Captain's Log; 00.3 (text)

I've got a hypothetical situation for you. It's relevant to our current predicament.

If you were married to some idiotic heroic type, the type that would say run into the arms of a nuke in a desperate attempt to save a dying nation, but the benevolent Initiative resurrected them, are you still a widower?

More importantly, if they didn't leave a will, do I still get all of their stuff?

Remember, this is all hypothetical. Nobody died. I think.

...Wait you're married? To whom? You haven't said anything about that.

[They share an apartment shouldn't she have some inkling of this?]
pilot: (you keep using that word.)

[personal profile] pilot 2013-09-23 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
One, you really need to rethink your definition of private. Two, stop telling people we're married.

[ the handsome part is acceptable. please mention that more. ]

Mayhap the better question is if the wife would welcome back a man she has already mourned, who died a heroic but needless death.

[He raises his eyebrow.]

You the widower to be or the one who's doin' the widowing?

Well, hypothetically speaking, death would make the marriage void, even if they were brought back to life later on.

If your spouse is dead, there's nothing really stopping you from taking their stuff.

... Were you in this marriage only to take their belonging in the end?

I think it's up to you to decide.

Though if you decided to remain a widower and collect their assets, at the very least wear black for the appropriate length of time to avoid looking tasteless.

You left out the most important part. What are your feelings on this? Hypotheticical you.

[Spelling is not his strong point.]

It seems to me like most ppl would want to be happy their spouse was back and just move on, but in a way they were still widowed. So. IDK. I don't think that's something a crowd of strangers can decide on. Marriage is so personal.

I think there are extenuating circumstances for resurrection. Otherwise how would you get anything done once you'd returned from the dead? You'd have to start all over.
