Hello everyone,

My name is Flora, for those that might not know. It's nice to meet you. [Yeah her posts are tagged as such, but propriety etc etc] I know that there is a lot going on right now, so, if anyone needs anything--fruits, veggies, or other things--we could work out an...exchange perhaps? [She suddenly looks mildly uncomfortable, almost wincing at the word "exchange" in particular, but then she is smiling again, with gentle sincerity] If you don't have anything to offer, please don't worry about it, just try to pay it forward to someone else that might need help, if you can.

Secondly, Christmas is coming up, and other holidays too, it seems? We don't have them where I'm from, and while Christmas, at least, means the world to someone I know, I'm still learning about it, I suppose.

There is something I have been wondering, though?

[Flora's eyes sharpen with intellectual curiosity, and as she cradles her chin between her thumb and forefinger, it's obvious that the next words she's about to utter have been given the utmost, perhaps even reverent, consideration.]

Could someone please tell me more about Santa Claus? He sounds like a really powerful man with his Christmas magic.

Don't think I don't hear that that implication. And I don't know what you mean by hammer and saws, but I can guess that, too.

It rhymes with 'the law'! Or well, it did, until it became plural. Then it stopped. Isn't rhyming slang incredible? By inviting the soul of music into the heart of language, human beings can twist words on themselves. The artificial doubles—no, quadruples! And all so the police won't catch on!

By the way, I'm preparing my letter to Santa. What would you like me to ask him for on your behalf?

[Oh wow he could talk a lot about Santa. But man the last time he did, he got yelled at by Riku about world order, so now he's a bit more reluctant.]

I see. [A beat, and a frown.] Wouldn't the people who are trying to evade the police be the ones to you use that?

[Pretty sure that that is not at all a thing that is possible for him.

Oh wait, that gets her attention, though.]

Huh? You can write to him? Is he even in this dimension?

[He gives her a 'yes, obviously' look.] Of course.

[OMG BUT SHE DOESN'T KNOW ABOUT SANTA LETTERS? He brightens up.]

Of course you can. You must! You write down a list of all your Christmas wishes and leave it out with the food to help Santa and his reindeer along their way.

A few things. [Relatively.] Like...how does he manage to get everywhere he needs to--does he really go all over the world? Where does he live? Is he a sort of wizard? And if he is, where do his powers come from?

[She pinches the bridge of her nose. Of course.]

What kind of food do they like? And is there a limit on wishes? Doesn't he see all the children of the world?

Limiting wishes would just be cruel to children, don't you think? [He shakes his head, disappointed. But no let's talk about what you feed Santa.] First, you have to remember food for the reindeer. That's carrots and celery and the like. Then you have to remember to give Santa milk or whisky—not these days, of course, that would be illegal—and for his consumption, wafers and cookies. It's rude not to give someone something to drink with food, don't you think?

I was just trying to think of being fair! If Santa only has so much power, it wouldn't be very nice if some child missed out because another asked for a hundred things. [Wow don't you shake your disappointed head at her.]

Wait, why is whiskey illegal? Illegal where? [They're in Exsilium they don't really have laws.]

And I wouldn't say it's rude, but it's much better to have.

[no but he is disappointed] Don't you think Santa has the discretion needed to choose which wishes to grant and which to decline? My, Flora. It's as if you aren't even treating him like the adult he is. [respect Santa, Flora, omg]

Oh, where I'm from, it's illegal to sell alcohol. It's been a marvellous gift to the criminal world. I hadn't seen them all so happy in my life! But with all that ending soon, it will start to become very tough on them. [Christopher becomes Sad.] So many will lose their source of income—and there we are in the midst of the Great Depression, no less! It's like the government doesn't think about the needs of the people at all.

[DID SOMEONE SAY CHRISTMAS]

The commercialized Christmas is harmless [Still something he could do without tyvm] but the origin of the holiday celebrates the arrival of a figure who reinforced the rule of a tyrant with his teachings.

As for Santa Claus, he is an idealized version of a Saint who once lived by the teachings of former, known for his generosity. While the figure he was based upon did exist, Claus himself does not.

[Unless SMT one day introduces Demon Claus, in which case he'll totally exist.]

I recognise him as an adult! I just don't know how he works; how does he decide which wishes are granted and which aren't.

Why would they outlaw it at all? [Flora's not a criminal (NOT AT ALL), but she has broken rules (FOR GOOD REASONS), so she can see how that could get a little out of hand.

Still, it has to have been for a good reason, right?

Also Christopher can you stop reminding her you're a criminal for five minutes. Goodness.]

Oh, I wasn't paying attention. Something about starving children in the snow, wasn't it? [Blah blah who cares humans have silly ideas and the other Lamia don't like Christopher drinking anyway so he didn't pay attention]

He doesn't really wanna sit here and explain religion, so...]

The Tyrant is the primary figure of a religion who claims to be the one true God and calls for humanity to reject all others as false idols. His progeny descended to Earth in flesh and blood on Christmas day, spreading the word of his Father amongst the masses. That is the origin.

Over the years humanity has re-purposed the holiday to celebrate excess and decadence, so even those who reject God's teachings can involve themselves, but it retains it's so called "importance" to it's origins to many of the zealous, despite that.

As for Santa, he was a myth based upon a living figure who died. The only truth to his existence are the remains of Nicholas, wherever they may be buried.

[Most Demons are myths and exist anyway where he's from, but the myths usually spawn from the demons, not the other way around. That's his excuse.]
