voice; forward dated to past midnight (action open to anyone around?)

( there's a slight sound of rustling after the feed clicks on, as oz makes himself more comfortable on a seat in the observatory. why he's there late at night — night by circadian rhythms, anyway, simulated nights on the moon — is anyone's guess, or maybe it's obvious enough. in any case, when he speaks up a moment later, he sounds to be in a good enough mood. )

What's your favorite story? Scary ones are probably best for late at night, but what I really want to hear about are everyone's favorites. For instance, something about a princess and a dragon, or maybe a mystery with a twist ending, or something out of history....ah, if you make it up or adapt it from a book, that's fine too! Or even if it's a real one that's happened to someone you know, ( and a light laugh ) — don't worry, I don't tell anyone!

But it's rude to ask without giving my own preference, right? I can start with mine, if anyone wants.

( he'll tell people about holy knight. all about it!!!! don't ask him about it. )

all right! I'll tell you them. i'll do rapunzel first.

once there was an old couple who tried for years and years to have a child. when she finally got pregnant, they were so happy. the husband wanted to do anything for his wife. she got cravings for a rapunzel plant, it's like spinach i guess, that only grew in a witch's garden. even though the husband knew it was dangerous, his wife wouldn't eat until she had it. so he started to sneak into the witch's garden at night and stole the rapunzel. one night, though, the witch caught him. so he begged for his life and she promised to let him have the rapunzel in exchange for the child. he was so desperate that he agreed.

when the child was born, the witch named her rapunzel and raised her as her own daughter. on her twelfth birthday, the witch realised rapunzel was growing into a beautiful girl with hair that grew and grew and locked her away in a tower with no stairs or doors. the only way in and out was a window. everyday the witch came to visit rapunzel and called to her "rapunzel rapunzel let down your hair" and so rapunzel would throw her long braided hair down so the witch could climb up.

this went on for years until one day, a prince riding through the forest heard rapunzel's beautiful singing. he came to visit her and so, whenever the witch had left, the prince would come to her. they fell in love and he asked her to marry him, but she could never leave the tower and the witch. but they didn't know the witch was watching. as punishment the witch cut rapunzel's hair and threw her into the woods. then, when the prince visited again, the witch used rapunzel's hair to lure him up. then she threw him out the window into a thorny bush. the prince was wounded and blind but all he could think about was finding rapunzel.

it was years. he wandered everywhere looking for her. but then one day as he wandered the woods he heard her singing. rapunzel was living in a little cabin she built in the woods. he found her and the magic she learned from the witch healed his blindness. the two were married at last and lived happily together.
