exsilium | ☢ 1 [Video/Open to Action]

[The feed clicks on, and the video shows a rather vexed young woman walking along the sidewalk or what there is of one. Her brows are drawn together, and her blue eyes are narrowed, displaying both suspicion and frustration at her surroundings. Finally, she grumbles and stops walking, looking directly at the screen.]

I don't know what sort of sick change this is, but I'm not laughing. What the hell is the Initiative, and why do I need a weapon now? There damn well better be some decent answers. No one's been very eager to explain much.

[She scowls up at the building behind her.]

New home, huh? We'll see. [Kallen sighs and directs her attention to the feed once more.]

It's doubtful anyone's been happy about arriving here, so it's a pretty safe bet there's no known way back yet, huh? That figures.

[Instead of going straight inside, the redhead simply sits against the wall of the building, still glaring at anything that meets her gaze.]

Just perfect.

No idea. I'm fresh off the transporter.

You haven't happened to hear about Action Scientists have you?

Uh, hi. Name's Kallen. [She looks at him quizzically and shakes her head.]

Nope.

That's okay, I didn't expect this to be that easy.

You wouldn't happen to specialize in quantum science or worm holes, would you?

Not in the slightest.

[She bites back the urge to mention that it's actually two things and just nods instead.]

[What is he going to do with all these people too polite to correct him?]

Not in the slightest. Also, I don't eat. It's just an excuse to have company while I explore.

I get enough stares, I don't need to be caught talking to myself around town.

Gotcha. Well, let's explore, and if we find someplace, we can stop. Sound good?

[He picks a direction into the city and goes. Any direction is a good one at this point.]

So, I've been tyring to think of any rhyme or reason to who they've pulled here. Any ideas why they snagged you?

I'm still in the dark as to why they've snagged any of us.

I got the gist of it. War, rebellion, we've been picked to help out the losing side.

I may be a war vet, but this place is far beyond the level of tech I am used to.

[Says the talking robot.]

I don't know who thought this was a good idea.

[Kallen snorts at that.]

If they want to start a rebellion and actually win, they'll need a lot more than a group of ragtag travelers and high tech machines. They need their fighters to believe in the cause, and want to put their lives on the line for it. It's not something anyone should go into lightly.

[She speaks with conviction, almost like she knows what she's talking about.]

[He notices.]

So, I wonder what their real motive is.

[Too much to figure out at once.]

I still wonder what they did to our equipment, too. I've spent too much time around dangerous science to not be suspcious of AI weapons.

What weapon did you end up picking?

If that is their real motive, they must be more desperate than we realize.

[She looks at him as they walk along, clearly curious about stuff, but she doesn't ask. In response to his question, she holds up a USB looking thing that's attached to a cord around her neck.]

I told them if I was supposed to have a weapon, I wanted the one I had back home. The lady just nodded and sent me on my way. Not sure what that meant at all.

What sort of weapon did you have back home?

[He's thinking hacker, not yet realizing he is looking at a key.]

It was a Knightmare Frame, basically a giant robot I piloted.

Giant robot?

Don't tell me those things got cost efficient.

They're the main weapons used by the armies around the world. My world, anyway.

Hopefully, my world won't manage to make that possible. My job is hard enough as is without governing bodies mass producing things like that.

Also, I'm tired of getting punched by people in robot armor.

I won't ask.

So, you think this Knightmare frame is somewhere around here?

Hell if I know. It'd be pretty hard to hide, though.
