For those of you who may have noticed the petting zoo that's shown up in the courtyard overnight, a word of caution:

In a city which is not overflowing in pet stores, when something claims to be offering animals for adoption with no one checking for owner suitability, and all of the animals offered coming from local wildlife, you should probably think three times before even touching what's penned up out there.

Wild animals are meant to be wild. Acting as tame as they are with no keepers in evidence is suspicious when any keeper who spends the time necessary to properly socialize an animal to be okay with the loud, strange ways people move should be putting potential adopters through the grinder.

Given what I've heard up to this point, yes, it's weird. People are free to make their own decisions, but stopping to think about why this is odd can only help.

I'm a bit confused as to how to approach these animals.
I was going to ask my friend if she would like to play with them
but now I'm not so sure.
They seem harmless enough but I don't want to risk anything.

You might be amazed at the time you can find if you really need it. The answer around here is "only those with the luxury to afford one." I haven't seen dogs or cats in general, so that rules out the largest domestic force along with the easiest sort of mutual benefit companionship.

If you're hungry, I'd rather take you out to eat. Not to say the kitchens people have around here are guaranteed clean, but the meat's likely to be good, and you're honestly paying for it. Anything that comes this easy has a hidden cost. Not necessarily a bad one, but... I'm choosing to be a pessimist over an optimist right now.

It's food for thought at the least. What people decide to do or not do is up to them in the end. Still figured it was worth pointing out the need to think before acting.

( Part of her can also recognize that this is paranoia talking. Often righteous before, but this is a different place. Assuming it plays by the kind of hardball she's lived through before is faulty. )

Easier said than done for some people including myself. I was there when the boxes first arrived and I can't shake these guys off. Doesn't help that due to my father's work, foxes are naturally drawn to me.

Humans have always been particularly good at domesticating animals, and I've known several to have had rabbits, squirrels, snakes, and others as pets. I wouldn't worry.

Have you known those several to leave those animals out in pens with signs asking people to take them away, and no sign of themselves?

maybe its an effect from one of our missions! like the refugees from before! we finally did something right! anyway, we don't have to take them in as pets but there's no reason to not spend time with them out in the courtyard, right?
