[The feed starts off a little shaky, almost telling of a technologically incompetent user on the other side, but he seems to have it. After a moment, a long haired man shows up on the screen, inspecting his device to make sure it's really on, and yes, it is.]
So, I got a question. Someone mind explaining to me what these 'missions' are? 'Fraid I'm really not that studying type so going through this backlog is something that's not happening. Figured it'd be easier to ask all of you, since it seems I'm here for the long run. May as well get settled in best I can, and that seemed like something that's necessary to know.
And while I'm asking, anything else I should know? Secret handshakes, passwords, people to avoid, places with good desserts, how do make a dollar or two to survive, you know the basics.
[He smirks for a bit, about ready to turn off the device, then wait... right... manners.]
Please and thank you.
[So that may have been sarcastic but he figured he didn't want those moral types to be on his case for not saying 'please' or something.]

So they tell us what to do and expect us to do it?

Well, the missions you're assigned are requests from the Initiative to go to a certain location and time, to accomplish a goal. Vagueness aside, a recent mission the majority of us here were sent on required us to go to a place in New Mexico, to ensure that a man managed to be elected as mayor.
Frankly it makes me a little uneasy that we're asked - required really - to go into the past to prevent things from happeing - or make sure they do. Playing around with the timelines... who knows what our actions in the past will have on the present here.
I don't know about people to avoid, exactly - but there are vampires, so you should be careful of that at least.
[ Video ]
I'm not so sure about this going and changing the past thing. While it sounds ideal, wouldn't it be a bad idea or potentially make something worse? [He shrugs, just basing this off of basic knowledge, not on books or anything.]
Guess it's the whole 'required' thing that throws me off, too. Not really sure how I feel about messing with another world's timeline, or whatever. But I guess that's a whole different topic.
And vampires. Got it.
[ Video ]
I guess when you think about the long term, I can understand why they say we're required to help - but it would be better received if they gave people the choice to participate.
Hn. OH! Yes, I should also warn you, there's a tabloid reporter around here by the name of Rita Skeeter. She targeted one of my guildmates in an 'article' of hers, and made a bunch of people think our guild was some twisted cult or something. She did the same thing to two other girls - but I don't really know their situations, so I'm basing that on the fact that she couldn't get our details right either.

[She sighs quietly, almost airily as she props her chin up with one hand.]
Messing with time seems quite dangerous if you ask me, even if it's all for a good cause.
But what's so special about getting a different mayor? Unless the other guy was so corrupt they had to do something.
[And if that works, then so be it.]
Maybe that's the case. Moony Jackson was picked to improve Black Rock's conditions and help that town prosper.

But they're too cheap to save the locals.
Hrm... People to avoid? Eh, I'd trust your own judgment there, there's some typical human petty rivalries going around. Actually, there's the guy who has the zombie plague power, I forget his name but, well, most of us who like being something that isn't mindless undead should avoid him.
You can grab day jobs by asking around if the stipend they give you isn't enough for your purposes.

[But yeah, that going back in time stuff really bothers him. What gives him the right to mess with someone else's history?]
Yeah, so no one major? Guess that's good to know.
[And day jobs... yeahhh... no. Unless it's being a hunter or killing monsters then that's another thing.] It should be enough, but just in case I'd like find ways to make an extra dollar if necessary. [Keywords: if necessary.]

The missions change each time. And I haven't been here long enough to figure out the pattern, if there is one.

What does it get me? Is it a code to some underground place no one knows about, or just a signal of some sort? Anyway, count me in, I'll learn it.
[And then he gives an affirming grunt to the second part.]
Basically, it sounds like they just throw us wherever and we deal with it. Not sure if I like these initiative people anymore.
