video | forward dated to the network's return after the newbie surge!

[ He looks tired and slightly less chipper than usual, but that's basically the theme of the week, so no surprises there. Right to business, then! ]

Adrasteius is gone, which means I'll be taking over the Transport Clinic — which I guess can just be shortened to the Clinic, now. [ sigh. :c ] We've got people organizing supply runs, which is great, but we're always open to have a few more volunteered hands around. No training or previous experience required, promise, just let me know if you're interested.

Anyway, I hope everyone caught AI's announcement, about the revival technology getting left behind. Consider this a friendly reminder to try to avoid dying, alright? If there are any accidents, on missions or otherwise, I have a spell to resurrect the recently dead. Not that that means you should start getting reckless, because my supplies for it are limited. If anyone else has a similar ability, now would be a really, really good time to speak up about it.

[ He pauses here, starts to add a smile, and... rubs his hands over his face instead. He mumbles something that sort of sounds like don't even have a medical wing yet, and ends the feed. ]

Why?

I'm sure someone desperate to go on living would cherish it more.

Even if I can't understand why, I didn't think you to be so selfish.

[ because implicit insults is totally the way to go, right ]

You won't allow me to decide my own fate?

I understand exactly what it means. Better than most.

If a person can't be selfish about their own life, or their own existence, what point is there to free will?

[ ... :s
what is it with people here trusting her, or having faith in her? she acts the way she does so they won't.
she doesn't have the heart to be a hero anymore.

Even if the destruction is erased, they won't be the same people. If they go back too far, then the tapestry changes.

You understand that, don't you? Some of them may bear the same names, or similar faces, but they won't have the same lives, or hearts. We can't simply rip open the gates of hell and pull them out again.

It will never be the same as it was.

Not hardly. After all, what purpose does your motivation serve, if it has no connection to reality?

[ attached is a photo image of a drawing--a rough outline of the base, with a circle on their room in the east wing, with a line leading through hallways to the observatory. the scale isn't exact, what labels can be seen aren't written in English, and there are deep X's at the points still blocked off from access.

how helpful.

[ Additional patience and walking will not be necessary; Ruka's taken station at one of the monitors, sitting on the floor beneath it. On the ground before her is her network tablet, the screen powered down to darkness, while braced on her folded knees is a sketchbook. Her monitor shows Earth as seen from the base, though not as it would be seen now from some home-facing window. The earth of today is a waxing crescent, still a short distance from its first quarter—but the earth of the monitor is a full sphere, brightly lit by the sun.

Regardless of his level of stealth, be in abundant or completely absent, she's far too focused on studying that weeks-old image of Earth to pay him any mind.
