1st Set - Christmas Day Duet

[Seiya has the tablet set up so the edges of the video feed are also the edge of the room. Behind her is Lyra the Harp, seen at right, who is one of Lucy Heartphilia's (

celestial_wizard) Celestial Spirit friends. She is at the ready with harp tuned and Seiya has no mic, but hey small room will echo just fine over the feed. Seiya is dressed in her stage suit (seen at left) that she came into Exsil with since this is indoors. All around them is a circle on the floor of unlit lanterns made from.]

Seiya: Good evening, everyone! It's Christmas Day and I know I've only known some of you a short time, but I think many of us have something in common: people we miss very much. Thanks to Miss Lyra here, I've been able to prepare a small set for all of you tonight. My name is Kou Seiya, of the band Three Lights in Japan, and I hope you enjoy our short Christmas Day show! [A quick turn off-camera as she whispers with a smile] Lea, Tsuzuki, if you please? [With that she walks back to stand by Lyra and nods] 1,2...

[The ring of lanterns light up one after another and Lyra begins playing the first song and Seiya introduces it.]

Seiya: Our last song was written by Lyra herself, and she has kindly allowed me to sing it for you all tonight as we bid farewell to the light of day. May you all keep the hope of this holiday in your hearts throughout our time together. Like stars twinkling in the night sky, we can come together like constellations and support one another. Someone special taught me that and I am glad to know her sentiment is shared here. So here it is - "Song of the Stars."

What is it that you play?

String instruments and singing are my specialties. Guitars, lutes, mandolins... You get the range.

I still haven't had a chance to learn electrics, though.

Wow, mandolin... that's kind of old I think, isn't it? I play guitar and drums as well. Electric guitar is really fun, but sometimes it's nice to just beat on the drums too.

The only way I was able to practice was in the hologram area.

Where I'm from, it's actually a very new instrument. Different worlds and timeframes, and all that.

Ah, I keep forgetting! I'm so sorry - what was your name?

Pidonus Marasia, bard. Light healing magic, random utility stuff, and my music can create magical effects of various sorts.

You're a... [She blinks] I'm sorry did you say a bard? That's... so incredible that you've been able to create magical effects with your magic! How do you do it?

... It's not that unusual where I'm from. It's not like every performer gains magical power from it, but quite a few do...

Is it something that can be taught I guess was my question.

Oh! Yeah. Though it's kinda odd to learn for people from different worlds...

Odd how? I mean, obviously language hasn't been a problem for me so far, but I can think of another reason for that.

My world doesn't obey the laws of physics until after the laws of narrative causality and the rules of a disturbingly ornate role-playing game.

I'm confused how a world that just discovered the mandolin also has video games.

People always say that, but no, not video games.

[ Bloom watches the whole way through, though she doesn't turn on the camera until after the performance has ended. When she clicks it on, she laughs happily and applauds eagerly. ] That was beautiful! What a great way to start Christmas off. It must have taken a ton of effort and preparation to set all this up. Thank you for hosting this concert for us.

[ She pauses. There was something odd she noticed during the show though... Something that felt distinctly magical. She hesitates, taps her fingertips together in her lap uncertainly, then looks at the feed. ] This might be a little strange to ask, but by any chance do any of you use magic?

[Couldn't hurt to play dumb just a bit longer, right?]

I'm sure that Miss Lucy does, and she's Miss Lyra's friend here... Why do you ask, miss...?

[ Strange... It must have been one of them. She shakes her head slowly and makes it a point to remember both girl's names. Who knows, maybe they're fairies. ]

Oh, you don't have to worry about it! It was probably nothing anyway.

I promise not to laugh about it!

Laugh about it...? [ Did she even say anything about someone laughing at her? ]

I thought that's why you didn't want to say something, right? Because I might laugh at you for believing in magic?

[Now she's thinking maybe there are definitely more people like Lucy out there than she'd initially believed.]

[ Of course, Lucy is sitting right up front, nearer to Lyra's line of sight to support her dear friend, and Seiya both. Of course she was dressed nicely as appropriate for a concert, one leg crossed over the other and a broad smile on her face. The songs from Seiya were beautiful on their own, but when Lyra began to play her song, and Seiya added his(her) lyrics to it.. Lucy felt her hand lift to press over her mouth slightly. God, she always loved Lyra's music, and this one had a special significance for them. But the duet made it something more, she couldn't help but be moved again.

Much to her surprise as she listened to the song, the image of a girl - a princess? came to mind. Not someone Lucy had ever met, but it wasn't enough to detract from the beauty of the duet. She cast a glance towards the stage, catching Lyra's gaze on her, and knew the spirit had also picked up on the image. Strange. Had Seiya seen it too? ]

[Seiya comes up after it's over and smiles at Lucy.]

I think that went well, don't you? [And she turns to Lyra.] I couldn't have done it without you. Thank you so much for your hard work, Lyra!

It went wonderfully! [ Says Lucy who has a Lyra clinging to her right arm. SHe's such a happy go lucky spirit. ] You have a wonderful voice - and the duet at the end..!

[ Giggling, she squeezes Lyra's arm proudly. THe spirit turned her beaming smile towards Seiya at the thanks. ]

Aah, I should be the one thanking you Mr. Seiya, for letting me play alongside you. You're really quite talented - and I'm happy to help out a friend of Lucy's.

Any time you'd like a partner Miss Lyra, please just send Lucy to fetch me. I'll surely never run out of the need to practice.

[She turns back to Lucy.] And thank you very much. If not for you this wouldn't have happened. Hopefully... hopefully it generated some interest.

[ Lyra giggles, nodding firmly. ]

I'll be sure to do just that, Mr. Seiya!

[ Her bond with Lucy wasn't quite as strong as Virgo and Loke's, so she didn't have enough magic power on her own to come through to the human world. But if she had a music partner, then maybe!

Lucy, still pondering on the image of that strange woman in her head, blinked at the thanks, shaking her head with a smile. ]

Not at all - that was all your talent. All I did was introduce the two of you - you're the one that arranged all of this, and everything. But what kind of interest are you hoping to get?

I guess it's alright to tell you, since you know my secret.

[She pulls her Sailor Change Star from her pocket.] This doesn't just give me powers. It also marks me as one of the Soldiers honor-bound to protect the ruler of my kingdom, my planet. Her name is Princess Kakyuu. [Seiya almost whispers her name in reverie.]

And she had to flee our enemy, to find something that could stop her. My fellows and I tracked her here, to Earth, but she still won't appear to us. [She does get a little sad and frustrated, but mainly at herself.] So we keep searching - hoping someone else has seen her in passing.

[ Lucy and Lyra both listened curiously, though Lucy looked more concerned at mention of the Princess fleeing an enemy. She might be hidden because it was too dangerous to show herself, but she could understand a little of how it might feel to be searching for someone who seemed to not want to be found.

Natsu and the other dragon slayers came to mind on that. ]

Princess Kakyuu... the image of a woman I've never seen surfaced while you were singing, back then - Lyra, you saw it too, right?

[ The celestial spirit nodded, looking serious, and Lucy glanced back towards Seiya. ]

Is.. was that the Princess you were referring to?

[Seiya is genuinely surprised that Lucy saw anything that clear.]

You could tell that it was a woman? That's amazing-

[She even smiles a little in embarrassment, but also in awe.] When I sing, regular girls don't tend to see anything at all, let alone something so vivid as the Princess herself. It's what we always want to happen, but it's rare.

[ Lucy quirked an eyebrow in surprise. ]

That happens every time you sing? [ Though the amazed response gets her to blush a little sheepishly, and she laughs. ]

That.. it must be because of how much you put of yourself into your song, and how much you wanted to see her?

[ Maaybe? ]

[Laughing, Seiya nods.] That's part of it, for sure. One time Taiki got worried it wouldn't work, and well... it didn't. If I don't care enough about the princess, it definitely wouldn't happen when I sang.

Still, there's another part of it, and I can't tell you exactly why... but the only other person I've known to see her for sure was Usagi.

Aaaaah. That's so cool, Seiya!

You two are amazing. Why didn't you tell me?

[She chuckles with embarrassment.] Sorry, I wanted to surprise you! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

More please? You've sung a lot, right?

Oh yes, in front of thousands of screaming fans and in small recording studios. If there's a popular song you really like, I might be able to practice it and even sing it a capella for you some time - or if I can find a guitar then I don't have to bother Lyra for the assist.

But I wanna hear the songs you wrote. I bet they're about amazing things.

What's kind of crazy is just how similar our songs are to this one Lyra wrote - that's what drew me to it in the first place.

But if you want to hear it, I'll sing it for you sometime - special acoustic set, of course.
