I've noticed the trend towards asking our fellow transports philosophical questions on this network. While I can't say I particularly see the appeal, there is something about which I am curious of others' opinions.

Namely - how would you define a home?

If it's not something you'd wish to talk about, there's no point in answering; similarly, I don't mind answering, myself, for the curious - it's only polite when asking, after all.

( before anyone bothers with either of those points. homes aren't something he's thought about in years, really, fairly certain of the fact that he doesn't have one anymore; but after eight months or more in exsilium...he's starting to, a little bit. )

Mm, I think I'd say it's wherever the people you love are.

No, no, no. You've gotta set it to anonymous before you start asking us the meaning of life.

A home is where one can relax after a long day of work and rest.

My home is where my friends are. Where there's people who I can trust to help me when I need them. I don't think it's a place, really.

That's actually kind of a good question. I'd say it's where friends and family are, but to be honest I probably have more friends here than I do at home.

I really do miss my other bed, though. Maybe that's where home is for me, but I dunno.

A home is...

[Cedric thinks of his two past homes and sighs.]

It's where you feel safe and comfortable going to sleep every night.

... for me at least, home is the place I always want to go back to. I'm comfortable and happy there, and all the things I love are there too. I would defend my home with my life.

Wherever your loot goes, mate. [Chloe can't keep a straight face when she says it, either. Joking aside, though:]

Dunno, never really had one. And I don't mean that in the self-pitying sense, just that I've never found one spot I liked more than anywhere else I'd been. [France being the exception...but then living there might take off some of the charm.]

Big world out there, darling. Plenty of places to settle down in and call your own. Question is, what's got you wanting to?

Or the entire earth, I guess.

Ignoring the literal definition, a home is said to where your family is. Where you feel safe.

Like most such concepts, it is somewhat illusory in nature, impermanent. It can be disrupted or ended at any time. As the saying goes, "you can't go home again."

[Saori was pouring some tea for herself when she hears the question. She sits down, staring into her cup for a moment.]

It's more than just a singular physical place. It's any place where you'll stake your life to protect because you'll always feel safe there and you want to protect the friends you've made there. It can also be a place to grow and learn more about yourself.

They say it's where the heart is. A shame, I suppose, that many homes can disappear or be destroyed.

[When you lose people you love, does your home die with them? She doesn't know.]

It's something you can protect and cherish, something intangible and real all at once. It can be an object or a person or a feeling, I think. It's important and safe for you.

What brought this on. Are you feeling homesick or are you wondering if this place may start to become something like a home away from home.

A place you can find your peace and happiness I guess. My mother also made me a big believer of a saying "Home is where the heart is."

[ Because of the war, Kira couldn't cunt how many times they had to move. ]

Sorry ... but I'm curious. Usually, you don't need to ask this question ... but you did. Do you mind if I ask why?
