[ text ] ☠ third

There is something about this world that I still have trouble understanding. Those who are capable of using magic from other worlds are, for the most part, perfectly capable of using it here, with a few exceptions. And yet, the natives of this world don't seem to use magic, themselves. They instead rely upon science, and technology.

Does this mean that magic exists within this world, but humans here are simply not interested in learning more about it, or even attempting to discover it?

Right, sorry. This is the first time I've heard of any other worlds even using spirits the way my world did, or in a similar fashion anyway.

To put it simply, humans don't actually possess magical abilities of their own, but what we do possess is mana. By giving the spirits our mana they lend us their powers to perform various skills, keep our machines running and even keep our streets lamps lit. The humans of my world couldn't survive without the power of the spirits, so the fact that there are worlds out that that seem to be able to exist without them is pretty incredible.

I'm not entirely sure the arrangement started, or if it was really something like a verbal agreement. It's been that way since long before I was born.
