[The four-eyed alien on the screen is excitedly typing away on her laptop with two hands, and waving two more in excited ways. Because yes, she has four hands and she is making wild gestures to punctuate each and every word she says. She is not going to stop for anything.]

I can’t believe this! Humans are everywhere, this is the most amazingly perfect opportunity! I have been studying humans, of course, but my sample size has been very limited up until now!

Let me review my notes so far- [She taps a few times on her laptop to bring up said notes, rapidly reading over them a few times before she starts talking again]

Humans are a fairly low-tech pre-spaceflight species, not many of them have made it into space! Which is such a shame, they’re a very attractive species, even though they tend to be a bit hairy and don’t have enough eyes. But I haven’t let things like that get in my way before! [She laughs loudly, then continues]

What else, what else- I wish I had my original notes here, I really did! Oh yes- humans are remarkably stubborn, prone to irrationality...and quite a violent species, too, aren’t they? They certainly do love their wars! Only two sexes too, correct? Isn’t that a shame.

I believe that’s where my data ends! I need more, much more to fill out a proper database file. And if any are up for an examination....well, I am a doctor! I need to know how to treat all of you, don’t I?

Oh, I'm so excited to start working! Tell me where I'm needed, please?

[Shepard gives a wide grin at the notes presented here. You are a strange looking alien, lady. Not something she's ever seen before.] I don't know what humans you know, but I've lived in space practically all my life, and I've traveled to more star systems than I can even count.

Your data is probably going to be a lot more convoluted, if you're intent on studying humans around here. [a pause.] What species are you?

If you have more specific questions, that would help. There is a lot to cover, otherwise!

[Hmmm.] What planet are you from? Have you not had much contact with humans before? What is your society like?

[s-so curious...] I'm Commander Shepard, by the way.

[fourscience]

Kuthad. And no, humans have no space flight technology! Encountering them is very rare. I have only met three in my life. Until now!

Hm. As for my species' society. A lot of focus on material gain. We are not very interesting.

It is good to meet you, Commander! I am doctor Kinna Nananea. Nananea, if you would like to be informal.

It's strange to think of humans being pre-contact, although it's not like it wasn't all that long ago that we were in my timestream.

I'm sure you're more interesting than you think.

[A grin.] You can just call me Shepard, Nananea.

Hm. Perhaps we are. But my own species does not hold much interest for me. It is easy to dismiss them as boring.

Ah! You gave me your title. I assumed that was your preferred name.

[twiceadays]

That I can understand. You're always more fascinated with those who aren't like you at all.

[She smirks.] The title's habit at this point, but I'm not much of a commander here.

[fourscience]

Oh, yes! You are absolutely correct there. I have spent the majority of my lifetime among others of my kind. They are not a novel subject.

It is a respectable title, is it not? I think I will use it. I enjoy the sound of it! Commander.

[twiceadays]

I think you'll find plenty of new kinds around here to start getting to know.

[A nod.] It is. I've worked hard for my rank. [And it's technically only been recently given back to her.] If that's what you want to use, I won't say no to it.

[fourscience]

Oh, yes! And I am so excited! So much new information to gather.
