[video] An Offer.
In my time here without my partner, I found myself with an incredible amount of free time and mental processing power to fill it. So, after learning the basics of knitting from Rose Lalonde, I then went on to knit a number of useful items for myself and experimental items for the sake of making them.
This means that I have a number of scarves, mittens, sweaters, socks, and other items that are going spare. They may be useful to anyone who wishes to return to the frozen Earth, as I do. So, I'm willing to trade the clothing I have made as well as my time for making custom clothing for a favor from any interested party. I still have quite a lot of yarn after taking down my spiderweb.
I value data over all else, so if you wish to take some of these items off my hands, you can do so by trading me some data. Books, computer data, stories about your life before coming to this world or your adventures after doing so. You can send me your stories privately on the network or tell them to me in person. I am willing to accept other items in trade as well, but I prefer data.
Thank you for your attention.

[Kanji could bang out adorable knit toys in a day, but that's Kanji]

I can knit very quickly, and data from the ground makes it clear that knitted items are likely not difficult to find there, and therefore their value is limited as barter items.
I have quite a lot of data about the rest of the Transports, but nothing that I cannot glean from observation. Most people don't speak about the most important incidents in their lives on a daily basis. Those are the most useful in determining exactly what people are likely to do.
no subject
[there's a thoughtful expression...]
So... Did you just want to get to know people? Or is there some technical thing that's totally flying over my head right now?
no subject
[He blinks.]
At home, I am connected to the heart of the Earth's memories, and can access any information about anyone on my Earth. But here, I only have access to my own Earth's memories, and not this Earth, and certainly not the Earths that all the transports come from. So I have to get my data the old-fashioned way if I want to be useful as a private detective along with my partner.
no subject
....
Wh-What? Whoa, that sounds like it'd be way too much for one person to go through! Isn't there millions of people on Earth? ... A Earth. The Earth? [he scratches his head, eyes clenched and obviously trying to envision it. Suffice to say, he's kinda impressed]
Oh. You're a private detective too? [smile] That's kinda awesome.
But uh... So what sort of information would you trade? [a laugh as he winks] Brace yourself though; I'm insanely boring.
no subject
Yes, but the information I have is not in my conscious mind at all times. I was reborn as the avatar of the Earth's memory, but have only accessed a small fraction of all the knowledge of the Earth. For instance, I know all there is to know about the moon, off the top of my head. There are a small sampling of things about the Earth that I do know by heart.
It's sorted as in a library, so I can access it as needed using keywords. That is how my partner and I solve crimes and stop monsters in our additional guise as the two-in-one Kamen Rider, W.
Any interesting anecdotes you might have about your life before or after arriving here. Though I believe you are new, as I have not seen you around the network or the moonbase very often.
no subject
Yeah, I just got here last month--
[suddenly, his eyes get super wide and his mouth drops open because oh my god? Oh my god?! OH MY GOD?!!??!?
let the fanboying commence]You're a Kamen Rider??!?!??!
no subject
[He's not unaccustomed to adulation for his heroics, but he's never really felt any particular feeling about it. It's just something that he's had to do since he met Shotaro, for one reason or another.]
Are you familiar with Kamen Riders? I believe there are two more among the transports, though they must be from sometime in my world's future, as I'm not personally familiar with them.
no subject
Kamen Riders
He's talking to a Kamen Rider
The video actually turns off for a moment so Yosuke can (try to) compose himself but it turns on before he's even actually ready. He's just really excited but also self-conscious as hell. Awkward fanboy... away!]
S-sorry, I hit the wrong button back there. But really, that's awesome, I mean... I've always been a fan, but I never thought I'd get the chance to talk to- oh man haha. [deep breath] Yeah, I just...
This is so cool though. So uh... About that trade...
[this scarf is going to be his most prized possession, ngl]
no subject
No worries, Yosuke Hanamura, I'm flattered. Of late, he and I haven't transformed except to fight zombies and the like. And back at home, we cleared out most of the monster problem from our city, though issues do crop up from time to time.
I should be able to have a fine scarf made for you in no time. Tell me about yourself, and that will be enough for a trade.
no subject
Really? That's awesome! [he's practically sparkling
aaah he used my naaaame aaaaAAAAAA... and has apparently forgotten himself;] Saving the world and being heroes, oh man, you guys were totally my role models growing up and I can't believe I'm actually talking to you right now thisissocool.[oh, right, talking about himself. This part he's not so stoked about]
... R-Right! About myself... Hmm... [he crosses his arms in front of him, with one hand raised to his chin as he thinks. oh crap, this was going to be so embarrassing and he's already made himself look like a huge loser but nnngh]
Well... I moved out of the city I grew up in a year ago, and it was kinda a pain to get adjusted- [his ears get redder as he talks before he shakes his head] God, it's kinda weird talking about that on a public board like this. So uh... Could we meet up or something?
[he's honest though! putting his super lame history on a public board was way more embarrassing than he can handle... But this was also a chance to meet a kamen rider in person and asdlkgjasdflkdsag;la]
[u may switch to action at ur leisure]
We may have saved the world, but all I care about is keeping one city safe. Fuuto. That is my home. If the world were destroyed, so would Fuuto be. That's why, really. Shotaro and I are the guardians of that city. But if you still consider us role models, I am fine with that. I can be quite selfish, though.
[He begins listening, but Yosuke soon cuts himself off.]
That's amenable to me. You can come to Shotaro and my dormitory, room 157, at your earliest convenience.
no subject
[that said, ohmygooooooooooooooooood starry eyed, Yosuke looks like he'd jump through the screen if he could... ahem]
Is that all right? I mean, I don't want to intrude or anything.
[he means he wants to go now because omg omgomgomg]
no subject
[Shotaro can only keep up his cool image for so long, after all.]
No, not at all. I am currently alone in our quarters. Shotaro is off having dinner. I'm free.
--> action
Okay then. Room 157, yeah? I'll be right there!
[and the video turns off as Yosuke scrambles to get ready. Which didn't mean much more than get his shoes on before zipping out of his dorm room and towards 157. If it took a little longer than it should have, it was because Yosuke got lost and most definitely not because he had to keep stopping to pinch himself. Oh man oh man oh man he was so not ready for this on multiple levels but oh maaaaaaaaan he was going to meet a Kamen Rider.
Eventually though, Yosuke does make it to 157 and gives the door a couple of oddly timid knocks. He's not about to back out but it didn't mean he wasn't going to be embarrassed as hell telling a Kamen Rider (oh my god) about his lame history. His super lame history, especially without the bit about the TV World... Hella lame]
Hello...? It's Hanamura.
action
Come in, Yosuke Hanamura. It is cramped, as you know, but feel free to seat yourself anywhere you wish.
[However lame Yosuke thinks his history is, it's another piece of the puzzle that is the social society here among the Transports. Of course, he would always like to hear something fascinating about another world, like its magic or its dangers. But regular everyday stuff is fun, too. Many of the books he read in his own library were something like that.]
no subject
Hey...! And uh... Just 'Yosuke' is fine. Calling me by my full name makes me feel like I'm in trouble or something.
So uh... [he looks around before taking a seat on a spare chair(?) or surface. Yosuke takes a moment to collect himself, but oh godohgod okay calm down. whoooo he could ask for an autograph later and aaaaah this guy was pretty good at knitting? He was going at Kanji speed, it's amazing, this guy's amazing, man he was sitting with a Kamen Rider-
And then the embarrassment of talking about his life comes back. Wow, what a downer]
I guess... [he scratches his cheek, before pulling his legs up to sit Indian-style] I guess I'll just continue from before, right? Uh... [he cocks his head to one side]
Actually, I moved two years ago. [laugh] Last year passed by so fast! I can't believe it actually happened but I've got the friends and memories and annoying freeloading bear to prove it. [he says Teddie's description with fondness, even if the words themselves were negative] But things kinda sucked when I first moved to Inaba. You'd think being a city kid in a small town would make you super popular but, like, half the town hated my guts? Over something I couldn't even control. Can you believe it?
... Aww man, telling this is super awkward. [awkward laugh because he wanted to make a good impression but found it really hard to bring himself to lie to his hero oh my god] I must sound like a total loser.
no subject
[He watches Yosuke take a seat on the nearby chair and continues to knit apace.]
You live with a bear? What was it that you couldn't control?
[He shakes his head, smiling.]
Not at all, I have spent my life being vilified for something I could not control. The very thing that has allowed me to become a Kamen Rider at all. People are often afraid of things they don't understand.
no subject
And I guess he's not really a bear, it's just that he was wearing a bear suit the first time we met and he keeps making these stupid bear puns. His name's Teddie too, so it just kinda stuck.
...
[he looks aside sheepishly because alkgsdfalksdj doki doki Kamen Rider is listening to me aaaaaaah] Nah, man, when you're going up against this huge company, it's a lot easier to take it out on some poor high school kid.
[he shrugs and shakes his head]
I moved to Inaba - that's a small town by the way - because my parents are managers at this supermarket chain called 'Junes' and dad got a promotion to the general manager. So off we went to this small town. Where Junes' prices basically undercut a lot of the stuff in the existing shopping district but people still came to buy stuff from Junes anyway? I don't know...
[he stops even though that's clearly not the end of the story. Feeling self conscious? Wondering if his hero thinks he's annoying? (he'd just curl up and be useless for a couple of days if that happened) Then pulls his knees up and stares at the scarf taking shape]
... Hey, you're pretty good at that!
no subject
I see. A bear suit, you say? How fascinating. I wonder why...
[He calls to mind his own dog suit for a moment, and then raises his eyebrows to show that he's still listening.]
I see. Such struggles are not unfamiliar to me. I think you're right. It's easier to attack you, even though you're not the problem, because you're weaker than they. It is difficult to say what is the right path.
[He tilts his head.]
Most people find it easier to excuse their own actions than other people's. They find as many excuses as they need to be able to do as they wish, but condemn others for the same.
[He pauses, looking at the scarf rapidly taking shape.]
Well, it is a very simple pattern. I should be finished in less than an hour. Tell me, is that how you left things? Friendless in a new town?
no subject
[oh my god, Philip, Yosuke's just full of appreciation right now because aaaaaaah AAAAAAAAH wow suddenly reminded of aibou... A he deflates a little at the thought but immediately jumps up again when he's asked.
There's a wide eyed look that's both embarrassed and offended. Wow no, he's not that much of a loser okay]
No! Well... [he bites his lip] The first year was kinda awkward. Didn't really make friends - being the village scapegoat does that, y'know - but that's changed! Like I said, I moved a couple of years ago, but the last year went by super fast. I actually managed to make friends, we solved a crime and... [extremely fondly;] I don't think I would have been able to do any of that without my partner though.
[he brightens up because FFFFFFFF talk for days about his best friend]
He's really amazing! Like, he just moved into town but he decided to stop and help this loser kid out of a trash can anyway? And then we went to go do some investigation things and he's also so cool and suave and awesome. Like... Super diligent, really smart - he aced all the exams, all of them?! - he's understanding and brave and... Yeah, I'd be dead meat without him. Up the Samegawa without a paddle even.
no subject
It sounds as if you found the one person you needed to find. That is what I found in Shotaro. We solve crimes as well. Together.
[He smiles at Yosuke, not willing to shy away from equating their two partnerships, even if Yosuke and his friend were not the same type of partner as him and Shotaro.]
He sounds like he has a good heart. Shotaro is like that too.
[Actually, if his partner is the smart one, then Yosuke is more like Shotaro... But it seems like neither of them is as awful as Philip was at the start.]
Of the two of us, Shotaro is the hero. I was a little devil before he met me. So I understand well your feelings. I'm sure you miss him. I was at a loss before Shotaro arrived.
no subject
[idk Philip, no matter how many times Yosuke says 'no homo' it's still pretty gay.
o-omitted Magician Romance option sob][Yosuke listens to Philip talk without interrupting. But he nods, the adulation tempered a bit by the fact that... ah, it was a little like with him and their leader, huh?]
... Yeah. I mean, he moved back to the city at the end of last school year, so it's not like... We could still text and call each other, so it's no big, but it's still... [he shifts his sitting position to pull his knees up]
So what did you do while you were waiting for Shotaro-san to show up?
no subject
Ah, I see. That must be somewhat lonesome.
[He looks a bit uncomfortable. He hadn't planned on talking about himself, but... What harm could it do, really?]
As I said, I value data. For the most part, while at home, I can access all the data I will ever need through my connection to the Earth's memories. But here on the moon, that connection is severed, and I cannot enter the Gaia Library, and read the Earth's memories. That is difficult enough. But without Shotaro to act as a stabilizing influence, I reverted somewhat.
[He sighs.]
After reading the entire archives of the network as well as most of the AI's collected archives, I used yarn to build a massive spider's web in my room, and then retreated into the ventilation system. I gathered data by eavesdropping and spying on people.
[He begins to add a zigzag pattern to the scarf, perhaps as a way to distract himself as he speaks.]
I have never been apart from Shotaro for long, ever since we met. Though he was separated from me.
no subject
[Yosuke actually jumps when he notices his conversation partner's discomfort. Oh, he hadn't meant to- oh man, he didn't think that sort of question would make the other feel uncomfortable shit he screwed up now what does he do?
... Other than listen attentively, because anything else would be super rude]
The... Vents? I mean, I could see why but... Man. [he leans forward to put his hands on his legs] Sorry. That- Uh... [he shakes his head] I didn't mean-
Sorry. I guess.
[he suddenly leans back] Getting dragged here is kinda weird, huh? Get separated from your friends, find yourself in a different world, fighting a war... Man, talk about getting in way over our heads.
Wow I'm a shit.
[Philip points out, his voice as empathetic as he can manage to make it.]
Don't worry about me, I am much better now. Things were very difficult. Now that we are able to access the Earth, and my partner is here, I will be fine.
And I have experience fighting evil. But there are many things I can do without fighting. The same, I'm sure, applies to you.
It's okay, life happens. ;v;
[he looks at Philip again, then tries to sound cheerful despite not quite feeling it. If Yosuke was good at anything, it was putting on airs]
But hey, we're all in this together right? [he gives the cheesiest grin he could manage]
And if your partner showed up, then who's to say that mine won't either? Then we could team up and be unstoppable!
[he hooks his hands on his ankles and starts rocking back and forward, cheesy grin still in place] Or something. With all of us here, one of us is bound to find a solution to this, right?
no subject
Instead of just barging into people's rooms without notice?
Good to know
And congratulations
It'd be nice if you picked up a hobby a little faster next time, though.
no subject
no subject
What are you implying
I don't really need your charity, you know
Staying warm is something I can handle on my own just fine
[ a pause, then a second message: ]
And I'm not going down there anyway
no subject
Aren't you? I suppose if I had a choice, I might decide to stay on the moonbase myself. There are a number of opportunities for data collection I haven't taken. But the prospects on Earth are much better, not to mention I will have access to the library.
no subject
Put everything in an airlock and open the door.
I don't really know if there's any favors I would want from you.
From what I've heard everything down there is nothing short of miserable
Not that it isn't so on the moonbase
But
Pardon me if I don't see the same appeal you seem to
no subject
Well, think about this. Think about a resource that is as naturally accessible to you as your hand, something that you consider essentially a part of your brain... And then think of that resource disappearing.
I'm eager to get access back.
no subject
It sounds
Inconvenient
Having to be tied to a place like that
Almost not even worth the usefulness
[ after an extended delay, he sends a second message as well. ]
If you're that insistent
I'll take something
One thing.
Your choice.
no subject
Hmmm... How about a scarf? They are very useful no matter the weather... And I have several in colors that would match your complexion well. I will set aside a burgundy with black stripes for you.
Or I could deliver it to you?
