01 [video]
[This is his first time addressing people in this fashion. While he’s used to presenting in front of groups at small info swaps in Sybak, this is a whole new experience. While there’s a smile on his face, he’s a little nervous. ]
This isn’t what I had in mind when I first set out to do field research. It’s quite interesting, in any case.
[A pause. He’s had time to settle in, albeit a short amount of time, and has a general idea of what’s been going on. Hearing about the recent bombs was especially unsettling, which is why he’s outside the living quarters just looking at his surroundings. He’s eager to help out in this new place, even if he's not sure where to start. The people here had been through a lot already. It was apparent even from a casual glance at the last posts.]
For the time being, I’d like to offer my services to help reconstruction efforts in any way I can. I’ve only just arrived, but I hope I can be of some use.
[His expertise is research over anything else so while he looks useless, he can at least put a band-aid on someone. Or give them a hug. Or hold a nail while someone whacks it with a hammer. Before he ends the chat, he appears to remember something and quickly asks: ]
Are the words Tethe’Alla or Sylvarant familiar to anyone here? If it’s not any trouble, I’d like to talk to you.

[Well that's the first he's heard of that- just what is going on in his world? He nearly asks but- he stops himself with the reminder that he was dead. What happened in Tethe'alla was no longer his concern. Learning about the future seemed to only make things worse for him here]
...You might be in a time ahead of mine. There's been no climate changes that I know of and I only heard about Sylvarant when I came here.
[A lie, but whatever it makes things easier]
Voice
[Then he offers a quiet, light hearted laugh.]
I was about to say that it must have been surprising for you to learn about a world so close to our own, but since you were already here I imagine it wasn't too shocking at that point.
[Aster isn't about to admit that he hoped Kaneis was from the future. It could have been an eye opening moment to see either the fruits of their labor or fix avoidable mistakes. While Aster knew the main focus of his life would be this world for quite some time, he still can't take his mind off the seconds before he got here. Their world was in trouble, even without the meddling that came from this world. If only he could get a message to Richter somehow.
Annnnd it occurs to him that he spent a little too much time thinking. Maybe he shouldn't randomly zone out during a phone call. That'd be nice.]
I apologize. I lost myself for a moment.
How long has it been since your arrival?
Voice
[To say the least. But wow, did that guy really zone out on him? ...Does he do that when he gets lost in his own exposition? Weird.]
It's no problem, I've been here about oh...seven months?
Voice
[Think of it as a skit that freezes severely during a gameplay. The only choice is to wait it out or lose your save. HE OVERTHINKS OKAY.]
Have you had a chance to visit the library?
[He's gonna head there soon himself, but it's like he's about to visit a theme park. It's important to know where all the best rides are.]
Voice
The library. Uh, I visit it sometimes when I'm bored...it's pretty massive.
Voice
Is it divided by worlds? Or do they have their own system?
[He's a little excited.]
I wonder if they have papers published by scholars from here.
Voice
[Oh wow seriously excited there]
Maybe! I don't see why they wouldn't write theories about their own world.
Voice
[But first he's got to find someway to help the people here and then check out whoever Emil is. Maybe Kaneis knows something? It seems quite a few people know him.]
Are you familiar with someone named Emil?
Voice
[Aw shit. Fortunately by now, he got that message from Emil. And he's very okay with lying morality wise so here we go]
I don't think so- why?
Voice
[Since Aster's liedar only works on specific redheads, he doesn't think twice about the response.]
I'd like to meet him.
Voice
How come? Is he someone else from Tethe'alla or something?
Voice
Voice
That's pretty weird.
Voice
[By the sound of his voice, it's obvious Aster is becoming less amused and more concerned by it.]
If you ever meet him, would you let me know?
Voice
[Yeah, he's picking up that concern]
But really, I wouldn't worry too much about it. I get mixed up for this guy named Asch a lot and the only thing we got in common is we both have long red hair.
Voice
[At least he'll have someone looking out for this kid now. Maybe he can ask people who mistook him for Emil next. Someone's bound to have more information. Either way, he can tell an attempt to cheer him up and his voice lightens.]
You should be glad Richter isn't here.
[HE'S REALLY NOT THOUGH. Man if only Richter were here too. Aster's both grateful he's spared this and bummed that he lost his partner of many years.]
He has long red hair too. I imagine he'd be added to that list of people you're mistaken for.
Voice
[ESPECIALLY BECAUSE I"M LYING T YOU. ]
Heh, Richter huh? Well, that is good for one less mix up to happen. Is he a friend of yours?
Voice
He's my best friend. We teamed up in Sybak when we were young and have been working together ever since.

[It takes him a moment. It's really been a long, long time.]
7 years now.
Voice
[Holy crap. He was considered a prodigy and he still didn't go until he was well into his teens. He can't even imagine going there before then-]
What, are you a half-elf or something? I've heard horror stories they snatch up kids they think are smart.
Voice
[He won't claim to be ignorant of Sybak's shady measures at times, but it's his home. When he thinks back to home, he sees smiling faces of professors and hot meals from the cafeteria. Not of his parents and their home.]
I've never seen it happen myself. I hope that's not occurring.
[But it's not like he's denying it. He never asked Richter how he came to be at Sybak, or any of the half elves for that matter. There's really no good way to ask 'hey do you have those notes and also were you baby snatched?']
Voice
[Huh. He does notice the lack of denial, so that's something at least. He could confirm it himself, buuut well he might start questioning why Zelos knows that much about the ongoing of Sybak, or half-elves for that matter.]
[Plus you know, let's not make the kid feel too horrible about their home]
Well like I said, they were just stories I heard. For all I know they were saying that just to spook people, so don't sweat it.
