text; where do we keep the lost and found around this place anyway? (forward dated to late 7/13)
Quick question, I know people are busy and there's shady stuff going down, but:
Is anyone really good at finding missing things? Or people? I'm losing a little of my mind over here, but that's not what I need found!
( With how Martin's still MIA she sort of suspects... not. )

[Annnd he goes ahead and toggles this onto private.]
You meant on this as in in public, right?

( They're also not the ones she really doesn't care to have hearing about things. )
There're two people, to be honest. Martin Darkov, and Caesar Silverberg. Most the people when they go missing aren't missing missing? I don't know if they're the only ones, but they're who I know who are on network but not responding, or like with Martin, it's been... it's been over a month.

Are you thinking they might have been sent back home or something? I could probably find out whether or not they're still in the city. I can technically track DNA, but I try not to do it too much. Privacy and all that.
no subject
Not back home, but Sollux is double checking for me. I know what that looks like most the time? I'm used to it, really, it's been about a year since I arrived. The DNA tracking sounds really useful! You don't need a recent sample or anything, do you? Just a hair, or whatever?
( That might be harder to get for Martin than Caesar, but it's a start, and it's interesting to know.
Especially since Blue Beetle's one of the first people she's interfaced with outside of Adam that has dealt with or deals with anything on a genetic level. )

[He goes ahead and just starts typing what the Scarab recites to him:]
Anything with saliva on it like toothpicks or cigarettes, any hats that might have hair or dandruff, used tissues or cond
ew
[Scarab, no.]
Let's try for hair.

( Meanwhile, that list managed to provoke a small snort of amusement from her. Well, the more she knew...! )
Give me a bit and I'll what you need.
no subject
[Okay, technically he could just track her to wherever she is... but that's seriously creepy.]
no subject
( Glad that he asked, considering he probably doesn't need to. Just feels nice pretending to have some control over things going on at the moment. )

[He approaches the table with a wave, and even without hearing the drum of her fingers on the table, he knows that she must be anxious.]
no subject
( Her reaction is a beat late, but no less genuine. She pulls her hands down into her lap. )
I've got the hair here.
( She leans closer to the table, picking it up carefully between two nails. ) I don't know if you needed more than one, but I'm gonna say I feel a little weird as it is hair hunting, so if I need to do this again, I'm just starting to keep everyone on hair file.
( She laughs; it's a light sound, not quite matching the worry around her eyes. She looks -- tired, is probably the word. Collette might be home from the hospital the last few weeks, but when she's not giving off her usual exuberance, she looks as tired as she can get. The circles under her eyes have yet to properly fade. Backlit by the overhead light, they look deeper than they are. )
Thanks for this, by the way. Lavi's telling me I'm being kind of silly, and I guess I am. My bad?
( She seems more sheepish, fixedly looking at the hair held between her nails. )

One should be fine, [he says, plucking it from her hand and resting it in the palm of his left hand. He lets the Scarab get a good reading on it and grasps her shoulder with his right hand.]
Hey, no sweat. I'd worry too. But as long as he's still in Exsilium and doesn't have any powers that'll interfere with my tech, I can find him.
no subject
( Distraction, thy name is interested in anyone with some sort of ability to read on genetics. Blue Beetle could be one scary dude, in the right sort of wrong circumstances.
Not that she actually thinks this. Collette is more thinking, "That's so cool!" )

[Which is a nice way of saying that Jaime can track down anyone he's ever met, which is among his creepier talents - it's certainly up there with being able to tell people how long they have before they get diabetes or whether or not they're pregnant.
He seriously has no idea what the Reach would have wanted to do with that information. After the Scarab lets him know that he's got a good reading on it, he lifts both of his hands up in the air and a light blue hologram shines through is flat fingertips. It's a map of Exsilium, placed along a grid. If all goes well, then another dot should be showing them Collette's missing person any time now...]
no subject
( The map shows no matching dot. Caesar had been so kind to skip off on mission without letting anyone know -- but it meant he wasn't currently in Exsilium. Jaime's map was delightful for its blue presence.
And its lack of anyone to be found. )
What's it supposed to show on there?
no subject
[Or when he's worried and needs to check up on someone, but he won't mention that now.]
There should be a dot showing up right now. I don't know where he is, but he's not in Exsilium.
no subject
( Because ridiculous as it sounds, if Beetle does, then Collette feels much better about this. )
no subject
[He turns off the map and lets his arms rest freely at his sides again.]
I can keep the scan running in the background, say... on the hour? When he comes back, I'll know. Which means you will too.
no subject
That's...
Really annoying that he hadn't said anything before disappearing, sure, but good! )
Thank you, BB.
( She really smiles, for all it doesn't change that she's tired. It does make her look better overall. )
Hey... want any cake? It looks horrible, but it's edible! It's the first time I've ever tried.
... Maybe the last, too.
no subject
[He says it with a smile, though technically this isn't in whatever job description superheroes have. Still, he's fond enough of Collette by this point for her to count as a friend, and friends do friends favours. Simple as that. He leans over to look at the cake, and--]
Consumption not advised.
[He's... pretty sure the Scarab's joking, though it can be hard to tell with its particular flat delivery of absolutely everything.] I dunno, [he says, a mite teasingly,] edible doesn't sound too promising.
no subject
Hey, originally it was three layers! I taste tested. It's totally okay. Besides, I think Bertie would have leapt right in if he saw me messing up in a big way. No egg shells, no weird lumps, just um... really weird overall shape!
no subject
[It's a chance to stick around, anyway, make sure she'll be okay. She really doesn't look too hot.]
So, this Bertie guy... he's your roommate? He keeping an eye out for you? You're still looking a little sick.
no subject
( Unapologetic about it, and pleased, actually -- she darn well can cook at all, and that is amazing! For his concern, she waves it off iwth a hand, handing him over the small plate that was in front of her. )
Yeah, yeah, I'm fine, trust me. I just look bad for longer than most people. Which is totally the way to flatter a girl, you know.
( She grins and winks, seemingly more at ease. )
no subject
It has occurred to him that he is a very, very lucky guy.
It's a little weird eating in the bugsuit, but he takes a bite out of the slice anyway.] Hey, it's not bad!
