[ video ]

[ So here's Jesse and Collette, grinning stupidly at the camera and looking like they've got a plan up their sleeves. Jesse's the first to speak, rubbing his hands together excitedly: ]

Okay, so like... I heard there's superheroes here. Like real, bona fide superheroes. Costumes and everything. And, like, where I come from, you know, we don’t really got superheroes except in stories. So we were thinking it'd be real cool...

[ Collette glances at Jesse, then to the camera. She blurts out something that surely will never ever cause immense embarrassment once she learns the extent of the super heroes she's been around (discounting Barnaby and Kotetsu, who are weird anyway): ]

... If we could meet a few of you in person, and maybe even get an autograph!

You mean apart from the fact that it's ridiculous?

There's nothing wrong about honoring heroes. From afar.

Heroes don't do what they do to get medals or ribbons.

Yeah, I know, 'cause there's all selfless and whatever, but somebody can still tell 'em they're great. And, um, wanna meet 'em. Especially coming from a world without 'em, you know. Stuff gets pretty messed up when you don't got heroes in a world.
whatsupcroc: (☇ ask: if that's really the case)

Superheroes. Every world has heroes.

( She glances up at Jesse. )

Yours too.

What qualifies as superheroes for you, then? Only those who have supernatural abilities, I presume.
whatsupcroc: (☇ consider: what I've seen)

[personal profile] whatsupcroc 2013-01-31 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
Nope! Though supernatural abilities are really cool. I guess they're the people who step up to take on the big, scary ideas, or who put everything out there even if the payoff isn't much more than satisfaction in knowing you've done right. Kind of outside the law, if working with it, 'cause the things they do really aren't covered in the law=books.

The kind of people that'd drive Miles Edgeworth totally batty because they uphold truth and justice, but in a different way than he does!

So no, not about supernatural abilities... but maybe supernatural stubbornness to keep doing something dangerous for the sake of other people. Waaaay past when most people would be like no! I've had enough! Not that they can't retire... or something like that.

[She smirks a bit at that.] Supernatural stubbornness, huh? [That's an interesting way to put it, actually. And it fits Robin quite well.]

[Wait.] ...You're saying Miles doesn't like superheroes?
whatsupcroc: (☇ consider: what's up doc?)

[personal profile] whatsupcroc 2013-01-31 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
Hahah! No, I have no idea. I think he'd just frown at people taking the law a little liberally. He'd love what they do. Hmm... maybe he'd actually be jealous! He's really harsh on the idea of crime. Not all that forgiving about it, either.

( Jesse please don't understand all this means, later. )

I see. Well as long as superheroes bring villains to justice, it should be fine with him.

It's not really an "at all stakes" game all the time, though, is it? Though I guess it's always supposed to be as if the world's ending... I used to think that was just for the dramatics!
feel_nevermore: (Default)

[personal profile] feel_nevermore 2013-02-01 10:22 am (UTC)(link)
It's not a game. And it's not only for the dramatics. [Not as far as Raven's concerned, at least.]
whatsupcroc: (☇ ask: something you're thinking on?)

( She just smiles a little -- poor wordchoice aside, she doesn't find a reason to reiterate what Raven's already said. )

It is on television. Sometimes even in real life, though that has real stakes tied up in what you do.

I like it best for the sports stuff. Skateboarding, the olympics, the X-Games... stuff like that! The rest, not so much. What are you fond of?

They don't do it because they're selfless. But because they can do it when no one else can or will. And because that way they're kind of accepted by 'normal' people. [Most of the time, at least.]

Maybe some superheroes are glad to have fans like rock stars but some just want to be left alone. And not have attention drawn to them.
