Yes. The Mages Guild is the organization that governs the studies and practices of magic in Tamriel.

Destruction, such as fire, frost and lighting. Conjuration, which calls forth weapons and creatures. Restoration, which heals wounds and removes ailments. There are other schools of magic but I don't practice them. [ Necromancy is forbidden, because it's wrong. He doesn't care for Illusion or Alteration, aside from a magelight here and there, needed to light up caverns, or for night readings. ]

And necessary. Without it, many mages would've died by their own hands.

Illusion, which involves manipulating the minds of others. Alteration, the manipulation of the natural world and its natural properties. Mysticism, spells which absorb, reflect, and dispel magic, move objects, sense life, and bind souls.

Then there's forbidden arts, such as necromancy and daedric magic.

Do you need help controlling your powers? If they're magic-based, I might be able to help you.

he has no idea if they're actually magic-based, however... just what is darkness based on? it seems more of emotion or will-based. and what's more, if it gets out of control, he can't guarantee this man's safety. ]

Sadly, yes. Each realm has its own phenomena that governs magic. [ Martin knows because Anders' magic comes from a different plane than his. ] I am. We could use the Hold's training rooms. That's where I practice my magic.

Weird. Where I come from, I've been able to use the magic I've always used, and it doesn't change. [ but then, that's a keybearer thing. ] Right. ... any specific day or time?

It's the same for me. Even here, I can still use my magic, even though I'm not in my realm.

Afternoons would be best. I'm quite busy with training and the clinic in the mornings.
