[The video flickers on upside-down for a moment before Spike flips it over after a little squinting. He looks pretty annoyed, slightly tired, and sort of disappointed with everything in general.]

Alright. I have a little question for you all, in case anyone knows for sure.

Does the sun in this godforsaken place ever come fully out at all? I hope it does. Because if this is really a whole new world, then I've finally found a place where the sun doesn't immediately set me on fire if I step into it. Or that's how it should work, anyway, I think. But then if it turns out that the sun barely shows up anyway... what good does that do?

[He makes a disgusted sound and waves a hand.] That would really make my day, wouldn't it. If it honestly is just all rain and gloom every day, that's another thing to strike out while I'm searching for one single redeeming quality that this bloody place has. That search is getting old very quickly, as a side-note.

Anyone have an answer?

Probably the bombings, gas bombings, germ warfare, or like, uh, there was this chipping thing once, over a year ago? Oh, oh, they also tried invading to get the tech before but that went pretty horribly so. That stuff!

And zombies. There were zombies before. Also monsters? Big ones! Lots of them. But they're gone now!

I don't know that one personally, but a few months before I got here, the UE had come in and managed to chip a bunch of the Transports? Anyway, the chips got removed later, but they were behavior modifying and tracking or something. It was an attack on the Initiative rather than just us, since as far as the UE knows, we're all the one and the same thing.

( it's any sort of mind control. collette is intensely against it, though she wouldn't make it seem so, unless talking in person at length. )

Yeah, from all of us! Turns out it's hard to keep any of us pinned down. Anyway, did you catch on to how the um... United Earth people are all drugged and mindwashed?

Way more than forgiven! ;) People don't remember it all even when they're here for months. It's just like -- kind of good to know? The United Earth isn't some big mindless evil something, it's filled with most of the Earth's population and they're not given a chance to be in control of their own minds. It's freaky!

There's two kind of soldiers they have, too. Normal guys, like -- I guess not you, but like most people -- and the ones who're modified through gene therapy. They have even less of a chance of being their own people, and are that much ore dangerous to anyone facing off against one.
