I've noticed the trend towards asking our fellow transports philosophical questions on this network. While I can't say I particularly see the appeal, there is something about which I am curious of others' opinions.

Namely - how would you define a home?

If it's not something you'd wish to talk about, there's no point in answering; similarly, I don't mind answering, myself, for the curious - it's only polite when asking, after all.

( before anyone bothers with either of those points. homes aren't something he's thought about in years, really, fairly certain of the fact that he doesn't have one anymore; but after eight months or more in exsilium...he's starting to, a little bit. )

I think it's a better way to think of it than as a house or location.

I agree. A house, once it's been vacated, is little more than a piece of architecture.

Most definitely. Trying to find oneself in the wilderness will only find oneself with things like insect bites and trouble.

Well trouble is something I know a lot about, so I won't try to convince you otherwise.

Where family is, and friends. A safe place.

That's a good answer too. Family's so important.

I was, yes.

Oh. I live with my uncle. Or, I did, before I came here. And before that, I was with my gramma. I moved around a lot, so no place ever really felt like home until recently.

It's nice that you have extended family you're able to rely on.

Yeah, it has been. Though we don't always see eye to eye.

Those can be the most rewarding relationships, sometimes.

How do you mean?

A person who challenges your views is more likely to stimulate growth and introduce you to new ways of thinking than one who simply agrees with you.
