[When Jaime turns the tablet on, he's standing in front of the cinema that a couple of the other Transports had constructed, visible hand propped up on a broomstick. The area is still scattered with debris and dust after the bombings, but it's clear that he's at least made the rudimentary attempts at cleaning a path to the miraculously intact structure. He gives the camera a little wave.]

Hey! So, it's come to my attention that some people around here have never seen a movie before even though we've got a theatre right here. I'm thinking we're totally past due for a movie night, and it just so happens that I found a copy of E.T. in one of the databases. This place still needs to be cleaned up a bit, but I think I can have it ready by let's sayyyy Saturday, 7 PM. Everyone's welcome to come on down.

Or at least you are as long as you bring snacks.

[He grins at the camera. He's joking, honest. Mostly. Mostly joking. A movie's not a movie without snacks.]

...And if you didn't get it, Sango, that means you. Clear your schedule! It's time to introduce you to modern cinema. Eilonwy, you should come on down too. Call it a mini-vacation you get to choose this time.

Whoa. [He's not accustomed enough to superpowers yet for seeing someone just whip them out over the network not to be a shock, and he instinctively leans away from the screen for a moment.

Of course, he's taking a closer work soon afterwards.] Wow. Cool superpower.

[The sigh of relief isn't obvious, but it's heartfelt. People have been good about it, so far, and it looks like that's holding true.]

Thank you. [The flames fade away as she smiles.] I can also move things with my mind, which will probably be more helpful.

Okay, that sounds useful. Not that the whole fire thing isn't cool, but it's not as great at the whole reaching things on high shelves deal. Are your powers common where you're from?

Not mine specifically, but a lot of people are born with special abilities. More every day. [But she sounds wistful about it.] We're called mutants.

[Now this conversation sounds familiar.]

Do you know someone called Nate? Big guy - big guy [he's still not quite over his height] - wears an eyepatch?

[Her eyes widen, a bit, and her smile is a bit rueful.]

I do, yes. We're...sort of related. [Already, she's started to think of him as hers, but - well, it's complicated.]

Oh yeah? How?

[Lord.]

Um - there's time travel involved. [How did both of her children end up as time travellers? What is her life?] And alternate universes. I think. [How do you work, universe.]

Oh boy. That stuff gets pretty complicated, doesn't it?

[He considers her for a moment and tries to think about the weirdest relationship between an old guy like Nate and a pretty young woman like Jean.

Tentatively:] Are you going to be his grandmother or something in like fifty years? In... another universe.

It really does. [Then she stares, for a second, before laughing softly.] Close, sort of. I'm...an alternate version of his mother. [And it's more complicated still, but she doesn't want to go into that with someone else.]

He... seems like a good guy, anyway. [It's said tentatively, with some measure of helpless good humour. He supposes that you'd want your kids even from alternate universes from the future to be decent people.] Bet it's just as weird for him.

He does, yeah. [And her smile is proud. He's been through so much, but he's still a good man.] I think he's a little more used to it.

Do you have any family here? Or anyone you knew from home?

[He shakes his head.] Nope. Some people from the same world, but no one I actually knew.

I'm sorry. ...Well, in a way. [From what she's found, her loved ones would be better off here, but that's probably not true for most people.] But you've made friends here, right?

I wouldn't want them here. [He pauses, realizes how his quick answer could be misconstrued, and hastily adds:] Not in a warzone, I mean. But yeah, I've made friends.

[Jean nods; she knows what he meant. She wouldn't want Rachel here, in most circumstances.]

I'm glad. Friends are important, in a place like this.

Yeah. You'll meet some too. Is there anyone else you know here? Like, know-know, not alternate-universe-know?

[Jean shakes her head.] Not so far. Everyone who knows Jean Grey knows - a different one.

Ooh. Very weird. Did you know them too, just as different versions of them?

[astraia]

One, yeah. She's not so different, really, just...younger. [And she has a daughter. She wonders what changed, exactly, to stop that from happening; to cost Franklin a sister.]

[He looks thoughtful for a moment, though it's clear that he still thinks that's incredibly strange.]

Huh. Wonder how many people round here are in your boat.

Good question. Maybe we could start a support group. [Her smile is wry, but she's not being completely facetious; maybe it would help.]

It wouldn't be a terrible idea for you guys all to get together. You could compare notes or something.

There can be a seminar on dealing with kids who are older then you are.

[A wry grin.] I mean, I can't exactly ground the man.
