[Lea's voice is quiet, strained. Anyone who knows him can tell there's something really wrong that he's trying not to let show--that's why this is audio only.]

So I have a question. Whenever we get back to earth and all... would, ah... would anyone be interested in making a memorial of some sort? I mean I know that the people who come and go here aren't necessarily dead, but. Well, enough of them don't come back that it kinda seems that way.

I just think it'd be kinda nice to have something to remember them by.

Memories are all some people have, after all.

I know someone talked about it the last time we were on Earth. I'm not sure if it ever happened there or not.

[But it would've been destroyed with the bombs if it did.]

Still, a new one would be nice.

[Yeah, anything that was there would have been destroyed, and he's not sure how much things might change if they manage to undo what the UE did.]

Maybe I can ask around and see what ideas were talked about.

Well I don't wanna force anybody to work on it. I can't really think of any reason not to want one, either, but I don't expect everybody to help or whatever.

I, ah... hate to be the one to break the news, champ, but... Xion's gone home. [A pause, and he clears his throat.] I dunno how close you guys were, but. [Closer than the kid realizes, honestly; Lea isn't sure Sora even knows who Xion really is, but that isn't something he wants to get into now.]

[She doesn't truly understand memorials, what stones and markers do to keep the memory alive, but there is no one to blame for it, Lenalee knows quite well why the names important to her were never permitted to become engraved.]

I always thought that so long as you remembered them, the sort of life they led and the things they did, that was all you could do.

Remembering's nice, but. Memories aren't infallible. They fade, get rusty... they can even be tampered with.

I wouldn't mind having a backup.

It might be easier to keep a list.

With how often we change the past, the memorial might disappear any time we go on a mission.

I don't really quite understand how the time travel all works, to be honest. We come and go, we change things, but I don't think I've ever seen a building just suddenly disappear or anything.

A book or something might not be a bad idea though.

Just a while ago, I was talking to someone about memorials.

[She pauses, remembering now just the people who died, but also those who made their mark in Exsilium, who already left home. People like Ranka, for example.]

I said I'd help out with it. The people who are gone... they may not be dead, but they're just as important.

Yeah, definitely. Some people don't have much to go back to, at that, so I'm not sure it's much better than-- [He cuts himself off, shaking his head quickly.] Any help, though... I'd appreciate that.

... Maybe the Initiative could help us work one to put onto the tablets, something that could be easy for others to add too whenever they needed.

Hey, that's kind of a good idea. Like a database for the people who've gone home? People could share stories and stuff, or just talk about what those people meant to them. Be easier and less potentially creepy for anyone who comes back than an actual physical memorial, I think.

Memories are important to us all, though their importance might not be realized by everyone.

I think a lot of people take memories for granted; they're a lot more fragile than anybody realizes.

That's-- that's a really good idea. For some people, this is the only life they have. Even if they go away and come back, they might not be the same.

[He pauses.]

If they were here right now... I'm sure they would be really happy that someone is thinking of them.

Yeah; I've been lucky and the people I know who have come back remembered having been here, but I know that isn't always the case. But even if some people aren't here anymore, they still left a mark, so I guess I just wanna... show that somehow.

[For half an instant he almost mistakes the voice for Riku's and is confused, but... no, there's definitely something different about the timbre. He can tell them apart at a glance easily enough, now he just needs to make sure he memorizes the differences in their voices. Virgil isn't Riku any more than Xion was Sora, and he knows that now.]
