( there's a slight sound of rustling after the feed clicks on, as oz makes himself more comfortable on a seat in the observatory. why he's there late at night — night by circadian rhythms, anyway, simulated nights on the moon — is anyone's guess, or maybe it's obvious enough. in any case, when he speaks up a moment later, he sounds to be in a good enough mood. )
What's your favorite story? Scary ones are probably best for late at night, but what I really want to hear about are everyone's favorites. For instance, something about a princess and a dragon, or maybe a mystery with a twist ending, or something out of history....ah, if you make it up or adapt it from a book, that's fine too! Or even if it's a real one that's happened to someone you know, ( and a light laugh ) — don't worry, I don't tell anyone!
But it's rude to ask without giving my own preference, right? I can start with mine, if anyone wants.
( he'll tell people about holy knight. all about it!!!! don't ask him about it. )

Well, I guess storytelling is a good remedy for that. [ And a soothing, familiar hobby, besides. But those are his own biases. ] It's not quite the same through a machine, though.

That's a good point. Stories are best told in person, aren't they? Unless they're written already.

The observatory?

( theatrically, and it's funny because that's probably the area of the base he hates the most. )
--> action
[ The feed cuts out after that, and true to his word, he pads his way into the observatory a few minutes later. Normally he probably wouldn't, but Rosette's awake anyway and there's little hope that he'll actually be getting a decent night's rest. (Never does, these days.) Besides, voices are good at chasing unwelcome thoughts away. It's why he'd been listening to the network in the first place.
He pauses long enough to eye the clear view of the stars, utterly unable not to, before turning to Oz. ]
Nice weather tonight. [ So wry it hurts ] Though I imagine there are more comfortable places to sit around than right here.

he'll find oz in one of the chairs, turned away from the screens that give the observatory its name; he doesn't take much notice of them at all in fact, looking up from his tablet as he hears chrono's approach. )
The cafeteria's strange-looking when it's empty! ( as if that's something he'd really be bothered by. ) And there aren't that many places to sit. I didn't want to disturb Caesar or Lenalee.
