[When Jaime turns the tablet on, he's standing in front of the cinema that a couple of the other Transports had constructed, visible hand propped up on a broomstick. The area is still scattered with debris and dust after the bombings, but it's clear that he's at least made the rudimentary attempts at cleaning a path to the miraculously intact structure. He gives the camera a little wave.]

Hey! So, it's come to my attention that some people around here have never seen a movie before even though we've got a theatre right here. I'm thinking we're totally past due for a movie night, and it just so happens that I found a copy of E.T. in one of the databases. This place still needs to be cleaned up a bit, but I think I can have it ready by let's sayyyy Saturday, 7 PM. Everyone's welcome to come on down.

Or at least you are as long as you bring snacks.

[He grins at the camera. He's joking, honest. Mostly. Mostly joking. A movie's not a movie without snacks.]

[He pauses, then swallows the words but you know how to drive a motorcycle because oh right, secret identity.]

I'd be one of those people. And there's other guys around here who are used to tech way more advanced than anything my world's got. What kind of tech are you used to?

Well, I could tell you what I'm not used to! The thing is, a lot of what's around here does exist in some shape or form where I'm from, it's just a lot more advanced. I mean, cars are a prime example of that. My Dad's Satomobile pales in comparison to what I've seen since I arrived.

But I gotta say, besides the tablet, the most innovative piece of work to me has been the microwave. And, what else, perhaps guns?

[She maintains a neutral stance on the lattermost item for this conversation. Now isn't exactly the best time to dredge in bad memories. Her voice does dip very slightly, however.]

That's because microwaves are awesome. Seriously.

[He has to stop and consider the word 'Satomobile', however.] Satomobile is really close to the word I'm used to for cars. What does the 'Sato' bit stand for?

You mean like automobile?

[Her smile grows broader.] Sato's my last name. The Satomobile is just a luxury line of cars, kind of like how our competitor's Cabbage Car is a cheaper brand of the same thing.

Your family has its own line of cars? [He lets out a low whistle.] That's awesome. My--

[Whatever he's about to share stutters to a halt when Asami's words register properly in that brain of his, and he interrupts himself to say,] Wait, Cabbage Car? What kind of name is that?

[Her face freezes with an expectant expression, as if encouraging him, your...? That is, until he brings up the Cabbage Corp. It gets a short giggle out of her.]

It's quirky, right? Believe it or not, Cabbage Corp has a legacy. It all started with a man and his cabbage cart; fast-forward seventy years later and now there's an entire corporation. Just goes to show you can't brush off even the simplest things, huh?

Okay, I guess I can get the whole legacy thing, but they might wanna consider a new name. I wouldn't want to drive something named after cabbages.

[He gives her a rueful grin.] Well... I'd prefer not to. I think I'd take whatever I could get, car-wise.

Well, we're not about to give the tip to our rival auto maker. [She winks at him.]

So you were going to say something about yourself earlier?

[Asami hasn't forgotten. Enough about her own family; the situation isn't as perfect as it sounds.]

Oh yeah. I was just gonna say that my family works with cars too - or my dad does, at least. We run a garage.

You don't say! What a coincidence. So you've grown up around cars your whole life, then?

More or less, yeah. I was working there before all... this. [He waves one hand.] It'd be a good way of making some extra cash, but we haven't really got so much of a booming automobile economy going on here.

Wellll, I can tell you my bike could use a tuneup. Normally I like to do it myself, but I can understand if you're itching for a little grease on your hands.

Oh yeah? [He can't help but brighten up a little at the prospect.] I can totally give you a hand with that. It's --

[He pauses, then says slowly,] How bad am I jinxing us if I say I've been kinda bored around here?

[She jokingly winces.] It's too late, you already said it. Now we'll just have to wait for the skies to open up, won't we?

[Flatly:] My god. I've doomed us all.

At least we'll know who to blame, right?

Careful who you tell. I don't want everyone to start breaking out the pitchforks and torches in advance.
