[The feed starts off a little shaky, almost telling of a technologically incompetent user on the other side, but he seems to have it. After a moment, a long haired man shows up on the screen, inspecting his device to make sure it's really on, and yes, it is.]

So, I got a question. Someone mind explaining to me what these 'missions' are? 'Fraid I'm really not that studying type so going through this backlog is something that's not happening. Figured it'd be easier to ask all of you, since it seems I'm here for the long run. May as well get settled in best I can, and that seemed like something that's necessary to know.

And while I'm asking, anything else I should know? Secret handshakes, passwords, people to avoid, places with good desserts, how do make a dollar or two to survive, you know the basics.

[He smirks for a bit, about ready to turn off the device, then wait... right... manners.]

What does it get me? Is it a code to some underground place no one knows about, or just a signal of some sort? Anyway, count me in, I'll learn it.

Basically, it sounds like they just throw us wherever and we deal with it. Not sure if I like these initiative people anymore.

So two equally bad groups. Do I have the option of forming a third group independent of the two? Can't say what I'm hearing is motivating me to help at all.

Any liar can tell you he's got a secret handshake, the trick is having it mean something, right? Anyone can say they're forming a third group. If you've got the stuff to really do it, you don't care if it's allowed.

But yeah, you're right. I was thinking that maybe I needed to know some passcodes to get into places, but now I'm starting to see that maybe that's not the case.

We're all part of a third faction, really. Our interests, by definition, coincide with neither the Initiative nor the United Earth.

[ He shakes his head. ]

But it's hard to get organized when most people are only here for a few months, and you've no way of knowing when you'll leave, or when you'll get dragged back in. I almost wonder if it's intentional.

I wouldn't be so sure. I'm still here, and I've been doing an awful lot of not trying.

Well, I'd rather not try and see no results than try and see no results, so guess I'll see how everything plays out.
