[Garnet is clearly trying to maintain her calm, but she has the excitement vibe that is clear of any person who really wants to talk about a new geeky thing.]

I finished Hamlet.

[As for the rest, will get a video of a young woman in what appears to be her room....a room that has a fair amount of books in it now]

Hello. My name is Dagger and I was wondering if anyone could give me any recommendations of books or plays to read. Even with my duties of training and the cafe, I keep finding myself with a lot of time on my hands. So I'd really like to know new stories to read.

My favorite genre is plays and dramas, such as Lord Avon's work- or William Shakespeare, who seems to be an Earth playwright with a similar style. Though I'd be open to other genres as well.

Thanks!

[ in Lord Oscar's absence, he feels an obligation to look after Ada as best he can, so: ]

My, myyyyyy!

You're very modern, aren't you?

Actually I think I've practically archaic according to the current timeline.

( Lips quirked up into a playful grin; she does know what he means. )

True, true...

[ Somewhat more seriously: ]

That, said - you see where progress has got us?

Hey now, pretty sure it wasn't the USA who carpet nuclear-bombed the world into nuclear winter!

From what I understand, nobody was innocent in the whole affair.
whatsupcroc: (☇ smile: oh suuuure buster)

[personal profile] whatsupcroc 2013-04-06 05:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Wonder if thats some sort of universal constant.
maddeninghatter: (mona lisa smile)

[personal profile] maddeninghatter 2013-04-06 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
[ a wry smile ]

Loss of innocence is absolutely inevitable. Hence there's no need to hurry it along, hmmm?
whatsupcroc: (☇ smile: not the kind you mean)

[personal profile] whatsupcroc 2013-04-06 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
( She just smiles, looking amused. )

People make their own decisions. Talk is talk, unless you make it action, you know?
maddeninghatter: (you told that joke already)

[personal profile] maddeninghatter 2013-04-07 07:32 am (UTC)(link)
Yet in making those decisions, the young and ignorant tend to seek out the advice of the - young and ignorant.
whatsupcroc: (☇ smile: see what you did there)

You mean opposites don't always attract?
maddeninghatter: is a lentil casserole (urgh ♘ my vision of hell)

[personal profile] maddeninghatter 2013-04-07 10:10 am (UTC)(link)
[ Now losing patience: ]

When you're a teenager, everything attracts, that's the problem!
whatsupcroc: (☇ smile: see what you did there)

[personal profile] whatsupcroc 2013-04-07 03:33 pm (UTC)(link)
( Collette tries not to smile; she'd been waiting for him to get more impatient and get closer to his point. Which turns out is the fairly standard one that people seemed to think mattered more for ~normal~ people. )

Yeah, I hear that can be totally unnerving. Teenagers are like magnets for all kinds of trouble! How'd you ever survive your teenage years?
maddeninghatter: if you don't want to turn out like me (keep both eyes open)

Ha! Ha! Ha! Ah well, I suppose I'll just have to give Oz the good news himself.

[ He's said more than enough to get both Oz and Ada up in arms should they happen to eavesdrop; that's not his concern. It's more to do with the fact that if he is going to speak plainly, he wants as few witnesses to the event as possible. ]

That's just the problem. Lady Ada's upbringing was very gentle. Very gentle indeed. I have no idea whether she knows what to expect, in any way at all.

[ No mother, absent father, and a doting uncle who would doubtless prefer to fall upon his sword rather than discuss birds and bees with his precious darling niece. Or so Break expects. He's an old man, he doesn't pry into such things! ]

There's a story about a dragon that has quite a lot of traction, in my country.

[ Sort of like the stork. But with fire.

He'd bet cake that Oscar told Ada the dragon story. ]

If you're worried, then tell her. I mean it's a no-brainer. Dancing around the point just because you could and it was normal back where you're from is good, but I'm sorry, we're not exactly there anymore. You sound worried, and it's good to know she's got people watching her back.

But there's the hard way to shake innocence, and there's the smart way. Personally, I'd leave the dragon stories for the littles. You aren't telling someone to go out and, you know, do it, just by telling them what to expect.

Telling other people to keep her in the dark when she's in a city that doesn't keep any of that in the dark? Now that's mean. Besides, better to explain what condoms are for before she ever wants to use one than wait until she comes back and asks why it is the guy was totally like, "But baby, it feels better without one!"
maddeninghatter: (WTF)

maddeninghatter: (pffft!)

[personal profile] maddeninghatter 2013-04-09 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
[ It's Oscar's fault, if anything happens. And Oz's. He's the elder brother, it's his responsibility.

Except he is, technically speaking, now the younger brother. Also it's a fair bet Gilbert told Oz the dragon story as well. ]
maddeninghatter: (my body just feels like shame)

done

[personal profile] maddeninghatter 2013-04-09 05:30 am (UTC)(link)
[ Damn everything. Damn kids. In particular, damn this girl for being right. ]

I suppose...

Well! I suppose there have got to be some books on the subject. In this modern world.

[ Because there is NO WAY he is having this conversation. ]
whatsupcroc: (☇ smile: glad to see you)

i am so sorry asd

[personal profile] whatsupcroc 2013-04-09 05:36 am (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah! I suggest "It's Perfectly Normal," if they have that, it's great for that stuff and puberty and everything!

( Plus it's hilariously side-narrated by a bird and a bee, what's not to love? )

You could send her in to talk with... we don't really have female doctors around right now, do we? At the Transport Clinic, I mean, we do at the usual hospital.

Ah--

[ OR he could foist it off on a doctor. Yes, yes, that is the best option. Make someone else do it, yes what a relief! ]

That's a good idea~♥

I'll just--

[ URRRRGH! But how to even broach the subject? ]
