video kaleidoscope style
[The video feed is almost painful to look at. It's fragmented, and disorienting. Someone hasn't fixed the lens they cracked a while back, apparently.
But at least the video is short? For once, Yosuke's not chatty. He gets right to the point.]
I'm in ten-oh-five. My name is Yosuke. I...can a doctor come here? The clinic is far. I can pay.
[And then for good measure:]
Please?
[The kid isn't bleeding, and aside from being damp and dirty -very dirty, he must have just come back from a hike- doesn't appear to be in bad shape. But he does sound sincere about the request.]
(Ooc note! He's back from his hike tonight guys, and if you were in on the log go on and do your own things. It's that time. I sent out charts so you know what to do!
Anyone else? It's not contagious, don't worry.)

->action?
I'm coming by. Hold on.
[Eventually---knock knock. There's Billy at the door with a bag of Stuff.]
action!
Thanks for coming.
action!
I've got iodine. You've showered and destroyed your old clothes, right?
Re: action!
[In fact, he's still just as dirty as he was when he posted the video. Ehatever time he's spent in the bathroom since, it hasn't been spent bathing. He slumps again, sick and worried and suddenly uncooperative.]
I'll wash them later. Ms. Asami showed me how.
action!
[Billy's looking panicked. He gestures toward the bathroom while holding out the iodine in his hand.]
Here, take the medicine, you need that now. Then get changed. I'll do anything I need to to help, come on.
Re: action!
He's best from the hike, and crawling into bed sounds so much nicer than crouching in the shower until the dirt caked on him washes off, but it really is stupid to take any chances. He sighs.]
I don't know. I don't know what you should do. Um...
action!
[That said, he slows, looking sympathetic.]
Do you think you can handle it? Because...ah, if you needed help I would. There's just so much more we can do. You have to get better.
Re: action!
Oh hell no. Perverts stay on this side of the door, you got that? I'm not too out of it to notice! I'll definitely-
[Though he doesn't get to finish his rant. The flailing and foot stomping and voice raising gets his stomach going again, and the exit he ends up making isn't the dramatic, door-slamming scene he'd had in mind. Instead, he ends up stumbling into the bathroom and hitting his knees in front of the porcelain again. So much for coming off as tough. Pathetic and scared is all he can manage at the moment.]
action!
[And in that moment his fear feels justified. He waits outside the door, listening intently for the heaving to slow. It doesn't sound good at all. Billy quickly calls up the little he knows about radiation in his memory. He doesn't have a way to tell how dangerous Yosuke's situation is, and that terrifies him. He should've brought a scanner.]
Know what? Just...climb in with your clothes on, it'll work almost as well. Then we can sort this.
Re: action!
When the nausea subsides, Yosuke wordlessly clicks the lock open. Maybe it's not exactly an invitation, but it's permission granted in case of an emergency at any rate. The door he leaves closed, but at least there's no more protesting from him. He just gets into the shower like he's been told, and scrubs as hard as he can, praying silently and shivering even under the hot water stream.
Fifteen minutes later he emerges, wrapped in a towel that's big enough to be a throw blanket. Instead of asking for clothes right away, he heads in to his room and takes a seat on the bed, still huddled inside his giant towel.]
action
Luckily that isn't necessary. Yosuke soon emerges, and a relieved Billy gets back to work. He hustles over to the side of the room and wordlessly offers Yosuke some loose-fitting clothes to lounge in. A vomit bucket is placed at the bedside, and Billy moves in with his gloves and a sealed container to work in the bathroom.]
I'm going to dispose of your old clothes, okay? They can't be washed. I'll clean the bathroom and get rid of all that I can, you get dressed if you feel up to it, okay? I'll knock when I'm done, and I'll be listening if you need me.
[He turns to get to work. Then he'll continue treatment, hoping and that he's not too late. He bites his lip as he goes.]
Re: action
He waits until Billy leaves and puts the other clothes on. The towel he kicks indifferently off of the bed, and gets under the blanket, shivering. What is it about fevers that they always make you feel cold instead?
The vomit bucket gets a curious glance. He didn't even know they had a bucket in the apartment. Then again, Lloyd probably didn't know either. No one's likely to miss it.]
Re: action
All right. I've brought some medications that I stocked up on on our last trip to the past. They're just basic treatments for fever and nausea. There's a pitcher and glass of water on the table, you should try staying hydrated if you can.
[He approaches the bedside, trying not to let the panic he feels show on his face. He fails.]
Then we'll need to go to the Hold to stimulate growth of new blood cells or get you replacements. They were probably damaged by the radiation exposure.
Re: action
Huh? What's that supposed to do? Wait....do you mean like a transfusion? I-I don't think I'm that sick. Right?
[Though even as he says it, something takes a turn for the worse and Yosuke scrambles back out of the bed unhappily. Maybe it really isn't radiation. It feels just like food poisoning to him.]
I, uh. I need the bathroom first. I'll be right back.
action
I don't know how sick you are, Yosuke. We need to run tests to see how extensive the radiation damage is. Unfortunately, I don't have the necessary equipment and I'm not a licensed nurse. I can give you these drugs to ease your pain, they're over the counter, but the drugs for your bone marrow and blood cells have to be obtained from the Hold. And a transfusion might be necessary if those drugs aren't enough.
[He doesn't want to think about what happens if even the transfusion isn't enough.]
Re: action
Everything in my whole body has to be evacuated by now. How much bad stuff can even be left? Do we really need to take the blood out too?
action
[Billy's hand clenches on the blanket.]
That's the problem. Your blood cells could be damaged, and you need those. You'll get drugs to stimulate the growth of healthy new ones, or you can have them donated from the blood supply.
Re: action
[Yosuke offers, finally noticing that he's not the only one who seems to be freaked out about this. Shakily, he pours a glass of the water and chugs it. His stomach doesn't like the rough treatment, but he's thirstier than he realized. It's too good to sip.
When the water is drained, Yosuke pops the fever reducer and nausea medicine dutifully, then gets to his feet.]
Let's go, then. Maybe it won't take long, and I can take a nap after it. That was a long hike, ya know? I'm kinda wiped.
action
I know it's embarrassing but you can lean on me if you need to. And if you really need to, there's always the wheelchair in my room. When you're this sick I don't think anyone would begrudge you a little support.
[Billy opens the door, then waits patiently.]
Re: action
[He jokes, wrapping his arms around himself and shivering. He's still pretty sure he's not as sick as Billy thinks he is. Just the everyday kind of miserable. But he's not sure enough to take the chance of dying from it.
Then again, if that is the case, even treatment might not work. But it's easier not to think about that right now, so he pushes it out of his mind and continues with the joke, faking some good cheer for added effect.]
Then again, she'd probably win right now.
action
I made her a great wheelchair with some special speed options. Maybe she'd let you try it out. But...come on. Think you can come down to the second floor? If not,I'll manage.
Re: action
Ah...no. I mean yeah. I can walk. I'll go.
action
[Billy starts the walk, a little slower than usual. He's not exactly invading Yosuke's space, just on the very edge to step in if something happens.]
You'll be better soon.
[He doesn't know it. He just has to believe it.]
Re: action
[Agrees Yosuke, hoping it only feels like a lie. Suddenly, he's thinking about his mom. What would she do if he never came home? And Souji. And Nanako. The whole team, minus the three who are here, would never know what happened. He'll, they'd probably be waiting for him to turn up on TV, or strung from a telephone pole. It's a disturbing thought.
He picks up his pace a bit, ignoring the small protests from his still vaguely unsettled body. Maybe here they can do more. Maybe it wasn't a high dose. Maybe it'll be fine, really and actually fine, and this brief sickness will be the worst of it. That could happen, right?
Except that thinking about the others reminds him of something, and he has to stop. He curls up again around the way his stomach ripples with a new wave of dread. Naoto. He'd been feeling so rotten, he nearly forgot.]
...There's someone else.
action
[Billy stops in his tracks, stepping close to Yosuke to offer himself as a weight if needed.]
Someone else who was poisoned?
