[ She makes a frustrated noise; clenches her fist, curls it in before releasing it. ]

[ Very concerning, that. ] It is said the means they capture us with does strange things to time.

I and the Three descended to Midgard to find you, where we were set upon by the Destroyer. [ He died. She can still recall the strange sensation of her heart stopping in her chest. Of being so consumed by terror that she could not move. ] You regained your power and defeated it, thereupon we returned to Asgard that you might stop Loki. In the midst of the confrontation, the Bifrost was shattered and he fell.

Mere days have passed since.

[ There's a frown that pulls at his lips, a crease in his brow. ]

Much time has passed for me, Sif. That is all long past. I have seen Loki on Midgard and battled him there for the planet.

[ There's a quiet pause before he continues, and if he knew he could private this thing, he likely would have. Instead his voice merely gets slightly quieter, remorseful but attempted at monotone and matter-of-factly. ]

The... Chitauri found him after he fell.

[ They thought him dead, but his mad lust for chaos only grows. It angers her, because she hears that grief in Thor's voice, and it has no place there.

She must control her own, though it is difficult. ]

What manner of being are these Chitauri, and how did you and he reach Midgard without aid of the Bifrost?

[ He gives a minute shake of his head, explaining in a serious sort of tone. ]

A savage race. They are not of Asgard or any world known. Finding my brother, they offered him a trade - the Earth for Odin's Tesseract. [ The second part said more offhand, just giving the technical detail ] When Loki made his presence upon Midgard known, my father summoned a great deal of dark energy to conjure me hence.

Then it is true -- the Tesseract is real? [ Legend speak of the immeasurable power the jewel of the Allfather's vault holds, and the idea of that in Loki's hands -- She still shudders at the eerie sound of the bridge shattering in her memory. ]

Yet you managed to retrieve it and him, you said.

I have seen it with my own eyes. Sif, it is a force of terrible power. [ and it needs to be locked far far away somewhere in Asgard where no one will touch it or remember that it exists. ]

Sif cannot see for her anger, but since his banishment Thor has had a clarity to him, a sense of wisdom, and he will know what course of action best to take. ]

His mind is poisoned. [ Said monotone, but as a simple side comment. He won't get into a discussion of the state of his brother over this phone thing. At a later time, when he can see Sif in person, perhaps, but not now. ]

And I am most grateful for it, my dear friend. As it sits, we have no means of return to Asgard - not yet. Our captors wish us assistance in their war. [ There's a slight cant of his head, dissatisfied with the situation, but the wisdom enough to know struggling against it as it is will only bring more issue down on them. ] We must comply until we have a means of securing a path home.

[ No, it's not a great time to get into that with him at the moment. But soon, sometime. ]

[ In all honesty, he might not actually mind that, at least it would be some improvement from the coldness he's gotten from him, but with that, he stuffs the netbook in a pocket (because he has no idea how to turn that thing off) and with some whooshing offscreen on Mjolnir being whirled around at his side, he's off ]

[ And sure enough, some twenty minutes later, Thor comes rocketing down and effs up the sidewalk in front of some building or another for the owner to find later and be pissed over. Whoops. Something to which Thor's pretty much oblivious to as he shoots Sif a welcoming grin. ]

[ When he arrives she's leaning against a wall, examining the knife she took from the Initiative's armory. The edge is impossibly sharp. When she hears him approach, she sheathes the knife in her book, stands and returns his smile. ]

Eons. Stars were born and died while I waited.

Empires rose and fell? Realms were born? The Allfather slept and woke and slept and woke?

[ He jokes as he approaches, tossing an arm around her shoulders an giving a hearty pat - just as strong as he'd give Volstagg before he steps back to survey the street in front of him. ]

[ She's long accustomed to Thor's particular variety of hugs; she slings an arm around his back in return before pulling away. ]

They meddle with the web of time here. [ He begins to explain, arms crossing over his chest ] Going back in attempts to change what is before them.

We have been brought hence in an attempt to secure our assistance in their endeavors and they hold us hostage until we do so.

Then they are fools. I do not need to be a sorcerer to know time is no child's toy to be trifled with.

[ She levels her gaze with his, and the worry there is clear. ]

It worries me that they would have the power to snatch not just one but three Asgardians and hold us prisoner. If the Allfather has such power to transport you to Midgard despite the Bifrost's current state, he should be able to retrieve you home. Unless... [ And now she is speaking her thoughts aloud as they occur to her, for Sif has never been one given to silent contemplation. And this thought is troubling. ]

Unless we are beyond his power. That, or he wishes us here, but would he not tell us so if that were the case?

Already their ripples in time make waves. The riots you see here are the result of such.

[ He glances around the streets, ears perking to the distant noise of the rabble. They're away from the majority of the fighting for now, and now Thor begins to walk, leading Sif towards the housing they'd been provided. As he walks, he's quiet for a moment, a hand going to rub along his jaw as he contemplates what Sif said. ]

There is purpose in all the Allfather does. Perhaps this is the case, but there is the simple truth that we cannot know. [ He pauses, glancing back to the building they'd each emerged from after being summoned to Exsilium ] We must... consider that there may be a power beyond the Allfather's control at work.

[ As she follows, she makes careful note of her surroundings: the size and shape of each building, the number of doors and windows, handholds, stairs, the breadth of streets and alleyways. Her ears, sharp as any immortal's, pick up the distant sounds of chaos. ] I hear them.

[ She bites the inside of her cheek, an open show of unease. Around Thor, it is easy to let her walls down.

Sif is a daughter of Asgard. She fought against tradition and propriety to claim her position, defied her father's will and the expectations of the masses. In her heart she knows not all of Asgard is right, but Asgard is a part of her, and who do gods worship but their king? Deeply troubling, the thought of a power beyond even the Allfather's.

Still. Sif was trained for this. ]

Then we are left to our own judgment. If their cause is truly just, we cannot deny these people our aid.
