Video | BACKDATED to early the 11th

[It's early Wednesday morning when a new video message turns up on the network. The nun seems to have none of her usual energy and the bags under her eyes are fairly pronounced. Flynn and Fluffy have likely put up with her pacing almost incessantly since dinner time last night, and even now she fidgets in her seat, fingers playing with an ornamental looking watch hanging at her neck.]

Has anyone seen Chrono? Short, grumpy, purple hair. He's usually with me.

... He might have been in some kind of fight, so I'll take anything. Or anyone to help me look.

[It's okay, she hovers at the threshold, like it's forbidden territory (because it is.)]

Er... try the bottom shelf in the cold box?

[she gives her a strange look (who keeps vegetables in that box?) but checks there, pulling out a vegetable or two and placing them on the counter.

She finds a knife next, and . . . okay so maybe Rosette is banned from being in here. Well, it wasn't as if she wasn't used to breaking rules. She points the knife at her]

Get in here and make yourself useful. You can at least use one of these without setting anything on fire, yes?

Of course I can! I've done line cooking before.

[Though due to her unfortunate abilities in the kitchen, this WAS usually her job. She takes the knife by the handle and pulls the chopping board over a relatively level part of the counter.]

[hyanaimne]

[she rolls her eyes, but decides against a snappy retort] Thin slices, then.

[she's had no luck in finding any decent spices to cook with (not that she knew much about that in the first place, but Rosette didn't need to know that), but after some experimenting, she'd learn that salt and pepper would do enough of a decent job. She turns the burner on under the pan, adds enough of both that should cover cooking a meal for two, then adds some water. It starts to simmer, slowly]

[She looks over curiously...]

What kind of meat do you use with that? We don't really have a lot right now.

[hyanaimne]

[Tempest glances over, just barely resisting a face]

None. Though I can add some if you would like . . . ?

[soul_sister]

... [It is a rare moment of consideration, as she catches that expression. ENJOY IT WHILE IT LASTS.]

... We should be saving it for Fluffy anyway.

[hyanaimne]

. . . Fluffy?

[soul_sister]

Our lion!

[hyanaimne]

What is a lion?

[soul_sister]

A huge cat with a lot of hair around his head.

[hyanaimne]

Ah . . . a pet, then?

[soul_sister]

[She shakes her head, picking up the next veggie to chop.]

He's our roommate.

[hyanaimne]

. . . I see.

[maybe it was like the dragon she met who could speak]

[soul_sister]

[In the mean time, she finishes the task set in front of her. Rosette proffers her cutting board towards Tempest.]

Where do you want these?

[hyanaimne]

[she takes the cutting board, then carefully dumps the cut vegetables into the pan]

[She's fishing around for the next thing to do when tinny, distant and wholly incomprehensible language comes from her belt.]

Did you hear that?

[hyanaimne]

[Tempest pauses and tilts her head to listen, then glances at Rosette]

Is it your device?

[soul_sister]

AH!

[She fishes it out of her belt pouch with a certain amount of hope, the name she uses to answer it, a simple, and predictable one.



Whoever was on the line, was not the one she was hoping for, by how still, and quiet she goes.]

[hyanaimne]

[damn. It only sets off her own worrying again, after the cooking had been doing a somewhat decent job of distracting her.

She steps to the side, though, having started stirring the vegetables, and gestures to it, making sure she has Rosette's attention]

Take over while I find some other things to add.

[soul_sister]

Mm! Let me get that....


[She shuffles the tablet awkwardly to an ear a moment, before nearly dropping it in the pan... finally she settles for putting it on the counter. Her addressing the 'table dweller' is almost absent as she focuses on the meal in progress.]

[hyanaimne]

[she isn't one to eavesdrop, really. She busies herself to go through the cabinets, seeing if there are any other spices, something else she can add so it isn't bland. But she finds herself quieting her movements so she can strain her hearing to listen anyway]

[soul_sister]

[It does, actually, reveal that instead of eating, or resting as she should have been, she went out into the Outlands with others. OOPS.]

[hyanaimne]

[Not. Surprised. At all]

[soul_sister]

[She doesn't have time to be cowed, instead, the whatever's said leads to something of an outraged outburst... and frustrated tears brimming in her eyes.

She drops the stirring spoon into the pan to angrily rub them out of her eyes with her palm.]
