My name is Adam Jensen, and I've been with the Detroit Police Department and its SWAT division for almost ten years. The last two, I worked as a Private Security Specialist. Earth, 2027, no major deviations.

With that out of the way, I've [ hacked through everything ] read up on past events since the transports started and noticed that the security measures around the compound, the city in general and especially the transport apartments are insufficient; and I think it's in everyone's best interest that we maintain a safe and secure environment for ourselves because I don't think the Initiative gives much of a shit. I'll try and do something about it provided they let me mess around with their precious security systems and joke of a network.

Until I sorted that out, I can at least provide you with an impromptu code I whipped up a little while ago that should make your online communications a tiny bit more secure. Feel free to use it—you just need to download and unpack it, then apply it to any transmission.

Well, waitresses need to bring a lot of essential skills. A good sense of balance, patience, thick skin and the ability to talk down and reason with obnoxious customers. I'm sure that's all going to come in handy.

They make it out to sound like it's pretty important that we do win, even if the odds are slim.

People here seem reasonably capable, at least. That's something.

I'm still not entirely convinced that this isn't some poorly disguised social experiment or something. Or maybe it's a reality soap, big brother style, and we're just serving to entertain the UE people. Can't be sure what those cameras are really intended for.

They used to be a lot more hostile toward us. Things changed after we all came back from our time missions.

I was gone while the riot happened, but my brother -- had to defend himself, I guess.

Can you elaborate on what exactly caused it?

People were getting -- sick. Transports and everyone else, you know? I guess they blamed us.
