[Emil still has a lot of doubts about putting himself out there to people he has little business getting involved with and just slightly fewer doubts about the device he's supposed to use, but after a startling run-in with some familiar faces he'd rather not think about again he's a little desperate for people who don't dredge up memories of the worst times of his life. Not to mention, he's still in need of information. So despite how technology tends to bewilder him, Emil sits down and plays with the device and reads instructions until he manages to set up a proper feed. The camera is a little off center and the angle is awkward, but hey - it works.]

Hi, everyone. My name is Emil Castagnier, and I need answers to some questions. First, does anybody recognize the names of Sylvarant or Tethe'alla? Because if so, we come from the same world.

[He's not sure if he should add the next part, but figures it's worth a look.]

Derris-Kharlan, too. I know there are some people from Sylvarant and Tethe'alla here, but I don't know how many.

And second...does anybody know more about the time travel that's done here, and the influences it has on this world? If anyone has more information about the weapons we're given here, I'd like that as well.

So then, how are you supposed to use them to begin with?

That depends on what kind of weapon you chose.

Mine is a ring, but I haven't found a way to activate any of its effects yet.

I chose rings as well. Are yours of a certain type?

This is what it looks like.

[Emil holds up his right hand, where the ring sits on one finger. It's a simple piece, plain silver with a mottled brown stone that may or may not be recognizable as petrified wood.]

I felt drawn to it when I arrived, but I haven't yet been able to make it work at all.

[He raises an eyebrow at the ring and then brings up his hands. The rings on them looked like they were molded by hand while still hot. He flexed his fingers and the rings shifted, the metal flowing over his knuckles and going from decorations to knuckle protectors.]

These give me extra weight for punching among other things. [they shifted back to their dormant shape and Takegami smiled, head tilting to the side.] The thing to know about unusual weapons is that they will take their time to reveal what they can do. Your ring might have already done something and you might not be aware of it yet.

[Those are...some rings. Not useful for Emil, since he prefers the sword, but still impressive. He examines his own ring, still wondering. Emil understands the significance of a ring in relation to someone like himself, but not whether that means anything here and what if so. He hopes it's not what he thinks it is, based on that alone.]

I suppose I'll have to see in a while, then.

Possibly, but might your ring have some special significance to you? A part of your life or maybe even magical properties? It may work in that way as well.

I know of something like it, but it wouldn't make me stronger.

It is suppose to boost your strengths and help your weaknesses grow less, not make you stronger.

It doesn't do that, either.

Hm, no special significance for a ring in your culture?

A partnership or a deal...or marriage. Not this.

Maybe then it works with a less visible talent. Maybe it allows you to make deals easier.

How would that help?

[Especially when there's no way he'll ever form a pact with strangers again. Not after what happened before.]

Not all wars are won through force of arms. Some use the talent of people who can make very good deals or know the right bit of information.

But that's not something I'd be good for here.

Have you been on a mission yet?

Not yet. I still don't know if it's right to interfere with time.

It is not our time that we are interfering with.

Some missions require a quick mind, others require the ability to fight. It might prove useful to be able to make a deal.

[Pacts aren't like that and Emil's still not going to just up and make them with anyone, but...he doesn't want to talk to much about that. It'd be inviting questions he doesn't want to answer.]

Right...maybe. But I still don't know about changing the past, even if it's of a different world.
