I'm guessing this is probably the first time a bunch of you have ever traveled through space. Not as special as you would've thought, right?

Maybe in another couple hundred years we'll actually have a ship that can make it to another planet.

A lot can change in a couple hundred years. But there's no use wishing for things we're can't have and aren't gonna get any time soon.

[Even if he would really, really like to be able to get back into space...but it doesn't surprise him that, what with "AI taking over" in the backstory here, nobody got out there. And he doesn't want to be here another couple hundred years (he isn't even going to live that long, ok).]

Yes, what could possibly go wrong? Apart from breaking the timeline and maybe the universe if you're not careful. It's a great feeling to have such a wonderful option open as the best possible course.

I've had a nutty time-terrorist slash hero from a thousand years in the future trying to fuck around with the events I was actively trying to participate in, and got myself dragged through a variety of realities trying to fix all the ways a time error that could shatter the universe, so.
