☢ 1 [Video/Open to Action]

[ardor]

[The feed clicks on, and the video shows a rather vexed young woman walking along the sidewalk or what there is of one. Her brows are drawn together, and her blue eyes are narrowed, displaying both suspicion and frustration at her surroundings. Finally, she grumbles and stops walking, looking directly at the screen.]

I don't know what sort of sick change this is, but I'm not laughing. What the hell is the Initiative, and why do I need a weapon now? There damn well better be some decent answers. No one's been very eager to explain much.

[She scowls up at the building behind her.]

New home, huh? We'll see. [Kallen sighs and directs her attention to the feed once more.]

It's doubtful anyone's been happy about arriving here, so it's a pretty safe bet there's no known way back yet, huh? That figures.

[Instead of going straight inside, the redhead simply sits against the wall of the building, still glaring at anything that meets her gaze.]

Just perfect.

Think you already know my answer. [Though he can't help chuckling as he reaches out a hand towards her, that ever present smile having yet to leave his expression.] So let's see what this place has to offer, hm?

I just wanted to double check. [She chuckles in return, taking the offered hand as she steps in a random direction.]

Lead away!

[helljumper]

[A small nod at that, before he's using his other hand to pop his helmet back on. Only for the visor to shimmer away and reveal his face again, as he turned to look down at her with a smirk.]

Just don't blame me if we get lost.

[Not that they will, considering Rookie mostly knew how to pay attention to his surroundings when it was needed. But he'll go ahead and start walking towards whatever looked interesting.]

[ardor]

You know I will.

[She smirks back up at him before she joins him in heading whatever direction. After a bit of walking, she pipes up again.]

Hey.

[helljumper]

[Only an expressive roll of his helmet and a laugh, before he'd continued casually strolling along.

Until she grabs his attention again, making him glance over.]

Hm?

[ardor]

Are you nervous about being here? Without anyone else I mean.

[She doesn't look at him, she just keeps her gaze on the path ahead of them.]

[helljumper]

Still have you here, don't I?

[Might be some tiny attempt to deflect the question, as the comment itself was said with a teasing smile. Though he's not exactly looking in her direction, so much as giving her a sideways glance.]

[ardor]

Cute, but that doesn't count when you know what I mean. You're the only one from your world. I was used to it back at the castle, but you've always had others there with you.

[helljumper]

[There's the slightest drop in his shoulders, something that Kallen might miss if she wasn't paying attention, before he's quickly straightening up and giving her a light shrug.]

I'll be okay. [A soft smile.] Sort of prefer it that way, to be honest.

Think they'd be better off at the castle where they can actually relax, than getting dragged into some dumb war anyway.

[She was paying attention by then, and she does notice. Kallen comes to a halt, tugging on his hand for him to stop, too.]

I think a few of them would swat you for daring to say that. They'd accuse you of wanting all the fun to yourself. [She gives him a smile back.]

Stop it, or I might have to do that for them.

[Her attempt at playfulness is to try and hide the underlying worry she possesses about their current situation. Whether it works or not is another issue entirely.]

[helljumper]

[The tug caused him to jerk forwards a little, before catching himself and slowly turning around to face her. As usual, he found that her words were something that proved to be unexpected, and for that reason there was a slim smile. Mostly because Kallen was probably right, in regards to the friends that he had made in the castle.

And for that reason, he couldn't help but give a chuckle.]

Well, if they ever show up, I'll be happy to share. [Then a pause, before he's squeezing her hand gently and tugging her closer to him.] But until then, I think I'll be fine with you here.

[ardor]

[She allows herself to be tugged closer, fighting a smile as she moves.]

I told you to stop that.

[helljumper]

[He decides to play an innocent look, turning his helmet so she could see the expression on his face completely. Though it's obvious he's trying to hide that smile.]

Stop what?

[ardor]

This.

[Now it's her turn to tug him closer, which she does as she gives a wry smile in return.]

[helljumper]

[The tug causes him to become a bit unbalanced, before he's correcting his footing and laughing.]

Okay, okay. I'll quit.

[ardor]

Too late.

[She tugs him over again until she's meeting him halfway by leaning against his side. Kallen simply laughs now.]

[helljumper]

[A grunt in reaction to getting yanked again, before he's giving a few more chuckles. If mostly because he retaliated with a small nudge to her side, once he felt her lean against him. An action he did carefully, of course, considering the armor, but he still kept that silent, playful look.]

[ardor]

[She grins up at him once her laughter ceases. Straightening herself, Kallen readies to keep walking, hand still holding his.]

Come on.

[helljumper]

[He'll give a grin in return, tagged with a bit of an eyeroll, before Rookie will go ahead and take a step forwards to show he was ready to continue. Though not before giving her a considering look, once a thought crossed his mind.]

What about you? I'm sure you had friends back at the castle, too.

[ardor]

[That question causes her to look down in thought as they keep walking.]

Yeah, but not from home. It's been over a year and a half since I've had any of those.

[Silence at that, thinking, before he's finally giving a shrug.]

Might end up being different here.

[ardor]

I don't mind if none of them come. They's seen more than enough fighting.

[She definitely misses them, though, and it's obvious by her tone.]

[helljumper]

Now you're just starting to sound like me. [He gives her another light nudge, smiling.] Personally wouldn't mind getting to know some of your friends.

[ardor]

It's true, though. Some of them are just civilians who were caught up in everything. [That makes her give him a small smile in return as she rests her head on his armored shoulder. It probably looks pretty silly.]

They'd like you.

[helljumper]

Ah. I can understand why you wouldn't want them to get dragged into all of this, if that's the case.

[And if it was silly, Rookie didn't seem to mind it. Although Kallen did get an intrigued glance from him after hearing her last few words.]

I'll have to take your word for it.
