i have some questions

1. how many people out there are musicians

2. would anyone be interested in playing in a band

3. is there even enough good instruments in this hellhole for us to form a real rock band

All i got is my acoustic guitar. I'd sell a kidney for a good working electric guitar and amp, but i can live with this. i can sing too, depending on the music. i don't write it b/c i'm shitty with lyrics and stuff but i know enough other songs it'll make your head spin. i'm the king of cover songs. but if the instruments are out there and you're interested get back to me. my name's johnny. idk it might be a stupid idea but i'm bored here a lot and didn't really know any other musicians back home so it might be cool to chill with some here. collaborate. stuff like that. we might even be able to get some gigs around town. i play at Nora Cafe and a few other places if you're interested in hearing what i can do, first.

He's a fiercely fast player, and his voice is best suited to the hard rock and punk covers he sings - low and gravelly. Once he's done his set, he stops to grab a drink. Care to join?]

All kinds of songs, really. I like lively ones, with an upbeat tune.

[Meliantha is at the bar, smiling a bit, as Johnny comes over. She's dressed in older army fatigues, but with her cloak and boots and belt she's usually in, and a sharp eye can see her bracers are under the shirt sleeves.]

Nice work. I brought you a present. [She slides a small bag over to him.]

I did promise you a cut of my sales in return for your help.

[ Did you just ask about instruments and musicians and the like? Takegami is going to sniff just slightly and then turn on the feed, but he isn't going to say anything.

He's going to play. It's a sad song but he is just showing off here. ]

No guitars here? Is this place that bad off?

[ h-he was getting lost, but he stops at the sound of music, slowly veering off course to enter the cafe. quietly, he opens the door, slinking in so as to not disturb the music, and he sits a little ways from johnny, simply appreciating the music. once he's done, daisuke claps quietly, with an all-too-dumb smile. ]

I gotcha. I'm kind of a rock guy myself. Hard and fast. As loud as you can.

[He looks a little surprised. Mostly because he forgot about this part. He takes a look inside of it.]

Ya look like yer all geared up for battle, dressed like that. Not chilling in a bar.

[Johnny listens to the whole thing, the expression on his face unreadable. Well. Not really his kind of music, but he can't deny that's not good. When Takegami's finished, though, he nods approvingly.]

Nice work. I knew we had a coupla pianos around here somewhere.

Not electric ones. Not really an industry for it in the post-apocalypse, I guess. I keep waitin' for somethin' to turn up, though. Ya never know.

That sucks. Not even left overs, huh?

[Johnny just got through some Led Zeppelin. The classics are really his most favorite. When he's finished, he's about to walk off and get something to drink and take abreak, when he hears some clapping.]

Not yet. I keep checkin' the shops. I thought about brinin' one back when they sent us on the 1994 mission, but then they screwed that all up for me, so I didn't get the chance. [He frowns. Johnny's really bitter about that.]

Uh, well, the Initiative has no fucking clue what they're doin'. When we got to 1994, most people had switched bodies. When they brought us back, even more people did. It took them five days to fix it. [He's practically seething.] During the mission before that, they swapped people out with themselves from different times in their lives. Forwards and backwards. My older self was here.

Long story short: I'm not goin' on missions anymore.

I have one, the theater group has one, and I think there is one in the old music store but they don't let anyone play it.

I'm not familiar with the band, but.. it's an American one, right? Ah—[ forms a rock and roll sign with his hand. DOES THIS WORK FOR THIS SITUATION? ]

I have the things I brought with me, and I have these. And the party dress, but that's not for everyday wear, you know? Some day I need to get some other clothes, I suppose, but these are comfortable. I go for comfort over pretty.

Sweet. Extra cash is always good. [He'll spend it on beer and food. :T]

Well I guess ya never know when a fight'll break out here anyway. Real or fake. [He frowns a bit. Stupid Loki and his stupid April Fool's Day trick.]

I guess pianos would be hard to move from gig to gig anyway. Ya play anythin' else?
