfamiliar with. I can't say that I've ever seen something like an undead plant before.

It follows that it would be alien to us, if it indeed originated outside Earth.

It could be equally as unfamiliar to us if it originated from a different time or location on Earth than we are familiar with. For all I know, the original might have been created in the lab of a mad scientist. Unfortunately, it's just a matter of blindly grabbing at straws at this point.

I suppose it's better to just be aware of the possibility that not all of them were wiped out, despite the base itself being cleared of active hostiles.

Of course. We can't assume to know how the infection, or whatever it was, will behave. Just because we can't survive in the vacuum of space doesn't mean it can't.

That's what concerns me. The undead I am familiar with easily managed outside the airlocks. Fire had its own downside, but I would have liked it more if they had been burned inside the airlocks rather than just ejected out. The air inside would have been used up either way, wouldn't it?

Perhaps, but the station technology may have also been damaged if more fire was used. At least that is how I understand the situation.

I suppose it's a tricky situation no matter how you look at it. But what's done is done. Have you gone back to planning missions yet?

[blondtactician]

With the arrival of some of my comrades, my current focus has been getting them up to speed.

Is that so? Well, don't let me keep you from them.
