[The video feed turns on the show the face of a rather serious-looking young man wearing a very fancy suit... a very fancy suit that looks although it's been slept in for the past two days.

He's very slowly coming to terms with the fact that this isn't all some sort of absurd dream, and has decided that perhaps it's time to introduce himself. And he's prepared.]

Good morning.

To those of you who are listening to this message, my name is Miles Edgeworth and I am a prosecuting attorney. There is still much that I do not know about this world, and I would welcome all information anyone would care to provide, or directions to a place where I might uncover more about this place for myself.

After all, if am forced to remain here, then I expect to be informed of all aspects of my current situation in its entirety, from as many different sources as possible. I do not presume to speak for all of you, but I, for one, do not care to work for a cause that resorts to such underhanded dealings such as abduction and much worse to achieve its goals.

[Underhanded, but not to mention preposterous. These sort of happenings should be confined to science fiction novels where they could remain. Unread. But he continues nonetheless.]

You, as a 'transport' who has also arrived under circumstances similar to myself, are the ones most likely to understand and share this belief of mine. I can only hope that you will be willing to assist me in this matter.

I said nothing of the sort!

Make sure it's cleaner by the time I get there.

It will be perfectly clean. [ And it always was, Franziska. ]

[ It's precisely 3 in the afternoon. Knock knock, Miles. ]

[ Edgeworth had, of course, been expecting Franziska to arrive precisely on time, so when three o'clock comes around he is already standing by the lounge room door. Thus, he is able to open before Franziska has the chance to knock again.

While he had known what to expect, had even had some time to get used to the idea, the woman who's standing in his doorway is so different yet so similar to the young girl he remembers from all of three days ago that he's momentarily taken aback and speechless.

In fact, he even finds himself taking a literal step backwards, thus allowing this alternate reality Franziska von Karma to enter the apartment. Furtively, he looks her up and down, takes in the changes (height and whip the most obvious), and attempts to reconcile them with the image of her he still has in his head. Considering everything that had happened in these past few days, this surely was't that ridiculous, but... his mentor's daughter, this girl who he had come to regard as something of a little sister, has, for all intents and purposes, become a woman overnight. ]

Well. You've certainly grown.

[ Drat, he'd said that aloud, hadn't he? Knowing that back in reality, he should be bracing himself for a lash of the riding crop, he casts another look at that whip and clears his throat. ]

I mean. Good afternoon, Franziska.

[ Meanwhile, Franziska makes no secret of her scrutiny. His hair has always been in a strange shade between mouse brown and rat gray, but in her present his hair was starting to lean more on the gray side. She remembers what used to be his favorite vest, styled in a manner that crossed the line between regal and pompous. He reacted to her presence in the same manner she expected him (from the past) to react.

So while he had the luxury of doubting her credibility as Franziska von Karma (which would be foolishly disappointing of him), she had no reason to doubt that she was facing Miles Edgeworth from her past.

She stares at him, just to be sure. Or just in case he would suddenly confess to all of this being a prank. Which was silly, of course. In her opinion, Miles Edgeworth doesn't have enough sense of humor to make a joke, much less play a prank. ]

And you're supposed to be 26 years old. Why are you young again?

[ He raises an eyebrow and holds Franziska's gaze. Surely they've already gone through this, as ludicrous as the chain of events actually was. ]

There's no 'again'. I've already told you what happened.

And it's foolish of you to think that I'd believe you without having examined the real thing... if you are the real thing.

[ She pauses- considering before she whips him hard. ]

[ He's not given enough time or warning to duck, and as he flinches, the lash of the whip hits him squarely in the chest. It hurts, and it seemed that it had been too much to hope that Franziska had grown out of her hitting people stage by this age. ]

What was that for?!

[ Don't deprive her of what little sources of happiness she has, geez. ]

It was a test. Should we conduct another one?

That's not necessary. If we can't discuss this words, then won't talk about it at all.

[ And that's final. ]

[ There was once a time when that could have stopped her. That time is over... maybe.

One more lash! ]

[ OW. He warned you, Franziska. ] That's it. [ Considering she never really did make it inside, it's easy enough to start to close the door... not that he's expecting that will stop her, but he promised and must be firm, especially considering the fact that she's even more headstrong than he remembered. ]

[ She pushes her way in, casually slipping the keys he left on the door knob inside her glove. It took some effort - a lot of effort if she factored in how she was made to accept how even at this age he was already somewhat stronger than she was - for her to push through but when she succeeded, she sat down on his couch with her hands on her lap like as if she were a perfect house guest and he had just invited her in. ]

What's it, Miles Edgeworth?

[ He's unsurprised when Franziska makes her way through regardless. Although he possesses more than enough strength to push back against the door to bar her entry, such an action would be immature and he would not stoop to her level. It was still strange yet comforting how little had changed, despite the theoretical years. Once she's seated he closes the door - not without a brief quizzical look at the handle - and makes his way to sit across from Franziska. He places his hands upon his knees and looks at her. For a brief, sentimental foolish moment, Miles Edgeworth has to actively fight against the urge to smile. ]

Oh, do you feel like talking now?

[ His eyes briefly flicker to the whip before he meets her gaze again. He wouldn't show any apprehension, even though that...thing certainly stung more than the crop he remembered. ]

I feel... like having a drink. Aren't you going to offer me something? You're a horrible host, Miles Edgeworth.

Unfortunately, as I was not expecting to be drafted into an interdimnesional war, I've not yet had the time to replenish my tea cabinet. I am, however, going to have a glass of water. Would you like one?

[ He starts to move in the direction of the sink, then pauses. ]

By the way, you forgot the special word.

[ The words come out quite easily, a typical admonishment of Edgeworth's in response to Franziska's forthright manner. Yet it's not the same - this woman is almost as old as he himself is, surely she shouldn't require reprimand in order to remember her manners.

This is really happening, he realizes with some sense of unease, forcing himself forward to collect their glasses and pour the water. ]

[ She smiles despite herself. If she were the same age he remembers her to be, she would be intimidated by now. But she eventually found out that she could make people give in faster with force than with pleading. Now she found his manner slightly endearing. ]

Now.

[ Especially since he was getting them water regardless. ]

Please and thank you.

[ Well, at least Franziska still at least possessed manners, even if she did not choose to volunteer utilize them. He watches her sitting easy as he brings their water over, setting Franziska's glass down in front of her before taking his seat opposite her again. ]

You know, I didn't ask earlier -- how long have you been here for?

[ A glass of water that she will completely ignore. ]

A month.

[ lmao I think. ]

[ Wow, after he went to all that effort, too! ]

... So you've managed to settle in well, then?

I'm used to travelling at short notice.

[ A boast to escape ever giving a proper answer to that question which is "No and your presence made it worse" ]

[ He takes a sip of his water, looking slightly displeased. ]

This is still further than even you have ever travelled. That being said... I'm glad to hear that.
