[ This lady's looking a little different, for anyone that's spoken with her before. Not any older, but there's a sort of crooked quality to her nose, like it'd been broken and healed some time ago. She's lounging in the Initiative apartments, looking like she's recently made friends with a superiority complex. ]

I want to speak to those of you who have seen a war before. Not the skirmishes that the Initiative sends us on here, but actual war.

And failing that, I'll take anyone that knows magic — and can teach it. That part is important. Don't waste my time if all you can do is cast it.

Like that time lieutenant... [ ...told everyone she was going to get married, was how that sentence ended in his head. Which wasn't a very good story at all. Wait, it was good that she was getting married but it was confusing too and his mind drifts to this train of thought for a while. ]

... the time when she helped us save a village from getting sick.

[ This is a good story, really. Any story with the lieutenant that isn't about her getting married is a good story. ]

That doesn't sound very exciting. Was there even any battle involved?

The enemy had a tank.

What's that?

You don't know what a tank is?

[ It's a bit unheard of for him, given his occupation. ]

A tank is-- how do I explain this-- it's a four-wheeled, heavy, armored fighting vehicle. It has a large-caliber gun on the rotating turret on top of its hull. It's size and destructive power makes it one of the most powerful weapons of war where I come from.

A vehicle means it isn't alive. [ a beat ] Right?

[antitanker]

It's not, but it takes a crew of four people to fully operate one.

[onblackwings]

That sounds unwieldy. If someone in my world wanted the most powerful weapon of war, they would just find a dragon.

[antitanker]

We don't have dragons where I'm from. If there were, the war would probably be very different.

[onblackwings]

Did you win it? Your war.

[antitanker]

It took years, but they finally called for a ceasefire.
