( As desirable as hiding away in his room forever currently sounds, after over a week on the moon base, restlessness has hit Edgeworth hard. It is time to find answers to the questions that had been weighing heavily on his mind. Or, at least, the answer to one question in particular. )

It appears that much has changed since I was here last. ( He twitches slightly at that massive understatement, but reacquainting himself with his current situation had been troublesome, at best. ) I've kept myself abreast of recent events through the use of the network, but there is just one matter which I wish to enquire about further.

( He swallows, although his cravat obscures the nervous bobbing of his Adam's apple for the most part. Despite doing his best to keep his expression neutral, there is a decided tone of unease to his voice. )

If anyone knows anything regarding the whereabouts of my Shiba Inu, Pess, after ... my disappearance this past May, do let me know immediately.

Incredibly certain. You don't get a lot of dogs out in Exsilium and she was super loyal to you so she wouldn't've gone far. I looked around for a few days and there wasn't any signs of her. I even asked for a search party you know?

She wasn't in the city after Franziska left it.

( Edgeworth's tone shifts to something more incredulous. )

You... asked for a search party.

Asked some people. Did what I knew how to do confirm you really were gone, you know? You didn't come in to work for a while and your tablet was disconnected. I made sure people knew.

I had no intention of returning to work regardless. ( A pause, but then he must admit: ) In any case, the disconnected tablet would've been... conclusive.

Conclusive evidence. Case closed. Kept an eye on the dog, and we haven't seen her either. I think she's fine.

You know, to be honest. I was kind of hoping you didn't get brought back here.

( That's a point that Edgeworth actually agrees upon, so Phoenix's astute observation simply earns him a grumpy 'hmph' at first. )

I hardly wanted to return.

Well, let's be honest. Whenever you wanted something, Edgeworth, you never got it. It's your fate.

Maya's forgotten things. She has hardly any idea what's going on because everything she knew about Exsilium got reset to nothing late September. Help me keep an eye on her.

( A barbed jab, designed to do its utmost to keep Phoenix away from him (not that'd it work) rests on the tip of Edgeworth tongue, but the topic of Maya is ... concerning, to say the least, so he swallows the instinctive, irrational distaste and instead inquiries: )

Did she... disappear from this place as well?

In a way, yes.

It was September. A bunch of Transports with powers got kidnapped by the United Earth and there was a rescue mission to get them back. She was one of them, and when we found her, she didn't remember anything about Exsilium like she'd never been here before.

So it's possible that the United Earth are the ones responsible for disrupting her memory.

You go it. Plus I heard that the people who went to be distractions during the battle found people fighting with the powers of the Transports that got kidnapped.

So it's kind of nuts. I know I picked on you a few times the last time you were here, but I want to agree on the fact that we can work together.

( There's an elongated pause and Edgeworth swears he can hear the beat of his own heart. Fortunately, it's ludicrous to even think that Wright can hear it over the network so he steadies himself, takes a deep breath and says: )

I am... unsure if that would be for the best.
