[ it's been a month and mithos has gotten pretty situated here. however, other than getting used to the new place when he could (aka when they're not being transported somewhere else) he hasn't really ... done much else.

and that has included meeting others and getting to know them. and now that the person he really knew from back home seemed to have been avoiding him a week or so ago he feels... lonely.

perhaps a bit more than he should. and within that a pile of other emotions that come with it. he's doing a good job trying to suppress them but it's only a matter of time.

but as an attempt to rid of them, a question. ]

How easy is it for some of you to make friends? Or even become acquainted with someone. I know some people find it easier than others, so if you find it easy what is it that makes it easy for you?

[ he already somewhat knows the answer to the other side of the question. and there is always the 'i don't care' answer but that is one he doesn't want to hear right now.

there is a small pause ]

And what do you do when you're alone with no one to talk to.

[ because he certainly feels like he has no one to talk to right now. maybe it's partially why he's making this? ]

[ The moment he heard Kratos' voice the feelings that he was doing well to suppress were suddenly really hard to do so. He was the reason why he felt so lonely. He was so cold, so ... unlike who he knew.

It was a while until he replied. A part of him did want to hear the explanation. But part of him didn't want to. he was scared to. What if it just made things worse?

... as if it could.

Eventually he does respond, but he sounds distant. ]

Would I? Does it make any difference?

[It hurts to hear Mithos sound so unlike himself. The boy should never sound like this. Of all the people in the world, he truly didn't deserve this.

And it's all because of Kratos. The frown on his face deepens. Right, this is all his fault. No matter at what cost, he has to set things right. Maybe the truth will make things worse, maybe it won't, but it needs to be said.]

Whatever comes as a result will come, however [a short pause] not that long ago, in yet another world, I swore to myself to never keep secrets from you. If you would permit it, I wish to honor this promise here, as well.

[ Mithos thinks about what Kratos says for a moment. Well, if anything he'll at least know why he acted that way last week, and that is what he wants to know the most. So if this answers that question ... ]

All right. What is it you want to explain.

[ There's no change in his demeanor, but at least he's not objecting to it. ]

[Silence comes from the other end. Nice as Mithos' lack of objection is, discussing such information over the network seems risky. One can never be too cautious when talking on a network other people access. Not to mention, the likelihood of losing his nerve decreases substantially if they meet.]

...This topic is one best explained in person.

[ At first he wasn't sure whether he wanted to go and meet Kratos in person. But at the same time he did understand that something of this importance might be better explained when they are face to face.

Where do you want to meet.

[Having the suggestion be accepted instead of flat out rejected is a good sign. Honestly, the fact Mithos is speaking to him at all is a good sign.]

Either your apartment or my own would likely be best.

[The actual choice is left up to Mithos]

Come to my apartment. I'll be here.

[ Since it was Kratos who wants to talk it only seemed with to Mithos that he makes the effort to come on over to explain. It was almost like a small test to see if he really means it by coming over. ]

[Being the one to go to the other's apartment suits him just fine. The important thing is actually speaking. Where it happens isn't nearly as imoportant.]

Understood. Your apartment number?

1205. I'll leave the door open for you.

I'll be there momentarily.

[True to his word, Kratos finds himself up on the 12th floor within a minute or so. There's some hesitation in his steps, but the reminder of how much worse the situation could be makes him keep moving forward. Nothing could compare to the incident in Death City. Right. This still isn't nearly as bad and it had to be taken care of before escalating to such a level.

Or before it somehow results in Mithos becoming Yggdrasill.

The thought alone is enough to destroy any ounce of hesitation as he reaches the apartment. Though any memory of Yggdrasill had left the instant Kratos regained himself, all those feelings lingered. All the hatred, all the loathing, all the guilt, they were still all present. He frowns. To hold such emotions towards someone once so good and kind...

One thing remains certain: he never wants to have these emotions manifest themselves here and will do anything to see to that. Kratos grasps the doorknob and lets himself in.]

[ Mithos waits for the arrival of his mentor. Though at the time he still wasn't sure whether or not he was going to even show. It's wasn't until he saw the doorknob turn and Kratos walking in before knowing that Kratos does mean to tell him something.]

You came.

[ That came out in a matter of factly manner as he tries to look emotionless in front of him. oOn top of that sound neutral.]

We can talk here. Just close the door behind you first.

[Wordlessly, Kratos follows the command and shuts the door. He doesn't dare move forward from his spot. Right now, Mithos is his lord. Any and all actions will be determined by his word.

That said, standing like a statue isn't appropriate in this situation. After a short moment of silence and stillness, he gets down on one knee and bows before the boy who is his lord.]

Before arriving in Exsilium, I had been transported to yet another world, one also in the midst of war. You had been there, as well. However, there had been others from our world there, individuals from the future.

[There's a brief pause here as Kratos debates the best way to continue.]

This future is not how you and I envisioned it. The person I had been last week was from that future. It does not excuse the behavior I displayed towards you, but it is the truth.

[Part of him debates stopping here but decides against it. More is left to be said. No, more needs to be said.]

Back in Death City, not only had I done all in my power to prevent this future, but I had also done my best to keep the truth from you by means of lying and purposeful vagueness, something rendered useless when you had found Yuan's ring among Lloyd's possessions. You loathed me for a time until I revealed my lie. I begged you to not ask details of this future and you agreed in exchange for swearing me to an oath of truth.

[An oath that he's adhering to even here. Never again will he lie to Mithos like that. Never.]

Which is why I ask the same plea once more of you, my lord... my friend. Should you wish to hear the details of the future, I will unquestioningly obey and provide those, however I beg you not to do so.

[ Mithos listened to Kratos quietly with an unreadable expression. He doesn't say a word not even after Kratos has finished for a moment as he repeats what Kratos had said in his head and processed it.

So Kratos knew about the future and it wasn't a good one. But he doesn't want Mithos to ask about it. And not only that, but he had been in another world and Kratos had done the same thing?

He doesn't quite understand about him being in another world before he if he doesn't recall, but he could tell that Kratos seems very sincere about this.

Mithos wanted to question why Lloyd would have Yuan's ring. He really did. But instead he pushed it to the back of his mind, finally deciding that he would accept Kratos' plea. If his future was as bad as Kratos says, then perhaps it is best that he not hears of the details. ]

All right. I won't ask of any details about the future. At least I understand why you were so harsh to me; that it had something to do with the future.

[ He's be lying if he didn't have questions about that as well but ... ]

You're my mentor and my friend. I may lose you as one in the future, but I don't want to lose you now. You're... you're the only one I can trust in this world. I don't want to lose that.

[Not everyone would be so willing to accept such a request. Mithos having done so not once but twice is truly a testament to the boy's character. Somehow, someway, Kratos will see to it that Mithos remains as he does while also making sure Lloyd doesn't cease to exist. Somehow.]

I will do whatever necessary to retain your trust.

[Ah, something else does need to get said after all that. To have someone be so willing to listen to this sort of a request and then accept it deserves a thanks at the very least.]

Thank you, Mithos, and I truly apologize if that behavior had hurt you.

[ Mithos nods his head. ]

I'm glad to hear it.

[ Because to lose the only person who he currently thinks he can trust right in a world where there is currently no one else would hurt. A lot.

Finally, there was a small smile on him after Kratos' next words. ]

Don't worry. We just have to look forward from here, right?

[The smile gets returned by Kratos. How can he not smile at this sort of behavior. The amount of respect he holds for the boy, especially after all this, is immense.]
