There is something about this world that I still have trouble understanding. Those who are capable of using magic from other worlds are, for the most part, perfectly capable of using it here, with a few exceptions. And yet, the natives of this world don't seem to use magic, themselves. They instead rely upon science, and technology.

Does this mean that magic exists within this world, but humans here are simply not interested in learning more about it, or even attempting to discover it?

It could have to do with where those of us with magic draw our energies from.

My magic doesn't require an external source, but it is very complicated to explain.

Yes. Most of my magic draws energy from nature. But I am also able to use my own energies to cast magic, as well.

What kind of magic is that?

Magic is classified into systems in my world; my primary magic is known as the Elven system, while the other is known as the Human system.

And one of the key differences is where the magic originates?

That is correct.

Are there any others?

[hyanaimne]

Dozens. Dwarves have their own system, for example. There is a system of Holy magic, but the name differs depending on the creature using it. Dark magic, as well—and the systems themselves are restricted by creature, as well.

I see... and can any of them protect against other, more dangerous forms of magic? Such as my own Death Magic?

Yes and no. It depends on what your magic would be considered in mine, I suppose. Dark magic?

If I may ask, where do you draw your magic from?

Myself. It comes from my own body.

I see. I would think it could be protected against, then.

There are ways within my world, yes. But they aren't fullproof.

Admittedly, neither is my magic, nor my world's.
