It was, once. I'm determined to see I can always protect people, but I'm not sure I can be a hero, anymore.

I've learned that in order for there to be justice, much of it must be dark. Death isn't something that can be avoided and pain even less so.

But, I've at least found that it's better if I shoulder such things, myself--so those who can live peacefully are able to do so.

Correct. Such an observation comes hard by many people. Their ignorance destroys lives more than that which comes by casualty in war.

That is it, is it not? You cannot have informed peace, you cannot have peace without violence or action or lies. Peace, as a truth, does not exist.

For the regular civilian trying to live their life, sure. Yet those in power who are ignorant and misinformed, it is dangerous.

I can't weigh politicians, sir. I've never heard of a time of war or peace in which they were ever truly troubled.
