one ➳ video.
[ allison's decided to record this from the rooftop of one of the slightly shorter and less damaged buildings because why not; especially when the air is crisp and cold and helpful in clearing a troubled head. she's brushing back a stray piece of hair when she turns on the video, before using both hands to steady the tablet currently balanced on her knees. though she looks calm, there definitely seems to be a heaviness in her posture — like she's only just taken a moment to relax and let the good and bad of the situation sink in. the latter, it seems, is what's troubling her today. ]
Hi. [ a half-smile ]
I haven't been here too long, so I'm not so good at this. But how do you even begin to stop thinking and worrying about everything back home? Or at least about people. Family.
[ because the realization had been that her dad's alone now. or he's with gerard, which might actually be worse. she knows he's capable of taking care of himself, but she also hadn't exactly left at the best of times either. her tone turns more inquisitive, more determined as her brain tries to grasp at ideas of what she could do. ]
I know trying to be sent back is trouble, but if there's ways to let us travel, shouldn't there be some way for us to leave something? A note, a memento, or something to let people know we're okay.
[ if she could, she's sure he'd find it. she knows it'd probably make things too easy, but a girl can dream, can't she? the silence begins to stretch on too long and allison figures it's time to buck up and at least stop broadcasting her sullenness, so she just adds: ]
Thanks. [ and a shake of her head before the feed's switched off. ]
[ ooc: oops forgot to add that feel free to also find her outside! ]

( She tilts her head, though. Gotham seems sort of uh, singular. ) My city isn't all that familiar to a lot of people here, though. Gotham - do you know it? Dark, gloomy. Home to a disproportionate number of grotesques.
( A beat. Dryly: ) And then there's all the ugly statues.
( ha ha ha no Helena don't try to make jokes, that's Dinah's area. )
Neither to I, but I err on the side of caution. ( And she taps her mask. Vigilante, after all. ) Maybe just sleep with someone keeping watch.
no subject
I didn't know about Gotham, but I did talk to someone else from there. St — Batgirl? I think that's what she called herself. [ she isn't sure about these secret identity things!! she waits to see if helena recognizes the name because hadn't steph said there were others like her here? vigilantes.
it'd explain the get-up at least. possibly even the crossbow. ]
And if I'm the only person I trust, doesn't that mean I'll just be up anyways?

She's very good. ( Stephanie doesn't need Helena to vouch for her, but it's true. A beat, to clarify: ) We work together.
( Which means a lot to Helena, at least, when she'd gone solo for so long. They work well together, understand each other the way that some of the others just can't. Also it looks awesome with all that purple in one place, let's be honest.
A slow smile. Yes, good. Allison can stay. Shrugging, ) Coffee is a girl's best friend. ( And, because she just sort of up and loomed at this person, she nods to a spot of roof closer to Allison. ) Mind if I join you?
no subject
Did you guys decide to do this together, or [ were there just a lot of masked people running around ] was it something else?
[ because working together obviously means they must have a good relationship right? she briefly imagines what it'd be like if she and lydia donned a cape and costume, but the thought seems to incredulous and she drops it with a small smile. ]
Yeah, sorry. I should've moved over earlier. [ she scoots to make room, shoving her jacket and tablet to one side. ] I'm Allison.

( Not quite sharp, but guarded; this was a newcomer, yes, thrown for good reason, yes, and Stephanie had been comfortable enough to give Allison her actual name, but then, she wasn't keeping up the guard she used to. Huntress has never exactly had a reputation for being friendly, but certain factors are in Allison's favor, here. A little less... harshly: ) I just wanted an excuse to wear more purple.
This isn't exactly made for relaxing. Learning not to sit on the cape took forever. ( But then, sitting on a roof isn't relaxing for everyone. ) Huntress.

[ she smiles politely, looks at the liberal amounts of purple on the costume, and just nods in response. ] It's a nice color on you. [ and doesn't stand out too much?? ]
Can I ask what's the point of the cape? [ she's all set to hear that Huntress can fly, or something similar, for the record. also she takes a second to go over the name - the other identity she'd been given - in her head. huntress definitely sounds like a name she might consider herself, given her own side pursuits. ]

( It's hard to miss her frown, though. Stephanie shouldn't be in a warzone, Dick Grayson should not be in a war zone. Not yet, not when he's so young. Jaime wasn't from Gotham, but he shouldn't be here, either. The compliment to the color is lost as she twists it around. How long would it be until it jerked the wrong kind of person from Gotham, the kind that would do all kinds of damage?
The twist of her thoughts brings her words out more harshly: ) Thinking of getting one?
( She's not the nice one. )
no subject
[ she's misunderstanding the harshness as one directed at the cape question and her eyebrows furrow in confusion. she figures she can shrug it off though, since they are essentially strangers and it'd be ridiculous to expect everyone to be openly friendly ( she knows she hadn't been initially ) ]
If the Initiative does pick people for a reason, I suppose it might as well be that one.
no subject
( Her distrust of political bodies goes beyond the idea of justice. Mouth cutting a harsh line, she looks back to Allison. )
They pick up kids, too. ( Though she'd tempted to put Allison in that same category, it must be said - she's still tempted to categorise Stephanie that way. They're too young for this. ) I'd love to see their reasoning for that.
( tldr: grump grump grump )
no subject
However noble their reasons might be, I just can't shake the feeling that there has to be something more to it than this. [ things couldn't always be so upfront right? or were things only a shrouded mystery in beacon hills ]
no subject
( Kid has a decent head on her shoulders, it seems like. )
What have you heard about them since you got here?
( Interested, curious. )
no subject
[ information gathering is a bit tougher when all she's relying on at the moment are other transports' opinions. ]
They haven't exactly got a solid plan besides sending us back in time — which seems to be working? I've just never heard of anything like it.
no subject
( Though her tone is suggesting not to put all her faith in that, either. She likes that at least Allison isn't taking everything as definite truth. )
Seems to be. ( She's still not sold. ) Go through the network as much as you can. You can pick up some interesting bits and pieces.
( About recent events, the kind of people around here. And, she's also holding out a piece of card for Allison to take, blank side up. It's just a contact number on the other side, nothing else. )
no subject
[ so is watching the network. allison's no super genius or renowned detective, but she wants to be as informed as she can here.
after a moment's pause, she takes the card to examine the number written on the other side, wordlessly trying to ask the obvious — essentially the reason behind huntress offering such a thing to her. ]
sometimes i look at my own keywords and laugh
( Nodding to the card. ) Things can get a little lively, around here. If you need to you can contact me.
( She's standing, now, drawing herself up to her full height, and maybe the effect of the cape is a little more evident than when she was just sitting. Looming, indeed. )
lmfao i thought it was her hair at first in the icon till i saw the ears
[ the trouble part, she means. huntress definitely seems like an interesting, if a little terrifying person, and she has no problem with hanging onto that card for later. ]
But I will. Thanks.
[ the looming is admittedly impressive, but it makes allison feel like she should stand up as well, if only to not hurt her neck trying to look up at the older woman. she quickly does so while brushing off her coat. ( it's no cape, alas. ) ]
Are you off?
haha omg just waiting for someone to try and style her hair like a little bat now
( Definitely agreed. ) I've got some more patrolling to do. ( Actually, she nods down, and if Allison looks down into the street she might spot a purple motorcycle. How did it get there without her noticing the sound?
Bats is how. Also it's evolving and awesome. She's about to drop down when she glances back over her shoulder. ) Take advantage of the training facilities. It's quiet right now, but things can turn bad fast.
i volunteer allison as tribute. or steph probably!!
this is slowly turning into an old spice commercial and allison doesn't mind one bit while she swoons over helena.allison nods back at her, just before she watches her leave, because what she said is true - even if helena won't know how relevant it is to how allison feels.she hasn't got time to be sitting around worrying when she should be preparing herself for any kind of situation. being here was no excuse to stop doing what felt like her duty. ]
I'll be sure to be ready when that happens.
revenge for the kitchen lbr
look your Bat, now back to me, now look at your Bat, now back to me. What's in my hand? A crossbow to avenge the deaths of your loved ones.A grin, and an approving nod. ) Good.
( And she does mean it about Allison calling if she ever needs help, but she doesn't belabour the point. Instead, she's just disappearing off the edge of the building, melting into the shadows. )
